A penny saved is… Everything is going just great for Jill Gooder. Whoops! Spoke too soon. What’s in the black box? …a penny towards my next custard cream.
I'm not sure why I continue to read this series. It's fairly inconsistent in quality and leaves a lot to be desired in exploring the protagonist's witch capabilities. I do enjoy her PI adventures, though.
This is the latest novella in this series I've read, and each on I rated 3-4 stars more 4's then 3. I'm not going to keep reviewing them, you can read the 1st 10 to see what I thought or you can download the first one for free on Amazon I really recommend you do that if you like witch stories or funny British humor.
Still good but there just hasn’t been much character growth or development and so they’re all starting to sound the same. Jill loses to Alicia in the levels competition because she was trying to protect the crowd so she stays as a level 4 witch. Her and jack are still just dating and squabbling over little things. Barry the dog briefly comes to Live with jack and Jill but it is short lived then he goes back to candlefield. There is a guy who wants to make werewolves rule the world. The moon hasn’t come out in candlefield for awhile and if it doesn’t, humans will start dying. Luckily Jill is on it. Not much is going on with Kathy Thank and her family. Megan still is a slutty gardener and lives next door. Nothing new with the twins, grandma or aunt Lucy.

I enjoy the continuous ongoings in these books. There is always something happening, either with Jill's PI investigations, witch activities, the twins fun and games, neighbours or family the story runs at a full tilt right throughout. My only disappointment is the way Jill treats Jack. Either she wants to be a couple or not and her actions are becoming more selfish, bordering on cruel. I hope this trend doesn't continue.
Outstanding urban fantasy/cozy mystery series. Jill gooder a private eye who learns she is a witch who is adopted by humans and raised in the human world. She finds out she has powers and more family in the supernatural world. She now spends half her time in the human world solving mysteries as well as time in the supernatural world solving mysteries as well. Follow along and be thoroughly entertained
Fortunately I've found a spot where her books seem to be getting somewhat better. The new police chief, Riley, obviously hates her. She has a bunch of cases to work on including a missing daughter case.
One disappointment is that there is a Department V which looks into possible abuses of witch power and you can guess which witch is being investigated. I really don't like the way this was resolved.
Winky, who is still unfortunately around, is teaching other cats how to knit.
She wants to find out if young Lizzie is a parahuman since it seems she can see ghosts. No one believes a young person, of course, except for Jill. There's a kidnapping, a whole lot of difficulty in keeping the fact that she is a witch from Jack, there's an illusionist, a disappearing moon and the possibility of werewolves running riot.
There's also an interesting sculpture of her and something that could relate to Winky's life before she met the cat.
An exorcist is needed, the moon has gone missing, an illusionist performs a disappearing act on himself and two women have been kidnapped. How will Jill ever make it through Levels with all this?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Jill faced a lot of great challenges, including figuring out who hid the moon in Candlefield. Plus, there were a lot of fun things interwoven into the story, including a surprise revelation about Jill’s niece Lizzie.
Loving this series of books. They are light funny and totally addictive. If you are after a literary fix forget it. The author has nailed a very different approach to writing and it works beautifully. Got to love Winky the cat.
Absolutely wonderful characters that interact with each other beautiful! Fabulous plot twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series.
I've said it before and I'll say it again .....these are the perfect books for light and entertaining reading. Jill makes some mistakes, but learns fast. Her kooky families -- both witch and human, along with her talking pets, makes this a delightful series
Another good read in the Witch P.I. Mystery series. I was a little surprised at the ending, but really enjoy this book. I do plan on reading the entire series, which includes 43 books. They do not have the same intensity of some other books I've read, but I find them addicting.
Jill continues to get into trouble, but of course manages to extricate herself. It is very fast reading so be ready to get the next book. On the other hand my next book will have a little deft it. Don't get me wrong I'll be back.
CASS is very interesting now. How did Jill know what she knew and is it related to those dreams she was having before? Barry. Sweet Barry. Barry would drive me insane.
Excellent. She is more confident in her abilities and very humble. I love the comments where she is speaking to the reader. Great book in the series. Thanks.
