The Publicist #6

Loving Vivienne: The Publicist, Book Six

Rate this book
Packed with Romance and Sex, here’s what readers are saying about The Publicist

What happens when you fall in love with a man you can never have?

Vivienne has it all, a successful writing career, a hit movie, a life most women dream of. The only thing missing is someone to share it with. So when a handsome, successful doctor saves her from near death, Vivienne is certain she’s finally met the man of her dreams… Until she discovers who he is… or rather who his father is. The man who single-handedly tore apart her brother’s life. Can she put the past behind her? Will she choose family over love? Or will she lose the man she feels destined to be with?

I read the first book which was brilliant! So I was very excited when the second book came out. This one was better than the first! It pushed the limits with the steamy scenes in the bedroom and the affair that Kate and Mac had. Always, in an affair there will be obstacles to get past. Some of the things that happen in the book makes me wonder how accurate the description of the publishers job is. I'm assuming it's pretty accurate. Kate finds herself growing and becoming more focused on herself so she can make a difference in her field, which any one would do in her shoes. I really felt book one was great but this one blew it out of the water! Great book! ZootZoot - Reader review in romance and sex category!

I've worked in publishing for twenty years and I sincerely love books and authors. I started this journey with my own books planning to write just one, and then well - all I can say is the stories kept coming. My original series The Publicist, follows Kate, Mac, Nick, Vivienne and a host of other awesome characters as they make their lives in New York, amidst the chaos that publishing often brings with it.

I am now exploring a fictional small town called Harper's Corner. This series is so fun, because there are so many characters in this town, from sexy firemen and hot Army guys, to an awesome group of women that I affectionally call "the coven." These books will explore each of these characters, and their journey to finding the loves of their lives.

I love writing, and I love reading and if I'm not actively writing a book, I'm probably dreaming of what I'll write next.

Please feel free to email me at authorchristinageorge@gmail.com with your thoughts on any of my books.

Favorite Quotes:

When he grinned, she swore she could hear angels singing… Oh, dear, he was one of those sneak-up-on-you alphas: all charm and charisma, so you barely noticed you were doing exactly what he wanted, giving him whatever he asked for, and all because of that sexy smile.

So I say go after this guy and see what happens… Just know that if he hurts you, I will kill him – slowly and creatively.

My Review:

This was my first chance to read Ms. George’s work and I will be going backward to picking up the previous books. Even though this was book six in the series, the story was strong enough to stand on its own, however, I enjoyed Ms. George’s writing style as well as her characters, and am intrigued with the storyline enough to want more. Written from a third person POV, this quick and easy to read tale provided steam, romance, family drama, and amusing secondary characters.

I don’t think there are any children of the 90s who didn’t daydream about being rescued on the beach by a hottie. I blame Baywatch. (Not the Hasslehoff years, but the Jason Momoa episodes) But while I give this one points for attempting to help readers relive those fantasies, I can’t say it was a success in any other sense of the word.

Here are my beefs:
1. The hero and heroine barely had a few conversations and maybe one date before they were falling into bed and declaring their love for one another. I wish real life happened this way, but...yeah, no.

2. The blurb hints that Vivienne and Daniel are somehow star-crossed. In reality, it’s only Vivienne’s asshattery that impedes their relationship. And I say any woman who is willing to reject a hot doctor simply because she doesn’t like his family doesn’t deserve him. Give any 20 single women anywhere in the world the same scenario and I don’t think they’d kick Daniel to the curb.

3. The Jamaican PA...stereotype much?

4. Daniel’s a little too Ken-doll perfect for my liking. He’s a hot, super-sweet guy who spends his free time saving orphans in Costa Rica. What, he didn’t have time to cure cancer and rescue sick puppies while he was at it? A few flaws might have made him more relatable.

5. It took a near death experience to convince the heroine that she was being an asshat. How convenient.

6. Daniel totally should’ve made Vivienne grovel before he took her back. And I mean GROVEL.

Overall, this one was a giant, heaping helping of “nope” for me. Vivienne deserves a good swift kick in the ass as far as I’m concerned.

I love love love this series. Mac, Kate, and Nick are my long lost friends. I have followed them from the very beginning and was so excited to hear that Christina George was writing Vivienne’s story. Vivienne is Nick’s younger sister who he raised when their parents died. Vivienne is a new author that Kate is helping get published at Lavigne Publishing House.

The story of Vivienne is amazing. She goes on a beach vacation with her best friends and meets a sexy doctor, Dr. Dan, when she almost drowns in a riptide. Of course, sparks fly and the attraction is undeniable. I liked that her friends pushed her out of her comfort zone telling her to go on a date with him. They knew she needed that push to get out of her shell and live a little. Of course, as soon as the date was over they needed the details as any best friends would. In true Publicist style things cannot be easy for anyone so there is a hiccup in their relationship. It stirs up everyone involved and could put Dr. Dan and Vivienne’s relationship in jeopardy.

Christina George does a great job of keeping her characters true to themselves. They have learned from past mistakes and successes. The lessons stay with them, letting them share these lessons with those they love. Kate and Nick share all they went through to be together with Vivienne and manage to put the past behind them to give her the happiness she deserves.

Loving Vivienne is wonderful. I believe it can be read as a standalone but as with many series it would be more fun to read as part of the series.

I read the first two books of this series, then lost track of it. It wasn't that I didn't want to read more--I was just reading different kinds of books. On a cold and snowy afternoon a post about the sixth book in the series came in my FB news feed. After I got over my surprise that the series was still going, I came to check it out. Mac and Kate have moved on, and it's now time for Vivienne's story.

I was confused at first because I had not read a few books in between, but I got up to speed quickly. Mac and Kate are secondary, but the repercussions of their relationship affect the new one between his son and her sister-in-law.

I'm not big on book boyfriends, but oh, my goodness. Daniel was something else. A doctor who volunteered in a Costa Rican orphanage? Oh yes, he was a keeper. I held my breath to see if Vivienne would figure that out before she let him go.

Now I have to go back and read the other books! LOL

Loving Vivienne is a roller coaster of a romance that features a strong female lead with a haunted past.  The novel follows the "forbidden romance plot", and while this storyline is commonly used in the romance genre, author Christina George made it her own by creating vivid characters with a tantalizing plot.

I always love a thrilling plot to pair with my romance fetish, so I was so excited when I was sent this novel to review.  Loving Vivienne is a bit of a modern-day Romeo and Juliet story, but the stakes are much higher.  The thrill of this forbidden romance pulled me from page to page, and I enjoyed the vivid plot.  George made sure not to add too much filler to her novel, and I appreciated that.  Strong plots such as that in Loving Vivienne are hard for me to find in many romance novels.

Loving Vivienne follows a successful author, Vivienne, who has everything that she ever wanted except for someone to love.  However, she ends up falling in love with a doctor who saved her life, only to find that he is the son of a man whom she can't stand.  The novel follows Vivienne as she struggles with her family, her past, and her needs and wants.  Vivienne is a multi-faceted character who I related to on a deep level.  George made sure to bring her characters to life with human flaws, and I appreciated seeing that in a romance novel.  None of her characters were too perfect.

My only critique is that sometimes the descriptions of the scenes and characters were overdone, and I felt myself skipping some sentences.  This detracted from some parts of the story, but I found the plot irresistible nonetheless.

If you are a fan of thrilling, high-speed romances, then Loving Vivienne should be the next book on your to be read list!

My Favorite Quote when there is alot of good quotes in this book:
" You may have nightmares for a bit, and I would recommend not wading out too far anymore."
He flicked a light from one eye to the next , and then checked her pulse." You seem fine, Vivianne, but
I would recommend rest, at least the rest of today and tonight. Tomorrow you can see how you feel."

My Review:
This is my first book from Christina George and I feel that she writes with the passion that all
authors that do. They write with the passion to keep their readers on their edge of their sets because we as readers want more not just half the story. This author is just one of many that writes with her heart and she lets others read her work. This is a perfect love story about two people and it shows what the passion that two people have in their relationships.

This book is Book Six of Christina George’s Publicist Series. While she included enough explanatory material to make it viable on a stand alone basis, I was left wishing I’d read the earlier books. The plot revolved around a lot of past history and  resultant grudges, and that required a bit of reading between the lines to fill in the blanks.
Vivienne has written a hugely successful book that has just been turned into a movie (we authors should all be so lucky). On a vacation to Costa Rica, she meets Daniel, a very heroic hero indeed. He’s there helping out at a local orphanage although he is an intern back in New York City. That part struck me as far-fetched. I don’t believe interns can just pick up and fly off to Costa Rica no matter how noble their mission.
The book really demonstrates how family dynamics can get in the way of love if you let them. Don’t you let them.

Loving Vivienne by Christina George was good fit for me. I truly enjoy reading about romance between fictional characters because even though it's just a book I find a way to put myself in the shoes of the characters and inside the book to understand what I'm reading. Vivienne came off a little stubborn and hard headed but over some time she hit some realisation that things weren't going the right way if she didnt change her thinking/actions. Her future was at risk. This book made me stay intersted and kept me on the edge of my seat waiting and wondering whats going to happen next. Even though I received this book as an opportunity to write an easy review on it I enjoyed it very much and would recommend it to others who also enjoy a little romantic escape.

Good read, well written but not very original

I enjoyed this book. It was a good, quick read and held my interest. The only reason I didn't give it 5 starts is because, in my opinion, the story line lacked originality. This book would be great for someone in their late teens who maybe just picked up reading and wanted to read a romantic novel.

That said, the characters were very well developed and she used really great descriptions to tell her story throughout the book. I do feel like, in the shortness of the book there was a lot crammed in and perhaps could have spent a little more time going more in depth on some scenes (the relationship between Mac and Nick for example).

This is a really great, quick read for a beach vacation though!! I'd recommend it!

This is the first book I have read by Christina George, and it wont be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Vivienne and Daniel's story. At first, with it being the sixth book in the series I didn't quite understand why Vivienne was so harsh with Mac. However it wasn't too hard to piece together as you read the story. At times I was frustrated with Vivenne, yet I understood why and I loved her loyalty to her brother, Nick.

This story kept me gripped. I loved the characters and the storyline. It kept me turning the pages while sitting on the edge of my seat. Secrets, angst and sweet romance. Very much looking forward to reading more. Would certainly recommend.

Fairy tale romance

Christina George creates a fairy tale vacation romance. Daniel saves Vivienne's life on the first day of her trip. The two quickly fall for each other, but Daniel has a secret. Will their budding romance survive this secret?
Vivienne is a very well developed character. She is a bit immature, but self aware enough to realize her mistakes. Daniel is the ultimate prince charming. He is kind, caring, and head over heels in love. I found their journey enjoyable and sweet. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes a sweet romance.

I have read the other books in this series and enjoyed them greatly. I was excited to see another one for the series was released. She creates a cast of characters that are not only memorable but captivating. I think she did a wonderful job in continuing the relationships between the characters and adding to their stories. I found it to be a quick read as well, which is a positive in my book! I felt an emotional connection for Vivienne and Daniel as they struggle with their pasts and relationship. I found myself relating to Vivienne's anger as well. Because in some ways it was valid. How they deal with the problems around them was believable and made their journey seem that much more “real” in my opinion. This is a wonderful, quick and romantic read that aims straight for the heart!

Kate has had her time to shine and now the spotlight has transferred to Vivienne and her love life. Up until now, Nick's sister has kind of been secreted away, so it was interesting to learn more about her and who drives her wild. Falling in line with the rest of the series, this book relies heavily on romance and the complications that stand in the way. Will Vivienne's issues with her father-in-law be enough to keep her and her true love apart for good? This was a light read for me.

Another great read by Christina George!

This is book 6 in the Publicist series. All of the characters from previous books are back. However, this could be read as a stand alone. The author was so great to fill in the blanks of characters and situations and why something could be so awkward. This did not distract from the book, and I have read all previous books in this series.

I liked the idea of a Vivienne and Daniel together. There's was more of a story of love at first sight, and then strengthens as they get to know one another better. Although, would that kind of love at first sight last when Vivienne realizes the confession that Daniel wanted to make? She had ultimately stopped his confession not wanting to hear it when it was something that was important to hear. Could that be a deal breaker? Will she push him away when she finds out, or he does get her to listen? How many chances does one person need?

It was good to see character growth in so many of the characters. We see it in the main characters as well as the secondary and supporting characters. It was nice to see some people can finally act like adults and realize how childish their behavior can appear. When these people work together they can accomplish so much.

This was a lovely addition to the Publicist series. I enjoyed it! Loving Vivienne might even be my favorite of them all in this series. This book was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.

Christina George has done it again with another fabulous story in The Publicist series. I have read each of these books and the characters have become like friends. This is the first book that spotlights Nick's sister, Vivienne. If you enjoy a great romance novel, then I recommend this book. The characters in this series are interesting and fun to get to know. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Christina George continues to provide her readers with great stories. I have read all the books in the Publicist series and each one provides me with as much enjoyment as the last. In Loving Vivienne, Christina George continues the saga of Nick, Kate, Mac, and Vivienne. Only this time the focus is on Vivienne and where she is at with her life.
She has successfully written her first book and it is now in the process of being made into a movie. She has an obligation to write a second book but is struggling to find her inspiration. Vivienne decides to take a vacation with her two best friends, Evie and Samantha. Little did she know that while on vacation in Costa Rica she would have a life and death experience that led to her meeting, Daniel.
Vivienne and Daniel hit it off in more than one way in Costa Rica but Daniel is hiding something from her that he knows can end any chance he has of a long term relationship with her. Before he can come clean, circumstances cause Vivienne to return home sooner than planned. Although Daniel promises to contact her up his return to the states he doesn’t. Eventually Vivienne and Daniel run into each other at a book event and the truth comes out.
Vivienne decides no matter how much she likes Daniel she cannot get over his secret. Daniel and Vivienne play a game of sorts trying to make things work but things continue to work against them. Eventually another life and death situation causes the two to question if they can truly get past Daniel’s secret and be happy or if love is simply not enough.
This is a great, fast-paced read that is perfect for those who love the idea of love at first sight and battling against the odds.

I wasn't wowed by this book. First of all, Vivienne's and Dan's first meeting totally lacked creativity and it slowed the pace of the whole story. Second, their troubles and hang ups over what kept them separated was just predictable. Finally, the conclusion was lackluster. The whole premise that being faced with someone potentially being dead will be the trigger that shoots you out of your stubbornness and immaturity to do the right thing, has been overdone.
