“For Joyce’s stories you don’t need a strong stomach, though you may find your sides aching with laughter. Her humor is sharp without being nasty; her characters are well drawn.”—Ian Rankin When “Fizz” Fitzgerald suggests a connection between two cases, the police can barely conceal their amusement. Fizz takes matters into her own hands, enlisting the reluctant help of lawyer Tam Buchanan. Soon Tam is mingling with the locals, whose friendly banter conceals all manner of secrets. And it begins to look as though Bessie Anderson knew more than was good for her about one of her neighbors.
Set in the Scottish Highlands this, the second book in the series, had a very well done plot and the two lead characters are both smart and engaging. A fun read.
Unlikeable, manipulative woman gets her boss to investigate an old woman's disappearance when he is supposed to be convalescing from surgery. Unfortunately, they find an abandoned tent, and then a body, in the remote Scottish Highlands.
