This was a quick, interesting read about "Notch," the maker of Minecraft and how his game transformed into an international success. I am not a video game player and have no idea how to play Minecraft (ok, maybe an exaggeration as many a sitting job I have observed kids playing), yet I still enjoyed reading about its history and the steps taken to make the game. Coding is increasing in popularity, so I recommend to children (approx. 3rd grade-5th grade) who like gaming and/or those who are interested in coding. I am going to pass this on to my nephew as he enjoys Minecraft, gaming, YouTube, etc.

I won't lie, I am more obsessed with this game than most children. Much like Pokemon, however, I only care about the originals. It was fun to read a very short origin story of the game, although I found myself wanting a lot more detail. I didn't realize this game drew inspiration so directly from so many sources. I also really love how open and free its creator tried to keep it. I do think it is a bummer that he ended up selling to Microsoft and leaving the project, but like the game itself, it seems to have no end of expansion potential. I can't wait to test the realms, maps, and story mode! I would love to test the educator version as well.
