Una's foolish mistake sends Ailill to the Otherworld in her place. Now she must don the blackthorn crown and venture alone into the fairy realm, to correct her error and bring Ailill home safely.
But in the Otherworld, Una is not only the guest of the Seelie Court--she's also their last remaining hope. As the mystery of what haunts Ailill is revealed, Una must choose between loyalty to her kin, and newfound love... and must find a way to stop a great evil from destroying the Seelie Court and the human realm with one devastating blow.
Cage of Thorn is the second volume of The Blackthorn Cycle.
Boy, am I glad I kept reading after the first book! Book 2 has all the good things that Book 1 does, but without some of the things that were a little off putting to me. Una is a great heroine with the right balance of fearful and brave, and she never comes across as whiny. The descriptions are beautiful and vivid and the story and characters really mature in this book. The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is that there were some typos and missing words, but with another edit, this book is a solid 5. I'm looking forward to the third one.
