I may have moved from Texas to Colorado, but my reputation followed me--right along with my furniture. Everyone knows...I'm a player. Since I'm one of the billionaire Walker brothers, most of the world knows what I am. It's not like I ever tried to hide it. I never cared about what other people thought about me. I lived to party...or I did until I realized what I really wanted to do with my life.
Now, I'm having one hell of a time convincing Paige Rutledge, our new attorney in the legal department at Walker Enterprises, that I'm more than willing to settle for just one woman in my bed, as long as that female is her. Unfortunately, she's not buying it, but I'm not giving up. There's never been a woman I couldn't charm into bed if I wanted to. Problem is, I've never wanted one quite this badly, and the more I get to know her, the higher the stakes are for me. Luckily, I'm a gambling kind of guy.
Paige is uptight, driven, and totally hiding something. I want to find out her secrets, but when I do, they are nothing like I imagined. She confuses everything for me, but with her, I'm finding out that maybe I actually don't mind if things get complicated.
What's a guy to do when one female turns my life upside down from the moment I meet her? I have no idea what other men might do, but I'm determined to get what I want, and I'm not opposed to doing anything to achieve my objective.
J.S. Scott is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of contemporary and paranormal romance. She's an avid reader of all types of books and literature. Writing what she loves to read, J.S. Scott writes both contemporary erotic romance stories and paranormal romance erotics. They almost always feature an Alpha Male and have a happily ever after because she just can't seem to write them any other way! She lives in the beautiful Rocky Mountains with her husband and two very spoiled German Shepherds.
I purchased this one right after receiving the author’s newsletter without knowing what it was about other than the fact that it was book two in The Walker Brothers series and also because I'm a big fan of J. S. Scott's work. I have loved the first installment telling the story of Trace and this one was just as amazing. This book is a sexy and well-written romance about reformed player Sebastian Walker and junior attorney in the legal department at Walker Enterprises, Paige Rutledge.
Heartbroken and lost after losing his father and his new step-mother in a tragic plane crash that also left his youngest brother Dane horribly scared, Sebastian filled his life with sex, booze and weed. One past that earned him a bad reputation. A reputation of a professional partier, a player. Over a year ago Sebastian had moved to Denver from Texas and joined his elder brother Trace at Walker Industry, leaving his playboy days and frivolous life behind. Since he’d partnered in Walker, Sebastian has been fully committed to his job, trying to carve out his place in the company and wanting to become a valuable asset to the conglomerate. Not a single woman has pulled his interest away from business, until Paige. He’s immediately intrigued by her spunky attitude and mysterious demeanor, and something about her touches Sebastian in ways he's never experienced. Soon, Paige becomes a woman who consumed all his thoughts, a woman who makes protective and primitive instincts he didn't know he had flare to life inside him. He’s then determined to chase, to conquer her and to overcome the obstacles between them to be the man she deserves.
« I’m not sure I always get what you want from me.” Everything! Yeah, I couldn’t admit that to her or she’d go running for the door. But I wanted it all. The complications, the laughter that she so seldom let leave her beautiful lips, her genuine smile, her inquisitive questions, her body, her heart, and her goddamn soul. »
When Paige ends up in the same elevator as Sebastian on her first day at work, she deliberately doesn’t acknowledge his presence despite his blatant lustful interest and her unexpected and surprising physical reaction to him. Paige had dealt with things a woman should never have to deal with in a lifetime. She’d made it a habit to keep everything, every emotion well concealed. She’s a cautious, driven, nerdy woman, determined to climb the ladder. She has a plan, and she has every intention of making sure her life went according to schedule. And as a newbie in Sebastian’s company, she doesn’t want to mess that up. Paige’s also aware of his bad reputation and she has her reasons to hate wealthy and powerful men. But Sebastian’s relentless pursuit is difficult to ignore as the desire inside her she didn’t know she was capable of. Sebastian is nothing like she expected and her attraction to him was getting harder to deny by the day. No longer able to resist, Paige will quickly realize that Sebastian might be exactely what she needs and more importantly the one who can help her fight ghosts from her tragic past and move forward once and for all.
As always, this author never disappoints. J.S. Scott is a master at true romance with easy characters to cheer on. There is angst from the past, but the story focuses on the internal development of the main characters more than outside forces attacking to keep them apart. There is just enough edge to this story to keep you immersed in the book whilst also making it an easy read. I recommend this delicious book and series to anyone looking for a sweet, hot and very sexy read and all the elements you want in a romance. Can't wait for Dane's story.
Great story with a message to all women. Some of us weren’t lucky to know the signs of a serial rapist until it was too late. Paige Rutledge has a secret past and keeps people at a distance. Her focus is her job as she’s just been hired as a junior attorney for Walker Enterprises run by two billionaire brothers, Sebastian and Trace Walker.
First day on the job Paige meets Sebastian, the rumored player of the Walker brothers. Since Paige had a bad experience with a wealthy man, she avoids Sebastian. Sebastian is drawn to Paige more than any other woman he’s known, he sees what’s in her eyes and knows she’s hiding or running from something that haunts her soul. Sebastian knows the look all to well as it used to stare back at him in the mirror.
Great story of the ups and downs and falling in love with a wounded soul.
Player! was the second book in the Walker Brothers series by JS Scott.
Sebastian Walker - gorgeous, sexy, flirtatious, half owner of Walker Enterprises and used to getting 100% of what he wants. He left his partying and immature ways behind him a few years ago and now at 29, he was enjoying hard work and continuing to build the Walker empire into the future.
Paige Rutledge - stunning, elusive, focused, determined, and hands off. She had a job to do, long term goals to achieve and she wasn't interested in any distractions. She also had baggage and secrets that she was hiding behind and was the force of her drive to success.
It had been over a year since I had read the first book in the series, Release!, so I was glad Scott had included some quick facts within the first chapter. I didn't recall the entire story or Sebastian's background but Scott got me up to speed enough to enjoy Player! fully.
It was told with a dual POV, Paige and Sebastian's. Scott focused on their relationship development; which required Sebastian getting through Paige's multiple very large and thick walls of protection. It first centered around mysterious secrets from Paige regarding her past and "the day everything changed." It was a definite build up, and although somewhat predictable, it addressed a very real and troubling issue in today's society. It also concluded it differently than what I've typically seen, so kudos to Scott for tackling the subject head on.
The Player! was well written and well developed with only a few slight editing errors. It was also a quick and fun read. Next up is the last Walker brother, Dane. In preparation, Scott provided teasers for Kenzie's background, which includes a sense of mystery mixed with heartache. I can't wait!
I was actually quite shocked that I was one of a few to give this a low rating. I found the little hints of the reclusive brother Dane to be more enticing than this one lol. It wasn't really a entertaining story for me, not until the reveal of Her past. The way the author handled the situation was poorly done.
The entire time I kept feeling like Sebastian was making the situation all about what he was feeling and his comfort and what he wanted to do as apposed to the female lead (aka the rape victim) was feeling. He got angry with her and forced her to stay with him because it would make HIM feel better. Plus their first sexual encounter was very ill timed and I stopped reading once I got to it. After just reading about how the female lead was raped and left bloody.... then they wanted to have sex?? Heck I wasn't even in the mood to read a sex scene after hearing about what happened to her.
Insisting that he gives her the first real orgasm of her life, even though she isn't really in the mood??? I mean, I get what the author was trying to accomplish here. The "I have never had an orgasm" plot has been done in multiple books but as I said before it was very poorly timed. The way Sebastian insisted on having sex with her was almost borderline pressuring her. If the author had made the female character come to him, be the one to initiate the sexual situation, it would have went over better and it should have been on a separate day from when the rape was revealed. Heck they could have spent the night in each others arms and then woke up to morning sex lol
All in all, I understand what the author was trying to do here but it was poorly executed.
Reformed man whore. Heroine with a horrible history. It was an easy read. I liked them both, but I had trouble with her being so ok with his history. Especially considering her own family
Well, J.S Scott lived up to the legend once again!!
This fan favorite author always delivers on SWOONY, panty melting hot Billionaire romances, and PLAYER!--book 2 in her highly addictive Walker Brothers trilogy--is all that and more! While this book of course is oozing with her trademark passion, breathtaking romance, warm, fuzzy feels, and irresistible charm, she steps out of the box a bit by delving into a very serious subject matter with sensitivity, dignity and heartfelt emotion.
This book revolves around the middle brother Sebastian--the former party animal/notorious womanizer who was once trying to numb the pain over the tragic loss of his father by living a hedonistic lifestyle of non-stop drinking, getting high, and bedding any willing woman who caught his eye.
But Sebastian has since cleaned up his act, joined the family company and pours his passion into his work. His life now has purpose--and he’s finally in control of his own destiny. He’s always wanted to make a difference, contribute something valuable to society, and now spearheads the alternate energy division of Walker Enterprises. He wants to light up the world with renewable energy and has made big inroads into launching one of the largest solar operations in the country.
His life would be perfect except for one thing--he's terribly lonely and yearns for the love of a good woman like his older bro Trace found with his wife Eva. He toils away long hours at the office to fill the void but one chance encounter in the elevator with a prickly beauty changes everything!!
Let me count the ways I adore Sebastian!! He is dominantly sexy, determined, sweet and chivalrous, with a heart as vast as Colorado. With his immense fortune, gorgeous hazel eyes, thick, sandy brown hair, big, ripped muscles and a body made for SIN, he is UTTERLY IRRESISTIBLE to the ladies!
But this reformed bad boy only has eyes for one gorgeous gal. Paige. The firm’s newest corporate attorney. It's INSTA-LUST the moment he sets eyes on the curvy, uptight, brunette--she was the first female the work-obsessed Walker brother noticed who had stirred any kind of passionate interest in him since relocating to Denver from Texas. There's something special about her, he sees a part of her in himself, and she arouses his every possessive, PROTECTIVE instinct. But at first the uptight, ebony haired legal eagle wants no part of the big bossman, and gives him the royal brush off!!
Paige Rutledge has no interest in romantic entanglements--especially to one of the power-hungry head honchos who runs the company she works for. On the surface, Sebastian represents everything she has come to detest--rich, entitled, and infuriatingly conceited—and his reputation as a notorious skirt chaser precedes him. After a traumatic incident that forever shaped her life, she has reinvented herself. She is now focused, determined, and ready to conquer the world. Paige has every intention of making sure her life goes exactly according to schedule. No room for deviation. So despite her smoldering attraction to Sebastian and tantalizing glimpses of the real man beneath the cocky persona and designer suits, she needs to keep her head in the game.
Naturally, a hopelessly besotted Sebastian has never been one to back down from a challenge--in the bedroom or the boardroom--and has a counter offer of his own! He instinctively knows Paige hides a world of pain behind her brusque demeanor and cool, aloof smile and is determined to get know her. INTIMATELY. And prove he is a good man worthy of her confidences and her trust and perhaps even her love!
But his best laid plans In Operation Sweet Seduction hits a major snag when her past and present collides one night at a corporate charity ball, which leads to him swooping to the rescue--CAVEMAN STYLE!--and after he tenderly dries her tears, he vows to give Paige a fantasy-filled night of pleasure to replace her bad memories with beautiful ones.
True to his word he brings her to the heights of pleasure but falling for her Boss could derail all her carefully set plans and rip open all her old scabs. When the sun rises the next morning will the skittish beauty find the courage to stay in the comfort of Sebastian's warm, sheltering embrace or fall back into old habits and run?
Eeeek! You'll have to read to find out!!!
But I will divulge this--once again JS Scott dazzled!! This book was UNPUTDOWNABLE, packed with highly-charged drama, poignant emotion, smoldering sparks and captivating romance. There was the perfect balance of swoon and angst and she tackles a sensitive subject matter without ever sensationalizing it to advance plot. The plights of these two characters trying to rise above their difficult pasts truly captured my heart, and of course, the erotic interludes were off the charts hot!
I just adored how protective and gentle and caring Sebastian was with Paige, and how steadfast he was in his determination to help heal her broken spirit and make her whole. He always, ALWAYS put her happiness before his own needs and desires and that in itself makes him the ULTIMATE Billionaire Book Boyfriend!!!! And, despite some lingering trust issues, Paige did the impossible...she tamed the notorious Player! And, together, they warmed the cold, empty places inside each other's hearts and secured the most lucrative deal of all--an ironclad contract of forever love!
PLAYER! was another slam dunk for J.S. Scott and now I will wait with bated breath for the highly anticipated conclusion of this series, featuring the mysteries broody recluse, Dane!
Sebastian Walker was the ad boy player, the one who loved women, partying, and having a good time. Now though he has moved to Colorado and his sole focus has been work, he is taking pride in it and realizing his choice to grow up was right. Meeting Paige Rutledge, the new lawyer in his company, though brings out the man in him. He wants Paige but she barely acknowledges him.
Paige used to be more outgoing but then she had a life altering moment that changed everything and had her focusing on her career. She knows Sebastian's type is not interested. One thing leads to another and Paige and Sebastian agree to an affair of sorts, problem is Sebastian is playing for keeps and Paige has not realized it yet.
The beginning was a bit slow I thought, too much focus on Sebastian and proving he was a player. Once the chemistry between Sebastian and Paige became apparent though the story takes off. Liked Sebastian, he is like a dog with a bone where Paige is concerned. Paige had a fascinating back story. Great read.
I started reading this ad is do any of hand book , I was going all in. I actually had to stop ready and get myself together. It was hard to read this game in this book not because it was bad but because of my own life. No one deserves what happened in this book. I will say that u different need to read it all because there is justice and meaning of how to hold itself high and fight for what's right. I loved the author note at the end, it had me crying all over again. This is a well written and put together story. No matter what u have the power to control ur life no mater what ur past hold. That u for that. It means more then I could ever express. This is hands down one of my favorite book wrote by the awesome Author. She is inspiring and I love that about her.
I started with this book and absolutely loved the story of Sebastian and Paige!! It shows how love can heal most anyone. I am now gonna go back and start at the beginning with Trace and Eva then move on to Dane. I can't wait to fill in some blanks and then get to finish the series. So excited!!!
J. S. Scott - Player! – Sebastian & Paige – (The Walker Brothers Series - Book 2)
While writing in first person isn’t my favorite, somehow Ms. Scott pulls it off has written a compelling billionaire love story that is believable and steamy hot!
After Sebastian Walker’s father died, he was lost and became the rich playboy that jetted around the world for the next party, fix, and women. Yes, he was a big-time Player. A little over a year ago, he took inventory and realized that he not only didn’t like himself and that he needed his family. Sebastian bought into the Walker Enterprise and is now a partner with his brother. Now, he may have gone too far the other way because all he does is work and it was fulfilling. No women, booze of drugs, but, he is beginning to feel lonely.
Paige Rutledge just started working at Walker Enterprise as a new Junior Lawyer. Paige, like Sabastian was broken and had built high wall around herself and especially her heart. She was determined that she would not allow another person to hurt her like she was hurt 5 years ago.
On her first day, she is in the elevator with Sebastian Walker and she barley gives him the time of day. For some reason, Sebastian is enchanted by her and is determined to get to know Paige better. Paige on the other hand will try and become invisible and read contracts and stay off everyone’s radar.
Paige knows who Sebastian is and understands what a big player he is. She want’s nothing to do with him. How can Sebastian convince Paige that he is no longer a player and that he sincerely wants to find out what this attraction is between them, and not as a player. Paige trusts no one is uptight and focused only on her job. Paige will, however, admit that she to feels the chemistry between them and it is getting harder and harder to turn Sebastian down.
Find out if Sebastian and Paige can find their HEA or will they both go their separate ways?
"Player" is the second installment in the Walker Brothers series. This is Sebastian, the player's story. After living life high on weed and drinking himself into a stupor, Sebastian has moved to Colorado to work side by side with his brother, Trace. He has stopped his evil ways and is working hard on his new career. He has even been celibate for a year. He hardly recognizes himself. But all of that is about to change when he can seem to stop noticing a woman in the elevator. Her name is Paige Rutledge and she is a junior attorney just hired.
Paige has heard all of the rumors about Sebastian, the player. She makes a point of keeping him at least an arm length away from her. Besides, she hate rich assholes like him especially given her past. However, she has been in Colorado and she is lonely. She hasn't seen the sights. She hasn't met anyone and she no longer speaks to her parents. As much as she loves her new job, she has to find a way to be happy. Her former roommate Kenzie is pushing her to get out of her comfort zone.
The more Paige turns down Sebastian's invitations to dinner, the more he pursues her. When he ask for her assistance in motivating a land developer to sell his Mexico property to him she goes along. Unfortunately, when she said yes she did not know who the developer or his son was. Now she comes face to face with her own personal nightmare. The only saving grace is that Sebastian is there to see her through. Maybe he isn't really the asshole that she thought he was.
This was another good installment into the Walker Brother's series. I enjoy reading Paige's story as well as Sebastian's; however, if I am to be honest, the story line was much like that of Trace and Eva's. However, it wasn't bad enough to make me dislike the story. I enjoyed the family dynamics and the playfulness although this read does deal with a serious matter. If you enjoyed the first book in the series then you definitely want to read this one.
Player is the second book in the Walker Brothers series, and although it can be read as a standalone, I recommend that you read Release, the first book in the series so that you can better understand who the characters are and what they are about. This was a great book that I would gladly give more than five stars if I could, J.S. Scott did a superb job with this one! This is the story of Sebastian Walker, billionaire playboy and Paige Rutledge, an attorney who comes to work in his family business. Sebastian is trying to prove his worth to his family while Paige just wants to do her job, keep focused on her life plan and not stand out in any way. With the chemistry between these two, they will probably have a hard time doing those things. This story deals with things that should not happen in real life, but unfortunately does, and most of the time goes unpunished. J.S. Scott handled the topic with grace, and even though it was hard to read about, I am sure it was harder to write. We also got a glimpse of the main characters that will be in the next book in this series and I am seriously excited. So do yourself a favor and grab you a piece of butterscotch candy and get comfortable, because once you start this book, you will not want to put it down!! (Once you have read the end, please continue to read the authors note in the back)
I wish every book lover have at some point in their life to enjoy a J.S Scott read !! As in many many of review I take to time to explain and expand what is experienced in a reading a J.S Scott romance novels. The characters were highly researched and their background are well details. The chemistry between characters are addicted, and as a result it gives me little opportunity to put down the Book. The updates !! Oh Lord I just love how she take an opportunity to give an update of the last read in saga, which awakens / or reminds your love for her story. The hints she plugs into every read for her opportunity of an upcoming story for example the next in line - Dane. <3 And finally and most importantly with every J.S Scott read . The serious topics in society that Mrs Scott addresses her plots around. My they make her stories more heartfelt and profound and always awakens my urge to immediately start the read all over again, as soon as I'm done . If you have never read a J.S Scott read I hope my review encourages you to buy and enjoy , for you would certainly be pleased. I'm so excited for the next walker brother. Thank you Author J.S Scott for always brighten my book world .
Another mark down for J.S. Scott...she is one author that I ALWAYS love to read. Not only do I like the book but I love the fact this series crosses over with the Billionaire's Obsession as well as the Sinclair Family series'.
Sebastian and Paige's story was extremely good...Paige's past though was tragic she found a way of overcoming what happened to her. Sebastian had a large amount to do with Paige getting past her past with Justin. Not only that but bringing her back together with her parents...he knows first hand what it's like to completely lose a parent and he didn't want Paige to lose that.
Trace and Sebastian are scheming with Kenzie and Dane...and I LOVE IT! I was hoping those two would be pushed together. I can't wait to see what is in store for those two...and I can't wait to read about Kenzie's past.
"Player!" (Walker Brothers Book 2) by J.S. Scott is a great read. I enjoyed Sebastian and Paige's story. This is a great addition to this series. I can't wait to see what happens with Dane! This story has passion, romance, family, hot billionaires, overcoming traumatic events, new beginnings, happy endings, and more. Highly recommend to all fans of romance.
What a wonderful surprise!! J.S. Scott has done it again!! And pulled off a surprise while doing it. This was a great second installment in the Walker Brothers series with well written characters and a fun story line. As always, a great read from J.S!
Player is another winner for JS Scott. I just love reading her books as they are full of love, passion and of course an Alpha male.
Player is book 2 of the Walker Brothers story and we get to know Sebastian, the playboy in his younger days, Now he is working with his brother Trace and developing Solar farms to produce solar energy for the country.
Then one fateful day to work he ends up in the elevator with the new company attorney, Paige and he is immediately aroused just being near her. However, Paige wants nothing to do with him and has put up walls against any relationship.
Needless to say, Sebastian doesn't give up very easily and figures a way to get Paige to go out to a party with him. Unfortunately Paige sees someone from her past that causes her to go into a tailspin. Sebastian is torn between hurting someone and loving Paige. As each of them learned about each other, the passion begins to heat up and love begins to emerge.
This book deals with a hard subject, but deals it with such grace, honesty and a HEA. This book is a must read and I can't wait for the next Walker Brother book as I know it will be fantastic.
Can be read as a standalone. Characters: Very detailed and developed. Subject Matter: Deals with .the aftermath of date rape. Heat: Spicy and Passionate
I'm a big fan of J. S. Scott's words. I'll read anything she writes and she never seems to disappoint. While there's something about her books that is uniquely her, each book I read from her has its own differences and qualities that never seem to get stale. This book is no exception.
This is the second book of the walker brothers books, a spin off of sorts from the billionaire's obsession books, and follows Sebastian. Even though this is in a series it does stand alone and you don't need to have read any of the previous books to enjoy this. You'll probably want to read them as well though, lol.
Sebastian is a player with a pretty bad rep. He's decided that it's time to grow up and move back into the fold of his brothers business. Here he meets Paige, a new lawyer at the firm. She doesn't seem interested and he is intrigued to say the least as this is not a reaction he is used to.
This has it all. It was romantic with some humour but was emotional as well and dealt with some tough subjects. It also had plenty of hotness thrown in too. The characters were all very good and I loved Paige and Sebastian. The story flowed along great and I was hooked from the get go.
This was a super enjoyable read that left me smiling when I finished. An excellent addition to the series. I can't wait for the turn of the youngest walker brother. His story looks to be another great one.
I received this book as an ARC for a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we get Sebastian Walker's story and we are introduced to Paige Rutledge. When these two are introduced to one another it is Paige's first day on the job as a new attorney for Walker industries. She has an instant dislike for Sebastian due to the reputation that she has heard about him. Over time though she learns that there is more to Sebastian that just his player ways. He is a dedicated worker and is loyal to his family in every way possible. Can she give this man a chance even though he is technically her employer?
Sebastian knows what his past has been like but he doesn't let that stand in his way for his future. He is determined to prove to not only his doubters but his family as well that he is a changed man. He wonders though who is this woman who has opened him up to the idea of dating again. He also wonders what he has done to offend her so badly that she hates him on sight. Will he be able to open up the only woman to turn his head in at least a year?
This is the second book in the Walker Brother novel's it can be read as a stand alone but would be better after Trace. This book shows how past hurts can effect your future in ways you never original thought. There are many ups and downs in this book that I want to tell you all about but don't want to ruin anything for any other readers. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
I loved this book as I seem to with all J S Scotts' books that I have read.
The sparks that flew between the rwo main characters - Paige and Sebastian were explosive in places.
Sebastian is a well known player. Never tied down and a reputation he has lived up to. He has, however, gotten really involved with a certain project in his work with his Company with his brother.
He bumps into Paige - a new addition to the company - she has just begun her career as an attorney with the company.
She is determined to be the best she can and knows of Sebastian's playboy reputation. She resists all his advances but he is determined to get to know her better.
Their story will break your heart in places and uplift you in others. You will never be bored and this book is one you won't put down and you will want it to never end.
J S Scott can't write a bad story and this one is a ripper. sexy as heck. characters to love and emotions to twist out of you. Five stars all the way. Loved it to smithereens!!!!!
An excellent read that was quick. I loved reading about Sebastian and Paige. Who am I kidding....I love ALL the Walker brother's and we haven't even met the baby.
In this story, she once again touches on an extremely sad situation that more people are faced with than we realize. I also enjoyed how their relationship was there. It wasn't one were they doubted the relationship or went back and forth. For the most part, it was them against the world. I liked that.
If you're familiar with her work then you know how talented she is so this is another must read. If she is new to you, what are you waiting for. Jump on the JS train!!!
I love the 1st book in this series Release and learn some about Sebastian. This book I learned more about him and how he wanted to change his ways and he meet Paige and he recognizance a person hiding secrets because he also was hiding a secret too. The relationship between Sebastian and Paige bloomed into love and the told each other their secrets and healed each other. I recommend this book!
The middle brother: ex player now serious businessman, the other half of Walker Enterprises. A changed man whose fallen for the level one lawyer at first sight. They fight their emotions Sebastian because it's a foreign feeling, and Paige because a painful, tortuous past makes her wary of Rich men. The Walker brothers story is captivating.
