Safety in the suburbs? Not in this Apocalypse.

Fifteen-year-old Liam Peters successfully rescued his 104-year-old great-grandmother from the worst of the Zombie Apocalypse in the urban chaos. They're finally in the suburbs, ready to enjoy the safety and calm they've sought. All he has to do is get Grandma Marty to his parents and he'll be free of the burden of caring for her.

As a voracious reader of zombie books, Liam knows nothing is ever as simple as it seems during the Zombie Apocalypse. While they race for his suburban home, the swelling zombie horde catches up and ensures there's no peace or security for anyone. Liam's entanglement with a military convoy sets events in motion which reveal the presence of a strange research facility, a refuge filled with Boy Scouts, and the first hint of a cure to the Ebola Squared zombie virus.

He endures many challenges in the hills and forests outside the sprawl, and learns someone is chewing up test subjects in their quest for that cure. Only when he stumbles upon a mass grave does he finally see the direct threat to his grandma.

Siren Songs is the exciting second installment of E. E. Isherwood’s hit post-apocalyptic series Sirens of the Zombie Apocalypse. If you like to watch society collapse, zombie hordes bear down on the heroes, and skin-of-teeth escapes, you won’t be able to put down this awesome read!

E.E. Isherwood has been a storyteller for over 30 years. Initially the muse took the form of childish comic strips. As a teen it manifested itself under the guise of Dungeons and Dragons adventures. In college it culminated with a Master's thesis on Missouri geography—an extremely boring kind of story. Three decades and several careers later he realized that siren song never stopped, so he began to author books. A life-long enthusiast of apocalyptic fiction, writing about zombies was his passion. Future titles in science fiction and fantasy are in the hopper. He lives in the St. Louis, Missouri area, where his series of zombie books takes place.

Dreams telling the future. Government hitlists. Secret experiments needing old people. Why can't zombie books just stick to normal zombies and survival?

Lethal

The survivors are not going to have a good day. Hayes an ass. Liam is going to get grandma back and deal with Hayes. Hope most of the survivors make it out to help Liam.

Siren Songs, book 2, is even more entertaining than book one. It's written by E. E. Isherwood so I got just what I expected: a great series. I'm looking forward to reading book 3 to discover what happens with Liam, his family and especially, Victoria. I highly recommend everything written by Mr. Isherwood. He is definitely one of my favorite apocalypse writers.

Since the Sirens is a very good first novel. Like another review, Christian zombie novels are not my thing. However, in this story, there was no preaching. If you can suspend your disbelief enough to be okay with the premise that God, heaven and angels are all Christians, you might be able to squeak by with this story. For an indie novel, the quality is pretty good. The spelling, grammar and typographical errors are minimal. considering this is self-published.

The two main characters are at the opposite end of the spectrum. Main character One is *very* elderly, frail, spunky, tires easily, prone to needing frequent naps and adaptable. These qualities make her likable and believable. However, that she lives more or less alone is not believable.

The other main character is a young teenager. Immature, vapid, withdrawn, all believable qualities. When the zombie apocalypse occurs, he doesn't immediately become smarter than all of the adults - also believable. This makes the story more available to adult readers. However, he isn't likable enough early in the story. And authors, please, please, PLEASE, stop making your main characters asocial gamers who live in their parent's or grandparent's basements- or their own small little basement or flat, playing zombie-fighting video games! No zombie video games!!

I love that the story moves along at a great, brisk pace. Not too fast, not too slow. It doesn't get bogged down in tactical or hardware details. The author spends, for my tastes, the perfect amount of time on relationships (which is minimal). The story starts at my favorite place for zombie novels: right before the zombie apocalypse starts. I love watching the apocalypse unfold. The characters are shocked and unbelieving when the dead rise. They fumble through encounters and are nearly caught. *That's* believable.

I am not quite interested enough to read the next story in the series, based on my reading preferences.

A must read, and here's why...

I wanted something different than my usual YA Paranormal reads. Boy, did I get it with this series!

Each character is is very well written. So well that you feel like you know their innermost thoughts and feelings! There is just enough descriptive writing on the surrounding scenes that you can almost smell the smoke and hear the sounds around them. You become vested in their plight and trials with the expertise of this writing.

Liam is a great kid who is transforming into one of my all time favorite heroes! Not bad for a fifteen year old gamer! Grandma Marty is a true heroine in her own right. I cannot wait to read from her perspective with each new chapter and hear what each "dream" she has will uncover! Victoria, well, let's just say this; she is the fuel that drives Liam in his continuing quest to protect Grandma and all that is dear to him.

There are so many new characters that are just as noteworthy in this review. Mel and her background story along with Phil and his past, are quickly becoming paramount to the success of this group. Mom and Dad and their "expertise" on the situation, are as well, a staple that holds it all together!

I hope I haven't given too much away. I definitely, fervently, recommend this series to all who love a great, post apocalyptic, adventure!

Entertaining and easy read

This storyline has good structure. Nice to read a book that is not trying to be so overly complex that it loses you. This is not a 1,000 page epic journey of good v. evil, nor is it a hard-core violet zombie book. It does not try to force some other belief down your throat either. It is simply part of a good story arc that traces a zombie/plague scenario through the eyes of a person who is trying to make sense of it all. This is a good follow up to the first book.

Great Story!

Loved the first, loved this one! Am already for the next! Sherwood weaves a excellent story. Characters are great. All I want to know is why no one writers a complete story, no 'next installment. I wouldn't mind reading a huge time, as long as it entertains, which Isherwood does in spades!!!!!

A different take on the zombie apocalypse

Liam continues to try to keep Grandma safe. Love the commitment to family and the desire to help others. A Faith connection and a possible angel giving vague clues to Grandma.
