Andres and Riley are solidly poly, so I wouldn't recommend this fic to the poly averse. Because these two get off on the others escapades. So this is basically porn. Good porn! I don’t know how Cordelia Kingsbridge did it but I felt connected and warmed up to both Riley and Andres right away. Their attraction and chemistry is fantastic and I loved seeing their relationship develop even if we only (or mostly) get to see it when they have sex and/or scene together.
And although this is a string of sexual encounters between the two, and it’s probably not meant to read it back to back, the author managed to every time add something different and new and exciting to the scenes so it never got boring. And damn it just was so freaking hot.
Content Warning : the MCs are sexually not exclusive at any time (there is on sex page with other people) but I’d say they definitely become romantically exclusive at the end of the series (see next quote). The end of this last installment doesn’t come with a classic romance HEA and is not easily satisfying as such for someone who is not familiar with what can translate to serious and committed in a D/s relationship. Maybe also because the series is open-ended and the author always intended to write more but never did. Anyhow my expectations indeed needed a little adjustment. But the author addressed the depth their relationship had at the end here on AO3 in the comment section of this last part and it did make sense to me then even if I still had wished for more.

But on a side note: I'm all for people having the freedom of open relationships, it’s consensual after all. But if it’s not it’s cheating. And that’s exactly what Riley did to his ex-boyfriend for the whole two years they were together in high school without doing anything about it at the time. Sure, he was only a selfish teenager then and remorseful, but still I’m taking a few little points off my rating, even tho it also makes it kind of real. Ugh, I'm conflicted. *lol
And now that thanks to Snjez (♥︎) I’m able to create my own pretty little epubs I bunched up these twelve fabulous shorts into one, slapped a bow onto it and enjoyed this “old” read all over again. (you have no idea how much I hated these twelve coverless snippets in my kindle library *lol)
…while at the same time hoping Cordelia Kingsbridge comes back someday with something new written for us. Her writing and storytelling, her characters and the intensity of their relationships really does it for me.

I wasn't gonna do this. I was actually gonna leave this series behind without rating, since it started out strong, but then steadily declined for me.
It might be too much to read this series in one 'go', since I got sort of 'numb' to everything the further I got.
Riley however and the had me seeing red and rolling my eyes SO SO hard, that I had to 'purge' my angry feelings, for lack of a better term.
This might contain mild spoilers! But let's be honest: this series is erotic smut, and not a mystery with red herrings and 17 different suspects:-)
Okay first of all, this review covers the whole series (12 'verses' so far).
And let me start by saying that the dirty talk and the kink and the feminization was... *still fanning my face* Holy shizzle, Miss Kingsbridge certainly has a way with words and knows how to write a freaking SIZZLING scene.
The thing is I really don't mind poly-couples. I wouldn't normally CHOOSE to read about them, since I need the sex and the feelings to have some sort of special meaning (generalising, yes I know! But I don't know how else to BRIEFLY describe my feelings for this topic.)
However this series left me grumbling and really angry at the end.
The 'talk' came WAAAAY too late IMO. And none of 'the talk' rang true.
I got the feeling -when reading the whole series in one sitting,- that Riley was NOT proud of his extracurricular activities. He didn't want to talk to Andres about them, and I sort of got the feeling that he felt bad about the situation.
Though not bad enough to stop.
What really got my grumbling going though, was this:
“You know,” Andres said, “I tend to believe that the mistakes people make are less important than how they react to them. You were a teenager in your first relationship and you acted selfishly. I don’t care about that so much as I do about this: would you ever do it again?”
“God, no,” said Riley. “Never. I’d never even put myself in another position where that was a possibility.”
TA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Absolved of your cheating, lying ways. Just. Like. That.
What really had me angry though was that Riley was old enough to make up his own mind about scening, but not old enough to be a decent human being?
Riley held Andres’ gaze as he spoke. “I’ve been scening since I was sixteen, and I’ve never done anything that wasn’t one hundred percent consensual on both sides. The age of consent in D.C. is sixteen, just like it is here. I know a lot of people would have a problem with it anyway, but I don’t believe I’ve ever been taken advantage of, and I think my perspective on my own experiences should be considered the most valid one.”
Just... *ugh*
I didn't care for Riley and I didn't care for Andres and Riley's so-called relationship. They didn't talk (it came way too late), it felt fabricated that Riley supposedly suddenly developed feelings for Andres since they didn't talk and Andres could JUST as easily have been that RA (or TA or whatever) for example that Riley fucked a few times a week, on the side.

Well, what a nice surprise this online fiction series was! Each instalment is a chapter of the total story, but all episodes end with the characters in a happy place. Very talented of the writer to make that happen. The guys make a great pairing, and I enjoyed the gradual revelation of more layers of their personalities being shown as the story moved along. And I couldn't possible write a review without mentioning how hot this piece of erotica was. Scorching!

This review is for the whole series. 4.25 stars. I do normally prefer my stories to have some sort of plot and backstory, but as I'm really enjoying the Seven of Spades series by the author, thought I would take a chance on this fanfic freebie series of ficlets on Archive Of Our Own. Definitely worth it, they were well-written with hardly any typos, and to say I was gobsmacked at the amount of sex Riley had had in his short life [bearing in mind he's only 18] would be a huge understatement!! Yes, he's promiscuous [but always consensual and safe thank goodness] with no hang ups, he adores bottom sex and the rougher the better, so when he meets Andres, a Dom and hot, strapping Boston Police Officer in a club one night, there are fireworks 🔥🔥🔥.
Yes, there is a lot of sex....more in some ficlets than others, there is no guaranteed HEA I'm afraid but I can only hope the author writes more 'Boston Verse' in future, although that will probably be much more difficult now that he/she's [who knows nowadays??] has hit the big time with a 'mainstream' publisher.

I really don’t care for the way this ended, at all, but we’ll get back to that in a minute. The much more pressing issue is in regards to Riley’s ex, Dylan, and what we learned about their history. The entire subplot with Riley’s ex was thrown in at the last minute and I did not appreciate it one bit. Andres and Riley wait until the 11th hour to even hint at a discussion of them being together and then that bombshell is dropped on us? It was disgusting and I’m appalled.
There was no true “relationship” formed here, certainly no HEA, and a surprise at the end to top it all off.
So, not recommended if you want to read an exclusive, monogamous relationship. I have nothing against open relationships - you do you - but I do have a problem with that twist being thrown at the reader at the last minute with zero resolution or closure. And yes, they both sleep with other people throughout the series but they were more fwb, so I thought it’d end once they actually talked about their feelings. Clearly, that’s not the case.

I read all 12 available parts of this free and ongoing online series today, so my review is about the whole series, so far.
The kink is hot. The story is hot. The MC are...yep, hot! They also genuinely get along, like each other, and their sexual preferences line up. It's a match made in fiction heaven.
But...this last instalment left me cold. Which proved to me why I can't read a series until it's complete.
Why?
Because, with these two men, I need to know that when it ends...after it's all said and done...they will still end up together. And I'm not after monogamy. These two will clearly never be the type, and that's fine with me. But there was an inkling here. A minuscule idea that that's where they're headed. But...I'm not a patient person. And their "heart to heart" pissed me off because the words I wanted to read WERE NOT written on the page.
So it's 4 stars from me. Because it was hot, and I couldn't stop reading. But let it be known, that even though it was cute, I am also in no way satisfied with this ending. ;)

Overall this whole fan fiction was a solid 4.75 stars
There are so many adjectives that I can use to describe these short sexy, lustful, slutty fictions. I read each tag that was given to each fic but I (my own personal hang up) just didn't like that Riley sleep with other guys but I guess that was his kink within his self. But what really through me was that Andres was turned on by it also. BUT that (personal) little hiccup did not detract from how erotic these stories were. Great writing. I hate that I can't read anymore of her work.

This review is for all 12 stories. Awesome! So hot! I loved both Andres and Riley. It's satisfying where this story ended, but I wish there had been dozens more. This author knows how to write a kinky sex scene! 🔥🔥🔥

hmmm this is a toughie for me to rate. i'm fully supportive of Andres and Riley's relationship dynamic because they communicated their needs and reached a compromise together (i understand there's a difference between being romantic monogamy & sexual polygamy), but the way Riley sees his past behavior and handles the transparency of his choices? not the biggest fan.

[Rating for the entire series so far]
I absolutely loved this. Is it basically PWP? Yeah but not in a lazy sense. I liked both Riley and Andres so much. Loved the calm of their interactions that hadn't pushed for anything but what they discussed and was basically drama free. Really sex positive and the communication and acceptance here was just so sexy. I blazed right through it after thinking I'd just read the 1st one as a break from another read (absolutely did not go back to that one)! I don't know if there will be more if this but I'm hoping there will be because I had a blast reading it.

Re-read January 2025: C This mini-series didn't hold up to time, I didn't like it as much the second time I read it. First: there's a lot of swapping, swinging and sharing, the sub-hero is a man whore and the relationship between the main couple is very open. The sub-hero's promiscuity attracts the dom and sorry, that's just not my cup of tea. In the last part of the series, the sub-hero even talks about regularly cheating on his high school boyfriend. Come on ... just no. This is - in my opinion - not erotic romance but erotic fiction. The kink is quite nice but I didn't care too much about the main characters. C

Ooh this episode is a study in contrasts, from the old feelings with Dylan and then the beyond ridiculously explosive scene back in Boston after Andres collects Riley from the airport. Cordelia Kingsbridge really knows how to bring the kink but to embed it with fully realised emotions.

I wasn't happy about revelations about the past, but Riley seems to have learned from his mistakes. And as his relationship with Andres isn't monogamous, I don't have an issue with what he does now, even if it wouldn't work for me. What does work for me is seeing how Andres and Riley react to each other :D

3 stars. Well, that was certainly an ending. I didn’t love it because all of the Dylan stuff really brought any forward motion in Riley and Andres’s relationship to a halt. I wanted more romance and feelings but nope. Just sex. Hot sex, but still. I’m a bit disappointed not gonna lie. This series is still good though but upon reread I’m gonna skip these last three or so.
