I've been a fan of Patricia Ryan's books for quite a while now, so I was quite excited when I saw that she'd got some new ones coming out. Lucky me, I got my hands on this one in return for an honest review.
This is number 2 in the North Mood Bay series, a series of stand alone romances set in the same area. The Marriage Arrangement was previous released as For the Thrill of it, but this is the first time it has been out in Kindle form.
Our two main characters, Izzy and Clay get married for the sake of appearances when she finds out that she's pregnant with her ex-boyfriend's baby. Things have been going very wrong for Izzy, she lost her job, her boy friend turns out to have been just using her and has returned to England and his fiance and she's expecting his child. Clay has been one of her closest friends for years and although she's long held a bit of a candle for him, it's clear that he only see's her in the role of a little sister. He's too busy working his way through the rest of the female population to notice Izzy.
Of course, once they get married things aren't so straight forward and the chemistry starts to build...
I know that the arranged or convenient marriage often pops up in romance books, but I do enjoy it when it's done well. This one is a little different, most similar stories have a historical setting, while The Marriage Arrangement is a contemporary take on the theme.
I really enjoyed this, a good, fun read.

Izzy is pregnant and her ex is across the ocean wanting nothing to do with her or the baby. She lost her job so she has moved back home with her family. Clay has been her friend since they were kids. They run into each other at a party and he finds her sick and hiding out. She tells him what’s going on and he offers to marry her and act as the baby’s daddy to her family. It starts off as a marriage of convince but soon Clay finds he has real feelings for Izzy. And she is also falling for him but she is scared of ruining their friendship. But Clay won’t give up on Izzy and he makes a drastic move to prove it. This was a good story and I’ve loved reading the whole series.

A well written and predictable story. A pleasant couple of hours.
I liked the characters especially Harry. Clay and Izzy were different. Neither one had the determination to solve their problems. They just kind of drifted along until life took care of them. A happy ending is always a good thing.

The Marriage Arrangement...
Book 2 of the North Moon Bay series. What a delightful read. Way better than book1. The characters who are friends each find themselves in need. So they make a crazy pact. Now let the angsty drama begin. Aunt Teddy and BFF Harry are my hero's.

Satisfying friends to lovers standalone romance.
This was a very satisfying friends to lovers romance. Izzy was a bit annoying in the beginning but give her time to get her head out if her a$$. Nothing overly complicated, but Clay was amazing.

Good book
I'm not into extreme sports or even sports, but this book is really interesting. I could almost feel the excitement of the events in the book.. Couldn't put it down.

I love arranged marriage romances so I was excited when this one crossed my path. While I didn't like the fact Clay was a player and used women at his leisure, I loved his relationship with Izzy. They had been friends ever since school, Izzy, Clay, and Harry. Izzy knows Clay's reputation with women. She also knows all about his passion for extreme sports and the ridiculous risks he takes. His first wife died skiing Suicide Gulch. Although Clay claimed he did it to promote his extreme sports magazine, Izzy knew he loved the challenge, The Rush, which was the name of his publication.
When Clay discovers Izzy is pregnant and the baby's father wanted nothing to do with it, he suggests that he and Izzy get married. He's tired of people trying to play matchmaker in his life. His friend, Harry, keeps parading one bimbo after another in front of him. By marrying Izzy he could put a stop to all that. It's not like there would be any pressure involved. They were already close friends. And Izzy said she'd be perfectly fine with him seeing other women as long as he was discreet. Funny thing though, once they were married, Clay couldn't bring himself to cheat on her. Truthfully, the thought of bedding anyone but Izzy was just plain distasteful to him. It takes him awhile to figure out he loves her but when he tells her she doesn't respond. She can't. Not as long as he's risking his life on a stupid stunt. He's thinking about skiing Suicide Gulch again.
Really liked the story. Izzy's huge Italian family was a hoot and the interaction among the three good friends was a pleasant addition as well. While the plot was predictable, an arranged marriage, it was still well written and highly entertaining. I loved the way Izzy's family embraced Clay, something he wasn't used to. His parents hadn't cared enough to even come to the wedding, which pretty much reflected their attitude towards Clay his entire life. It was particularly touching when Izzy and her family threw a big birthday party for Clay. He'd never had anyone celebrate his birthday before and couldn't believe anyone would go to the trouble now. The cake, the singing, the gifts . . . but more than that, to be surrounded by people who genuinely cared, was almost more than he could bear.
