The only thing scarier than disembodied voices and misty apparitions reaching out from beyond the grave, is spending two weeks with your ex-boyfriend’s terrifying and deranged family. When Sadie Smith had agreed to travel to England for her friend’s wedding, she’d thought her free time would be spent investigating abandoned castles for signs of the paranormal. Instead, the threats to her sanity came in the form of a family whose idea of a good time was casually joking about poisoning each other and trying to force their common enemy, Jefferson Parrish, into an insane asylum where they thought he belonged. But even with the glaringly masochistic family trying their best to make Sadie leave town, a hint of truth resides in their many lies. The truth about what happened to Jefferson’s childhood friend who went missing in the woods behind his house when he was young. Even estranged from her boyfriend, Sadie knows Jefferson had nothing to do with the disappearance, and must clear his name with hints coming to her from beyond the grave, before his family succeeds in locking him up.

I'm always a bit wary about books with ghosts as the main topic. Not only am I the world's biggest scaredy cat, but they tend to just rehash the same plot over and over again, and this is coming from a girl who reads AT LEAST ten werewolf books a month. Shannen Crane Camp's Parrish was a welcomed surprise. The characters were complex and interesting, the plot unique and fresh, and the mystery kept my eyes glued to my kindle for hours on end. I was smitten, and more than a bit upset when I came to that dreaded last page.
Waiting for this book to come out definitely tested my patience, but, oh boy, was it worth it.
Fade contains just as much of that delicious blend of mystery, humor, and romance that Parrish had, but somehow I loved it even more. We dive into the past of the insane goofball that is Jefferson Parrish, and learn more about his infamous family, who are truly as awful as described. The romance between Sadie and Jefferson is explored even more, and their relationship becomes even more interesting, and even more complicated. Sadie grows so much as a character throughout this book, and begins to understand that it's okay to fray from society's norms. As much as I loved her in the first book, her character development was wonderful.
The one and only complaint I had about this book was the shortage of Brighton and Deacon time, but I'm sure the next book will have more of them, so I can't even stay that angry about that. There wasn't much about this book, or the first one for that fact, that I didn't love, and I'm eager to see where Shannen Camp takes the rest of the series!
This book it great fun. Young love, family turmoil, and ghosts! It's great, the characters are all so believable and likeable (except for the ones you're meant to hate) I can't wait for the next book.
I loved the focus on solving a childhood mystery and the look into Jefferson's past. The character's kept their personalities while also showing growth, which I appreciated. There was not as much paranormal activity as the previous book, but the central mystery made up for it.
I honestly can’t get enough of these characters and their adventures. I absolutely loved every moment. This series is the perfect mix of mystery, comedy, romance, friendship, and happy endings. I would love more stories about this group of friends and their ghost hunting adventures!!
Loved this book! I loved the first book Parrish, but I really love this one. This was definitely a spook-tacular read. I can’t wait to find out what happens on their next paranormal investigation.
I am absolutely in love with this series and I can't for more. Sadie is such a funny character and I love her narration. Jefferson Parrish.... I love his intensity and him and Sadie's relationship. Honestly I just love the whole gang of Gist hunters. I will re-read this book often. Loved it.
I absolutely loved this book! There were so many unanswered questions from the first book that were explained in the sequel. I am already eager to read the next book!! I also love how Shannen tied together so many of her other books into this world. I can't wait to read more about the Parrish world. Thank you Shannen for such wonderful stories!
Meet the Parrish Family (creepier than the Addams Family)
The Parrish boys do it again! Who better to bring you to a creepy house that breathes. The investigative crew meet up with Jefferson's even creepier family.
Meet the creepy eccentric family Jefferson can't stand, but is always talking about.
Can Sadie handle the truth about Jefferson? Better yet, can Jefferson win her heart back?
"He will not be gagged. He will not be unconscious,"...said. "And you will not be burying him in our future graves as a sign of undying love. You'll take him to the pub and remind him how lucky he is to have me in his life to keep him safe from you."
Jefferson Parrish is a once in a lifetime character that authors thrive to create.
