How to Improve Your Fly Fishing & Catching

Rate this book
How to Improve Your Fly Fishing & Catching is a book of tips - brief bits of information to help you think; to remind you of what it takes to catch a trout and other related information. (Beginners are advised to read my first book - How to Fly Fish for Trout, the First Book to Read and spend some time on the water before reading this book.)

(Due to feedback from readers it is important to know the definition of a "Tip" before purchasing. This is NOT a comprehensive instruction book - it is a book of reminders and bits of information. There are many resources you can go to for more in-depth information. In my world I have found that a tip is usually all that is needed to set a fellow angler on the right path.)

Fly fishing is an ever-evolving sport. We reach various plateaus in our knowledge and skills which require some agent to move us forward. This book is one of those agents. It contains some very simple and commonsense tips on how to improve your fly fishing and catching. Nothing earth shattering or new to the universe, I can assure you, but embracing these concepts will surely make your time on the water more productive and more fun.

Who am I to tell you how to improve your fly fishing? I ask myself this question each time I find share one of these tips with a buddy. I am not an expert or a professional fly fisher. Just a guy who enjoys the sport and has for some time. I hope you find this book helpful and please take a look at my website, Tomsfishingstories.com. Tight lines!

30 tips that are fun to read while offering some of the information that fly fishers need to know but may not know to ask. This is my way of helping other fisherpersons re-discover the joy of fly fishing and catching.

Please note - Kindle is always in color. The 1st edition of this book in print is in Black and White. There is a 2nd edition which has been updated and is printed in color for those who prefer it. I continue to offer the 1st as it is less expensive for those who don't mind B&W.

Perhaps the authors first book provides more practical information. If you are looking for tips to to improve your success this book falls short. For example one tip to help catch more fish is to spend more time on the water. My view is that this is actually bad advise as this will led to the development of bad habits, frustration and ultimately distaste for the sport. Ironically the author stated that one of the virtues of fishing fishing is exposing others to productive areas to increase their success only to later show a picture of a "secret spot". It's an ok read but I would not recommend the book it's not specific enough to improve "Fly Fishing and Catching".

Well written, honest and funny.

As an avid fly fisherman from Maine who relocated to SW Montana there is a ton to identify with. I would recommend this to beginners or as a winter read for fellow fly flippers who need their fix.
