Two kinky novels -- over 200,000 words -- from EPIC Award winner Lauren Gallagher, including Reconstructing Meredith, winner of 2011 National Readers' Choice Award (Erotic Category) and 2012 finalist for both the National Leather Association Pauline Reage Novel Award and the EPIC Awards!
Kristen Locke is sexually frustrated and insatiably curious. Meredith Whitley is deeply traumatized and in search of a caring hand to help her heal.
Two very different women with two very different stories, but their answers both come in the form of Scott Moore, a snarky Dom with an impressive dungeon and a huge heart.
In Light Switch, Scott guides Kristen into the world of BDSM along with her voyeur neighbor, Matt Sommers. In Reconstructing Meredith, Scott’s ex-girlfriend returns with a heartbreaking story, far too many physical and emotional scars, and a desperate need to reclaim the sexuality that another man tried to crush.
Through two stories of self-discovery and rediscovery, exploring and healing, two women find love where they least expect it, and find themselves always wanting Moore…
Light Switch and Reconstructing Meredith were previously published, and are also available individually.
I am finally done with this book after almost 2 months. I am giving these stories an average of a 2.37 star rating. I thought these stories would have been better has short stories.
Light Switch (2.25 stars)-This is the story of Kristen. At the beginning we find that her boyfriend cheats on her due to the fact that she was not exciting enough in the bedroom and didn't want to try anything new. Unbeknownst to him, she is an exhibitionist that likes for her neighbor Matt to watch her dress and undress through her window.
To prove that she isn't everything her boyfriend thought she was gets help from her friend, Scott Moore, who is a dominant. Kristen has the ultimate fantasy of having a hot friend who is a dominant that is willing to introduce her to the lifestyle.
"I want you too submit to me, not the image of a dom." I liked Scott (can't say loved) as a dom. He shattered the untruths of what Kristen thought a dom should be and act like. He wanted to establish dominance and trust in and outside of the bedroom. He wanted to earn her respect ad that and not because they were friends.
Farther into the story it gets really boring. Everything gets repetitive. It has no excitement, no angst, nothing to look forward to. She starts a relationship with her neighbor Matt. She comes to the dilemma in exploring her sexuality of falling in love with 2 men. Kristen doesn't want to make a choice because it will hurt someone's feelings and she loves them both the same. The 2 relationships don't take away from one another. This was not an ending that caught my attention but what really brought the rating down was that the ending was too convenient where everything worked out and everyone was happy with being in a relationship with each other.
Reconstructing Meredith (2.5 stars)-This is the story of Meredith. Meredith came out of an abusive dom/sub relationship with her ex-husband. She contacts Scott, who is an ex-boyfriend, to find her a dom to help her pick up the pieces of her life and to help her take hold of her sexuality again. Scott doesn't trust anyone but himself to accomplish this. "I want her to surrender control to me, but it had to be off her own free will. Conscious submission, not passive surrender". This was Scott's plan to help Meredith get back to being the confident and brave woman he knew her to be.
The couple had a lot of bumps and setbacks and it had taken a toll on Scott. He realized that he still loved her throughout all those 7 years they haven't seen each other. They had seemed to reverted back to old habits in this relationship. Meredith wanted just a friendship at the beginning knowing she had a lot of demons still lurking from her marriage, but Scott pushes for a relationship. In the end they end up together and it seems convenient for everyone involved. This story was better than the other, but still it had nothing to look forward to.
These stories got to be repetitive and boring. Everything doesn't have to be a happy ending. It didn't have a feel of being realistic. As I stated before, these could have been short stories without the unwanted details.
................................................................................................ ................................................................................................ Wanting Moore, by Lauren Gallagher. ................................................................................................ ................................................................................................
Is it wrong for someone to want more, wrong just by being of the other gender?
Once, not too long ago, that would generate brickbats and abusive treatment, from everybody - Ryan's Daughter, anyone? - and John Galsworthy was considered revolutionary for the first book of his Forsyte Saga.
For that matter there are films galore through decades since, depicting quite truthfully, just how dangerous it can get for a woman to attempt leaving someone she cannot live with - Sleeping With The Enemy, Enough, ....
Times have changed, but not by much - she may dare to begin a journey into unknown, leaving the shore of an unsatisfactory relationship, if she dare. ................................................................................................
The rest of it reads more like a catalogue of sadism outfitted with what's supposed to be a story with characters who aren't real as much as advertising tools for the practices described, and one wonders if the author identity really is of a human female, so distanced she seems from concerns of women not imaginary; is this a computer software writing in name of a woman? No woman of whatever age could be so unaware of concerns discussed on Oprah Winfrey show about females in U.S. being kidnapped and kept imprisoned, tortured apart from rape, murdered, mutilated and more; this book seems designed yo make it look attractive! There is worse than fraud involved in this attempt.
I am uncertain about who bought this from Amazon and why; it probably was a mistake made while buying a great deal of other, mostly worthy, books in one go. One owes an apology to oneself.
And the book gets boring, fast.
Reading it on, after a point arrived early, can only be explained in words of Leonard Hofstadter as he explains to Penny, in Big Bang Theory, why he must wear the horrible sweater Sheldon asked him to wear. ................................................................................................ ................................................................................................
This books starts off with Kristen breaking up with her boyfriend because things have become a bit too boring & stagnant. It also describes how over the past few weeks she has been teasing her neighbour by undressing in her bedroom window, fully knowing that he can see her. This continues for a few more weeks after her breakup, and during this time she begins to experiment a little with her good friend Scott some BDSM activities.
I really liked when Kristen, Matt & Scott experimented & Matt wore the blindfold, that was a great twist...
At first she experiments with being a sub for Scott, then she practises being a Domme. Things seem simple, until they’re not, & feelings get involved. I really liked the story as a whole, including the short epilogue. The only thing I would have added would be a run in with her ex a few weeks/months later, where she could tell him that he was wrong & life was indeed much better without him.
It’s quite an entertaining read. I will enjoy reading this book again in the future.
The story is really, really interesting & original. There are a few minor typos here & there, but not enough to distract from the story as a whole.

The 2nd book... Wow... A great 2nd book in the series.... Sometimes the second book is not as good as the first, since we know what to expect, but it’s just sooooo good.
The story begins with Meredith calling Scott up one night asking for his help, and - although it seems unlikely - they end up in bed that night, despite how unsure she is of herself.
This is the story of Scott (a guy with more than one girlfriend- all in open relationships) & how he helps Meredith get over some traumatic experiences with a terrible ex of hers who called himself a Dom - though he was more of a wife beater & rapist, really.
What is just so good about this story is that it’s told from Scott’s point of view completely, and we see how helping Meredith really affects all aspects of his life. Normally this kind of story would be told either in alternating viewpoints or from the victim’s perspective. We see, through Scott’s eyes, how he also has to deal with what happened to her, even if he wasn’t in the picture when she was being mistreated.
One of the best chapters is when he is fixing her music box... The description goes from the steps he’s using to fix the box, to questions about life & the future and how to help himself & Meredith move forward.
There are a few minor typos, but nothing at all that takes away from the story. I would have liked to see more of Scott with Kristen, but it really was more Meredith's story.
It’s just a fantastic read! I will be rereading it for sure!
I quite enjoyed the first half of this duet - Light Switch. The journey into submission felt well paced and very hot. The secondary relationship with Matt was good, with lots of anticipation. I was a little disappointed with the final resolution of the 3-way relationship, and felt that labelling it as polyamory was incorrect. Open relationship would be more accurate, in my opinion.
As for the second story, about Meredith, I admit to not finishing it. Victim stories are a guilty pleasure for me, so that part of the story was good, but otherwise it felt like a re-hash of every kink scene in book 1, with minor breaks for freak outs and doubts. Meredith was so strong and ready to overcome her past that I found myself skimming a lot, only to come upon the same sex as I'd already read.
This series is very well written, but it just didn't hold my attention all the way to the end.
These books r ones I have thoroughly enjoyed. When wanting to warm up, these wonderful books r ur perfect medication 2 take. The only thing that kinda did me in, was edge fact that nothing really took off like I expected. What is BDSM if there isn't some type of drama to work thru.
Don't get me wrong, the second book has drama in spades. But a good rescue scene in each book would have ramped me up more that the story line the way it is written. I gave it 4 stars bc of the BDSM scenario of the story line was so hot. However, even though I could relate to Merideth's situation, I couldnt bring myself to actually feel her pain or horrors. That may b my own hang-ups, so I would get the book, but b careful u might not b able 2 put it down.
Scott, Matt and Kristen's story keep me amused and laughing. The characters and their personalities were done so well that you hated to put the book down and wanted to finish it. Love a book that keeps you interested throughout. book 2 Meredith's story did not flow as well as book 1 but it was a good and enjoyed.
Book 1 was so light and entertaining, you enjoyed the way they played, and book 2 was a little harder for me, but it was nice to see her story told, and see how Scott handled it with Matt and Kristen. Well worth the read of both books. They opened your eyes, made to laugh and want to smack the crap out of the creep..... enjoy, well written and nicely done.
Wow went inn expecting one book received two from opposite ends of the spectrum of heat, hurt, love, self survival, recovery, self love, release of shame, etc.
We meet Krissy coming out of a mental and insufficient relationship seeking life and excitement. There's Matt, the neighbor/secret crush and Scott the friend and unexpected got the hots for.
Then book two we meet Meredith, Scott's ex that disappeared from life. She's been through hell and back seeking to learn EVERYTHING again.
These books can get dark, very erotic, heartbreaking and soul searching so you must be open to handle them but their very much worth it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I could not wait to continue reading the next chapter. I would like to know if they did get married and even had children. Thank you for an enjoyable book. (Some grammatical mistakes made which got past your proof readers) but otherwise brilliant.
This duo is a great pair. I've read both books individually. This set is great to read together. The first one, Light Switch is one I loved. Reconstructing Meredith, I didn't enjoy as much. For those who like Cherise Sinclair and Tymber Dalton, this is another author who is good to read.
Loved it. Really want to know about what happens next
A few posts were show to get through, but overall the books were wonderful. I love Scott, Kristen, Matt and Meredith. Just hope to see what the men decide to do our when they do. Maybe a book about future wedding/honeymoons???
To the fullest. The first book was funny and chemistry filled. The second was enlightening on how she (Meredith) was able to overcome what happened in the past. Great books!
