FROM ENGLISH GAY ROMANCE AUTHOR, L.M. BROWN

Their love could save the soul of a fallen angel or damn an archangel to an eternity in Hell.

The realm of angels was created as a paradise where angels could watch over the earth as mankind took his first steps. For the archangel Michael, it is the only home he has ever known and he could never envisage another life. Michael’s life changes the day his path crosses that of the favoured son of the morning. From the moment he sees him, Michael wants Lucifer for his own. When the two angels come together the passion surprises them both.

Their love is forged in Heaven, but is doomed the moment Lucifer falls from grace to become the leader of an army of demons.

Separated by war, the former lovers know the time will come when they must face each other in battle.

Their confrontation will set in motion events that neither could have foreseen. For Lucifer it is the chance to persuade Michael to stand at his side, as his partner as leader of the demons. For Michael, it is a mission to save his lover’s soul, while risking his own.

Torn between his love for Lucifer and his duties as an angel, Michael walks a fine line, where one wrong step could result in his own fall from Heaven, and an eternity in Hell.

I live in England, in a quaint little village that time doesn't seem to have touched. No, wait a minute- that's the retirement biography. Right now I am in England in a medium sized town that no one has ever heard of, so I won't bore you with the details. Keeping me company are numerous sexy men. I just wish that they weren't all inside my head.

Please note, L.M. Brown is no longer active on Goodreads. Although she does occasionally check in to comment on another's blog the visits are few and far between.

Having "mm romance" main characters engage in heterosexual sex ON THE PAGES is an unforgivable sin that earns an automatic 1 star from me. I wish I could rate it zero stars.

The two main characters, after an initial MMFM foursome, then go on to engage in this sexual arrangement on an ongoing basis, because it wouldn't be "mm romance" unless you managed to shoehorn a female into the bedroom, would it?

Disgusting. Homophobic and abhorrent.

This book… Where do I begin? There was so much happening in this story and it takes place over centuries! Yes, centuries. It begins before Lucifer’s fall from grace and follows him long after. It’s told entirely in Michael’s POV however.

Archangel Michael begins with admiring Lucifer’s beauty and when Lucifer realizes Michael’s love is everything to him he never lets him go. When this book started I immediately wondered how this could possibly work. The ruler of the Underworld and the leader of the Archangels? I read it with that in mind. I tried not to be surprised when choices were made and decisions were followed through. But, it’s a very emotional story.

Lucifer and Michael, I’ll admit, are smoking hot when they are together. The level of sex in this book is off the charts. But, there’s so much more to this story than the sex. The passion is scorching, the plot is layers upon layers.

While reading Falling Into Darkness the author weaves us through time and circumstance. We visit many situations, tragedies, epic love, and drastic falls. We see birth, rebirth, death, and destruction. At times this book consumed me and dragged me into the pits of Hell with Michael and Lucifer, and just as easily is had me souring into the heavens with them.

There’s no question you won’t be able to put this book down. You’ll not only want to know how this can possibly end, well, you’ll NEED to know.

This is an amazing, powerful, and gripping book!

The story starts when Michael and Lucifer are both angel and covers centuries of their time together both before and after Lucifer falls. The book was long and a lot of different things happen. I liked the idea of the overall plot but I never felt any connection between these two. I was supposed to be believing this huge, dramatic love and yet I never felt any emotions and honestly I didn't see what Michael saw in Lucifer. He as aloof and stilted before he fell and then he was selfish and a real jerk afterwards. And, yes, I know he's Lucifer so being a jerk is part of the package but there was nothing there could make me think Michael would be tempted to fall for him. A lot of events happen but it's all telling and no showing. This had the set up to be packed with emotions and a great hurt/comfort trope but I felt nothing between them. Not even sexual chemistry.

I didn't care for the author's writing style at all and it was difficult for me to even finish the story. I would have dnf if it wasn't for a arc/review. I was hate reading by 65% and I skimmed a lot because I had zero connection to the MC's and I was not at all invested in their story.

*I recommend reading the Heavenly Sins trilogy to better understand the world and some events that occur there that will get a better understanding here*
I loved this book! I actually wanted their story and it became a reality . And it was made even more special when I saw the dedication page. We get the story of how Lucifer and Michael came together. The story started where Michael and Lucifer 1st began their relationship before Lucifer fell from Heaven and continued into the angel and demon war where they were reconnected. The story expands over centuries and catches up to the timeline in the trilogy and then goes beyond that to reach the conclusion. For readers who read the trilogy there was a certain group scene between Lucifer and Michael and 2 other demons, well that had a surprising consequence. That surprise connected with the triad characters from the trilogy. And a surprising act that occurred in book 3 was similar to a twist that Michael chose in this book, that added more drama and an obstacle for him and Lucifer to find their happiness. I will say that the book ended the way it began, and I was greatly satisfied, and for those who will have questions at the end. I did too and asked the author about it which I'll post in the spoiler section where after you read the book you can come check it out your self:

The moment I noticed that L.M. Brown had another book set in her Heavenly Sins world I knew I had to have it. While Falling Into Darkness is set in that world it will work as a stand-alone. This is Michael and Lucifer’s story. However fans of the Heavenly Sins series will be pleased to note that Machidiel, Tristan, and Alastor have some small appearances within these pages.

Where to begin with this review? Readers first meet Lucifer and Michael before they meet, before Lucifer’s fall, and we get swept away in their love story and how they find their happily ever after. Michael and Lucifer’s relationship begins as any bond possibly could. They see each other, meet, and decide to see where their feelings could possibly go. Since Falling Into Darkness is told solely from Michael’s perspective readers never know exactly what Lucifer is thinking when he makes some of his more drastic decisions but Michael’s reactions to them carry us through this tale.

Oh my hotness. This is one delightfully dirty read. These men can’t keep their hands off of each other and it makes for one hella hot read. Their physical attraction for one another could never possibly be questioned.

My only complaint is the rut. Michael and Lucifer and their thousands of years worth of romance gets stuck in a rut. I felt that the book itself experienced its very own rut at this time. Michael and Lucifer have different life goals. The archangel Michael wants his love for Lucifer be enough to bring him back into the realm of angels, back into the light. Lucifer is happy leading his demons and he wants nothing more than for Michael to lead beside him. It is at this impasse that I got a little bored. I still thoroughly enjoyed the book but there was this rut for both me and the lovers.

I loved this book from beginning to end. I highly recommend reading the trilogy beforehand to have a better understanding of the characters and how things work in their world. This book was full of emotion and had me crying, yelling and even laughing at some parts. I was very happy to see the return of some previous characters as well as getting the opportunity to get to know some side characters better. I really hope the author will give us future stories for Gabriel, Raphael and Michelle.

A bond of heavenly love forms between Michael and Lucifer in the realm of angels, the only paradise Michael and Lucifer will ever know after Lucifer falls from grace, leaving Michael torn between good and evil.

Falling into Darkness is a stand-alone book of Michael and Lucifer’s history before the Heavenly Sins series. Lucifer was the favored above all the angels in heaven; he was titled son of the morning by God. Michael is an archangel, one of his duties is to watch over mankind and save the souls of those worthy.

The storyline has a religious overtone as a backdrop. Falling into Darkness features the angel wars as well as the emotional drama of good versus evil. However, the main theme is the compromises made to achieve enduring love between Lucifer and Michael. Lucifer is a powerful angel, a little vain and a charlatan. What is interesting to me is, unlike other angels who break the rules, Lucifer still retained his powers to create demons, so in that sense he was a God of the underworld and perhaps an example of wickedness.

L.M. Brown has created an impressive illustration of the dilemma in regards to making the right choices. I enjoyed Michael and Lucifer’s sensual romance.

I have to be completely honest and say that I was really nervous and skeptical at first about whether I would like this book and if I would read it all the easy through. I love paranormal and sci fi books and this book is a little closer to reality then most books in this genre then I usually read with it being about heaven and hell, Angels and demons, good and bad, arch angels and the devil but I will stick with the complete honesty route and say that I truly loved this book. I was completely shocked by that and I am so very glad that I gave this book the chance it deserved because L.M. Brown wrote this book beautifully.

There is a strong pull where good and bad is concerned. It is not always easy to make the right decision. At most times it is a very hard decision to make and so easy to go with the bad because that is usually what will make you feel so good at the time. But that is what makes us human. What most humans do not realize is even angels and demons have that choice also and sometimes it is not an easy choice for them to make either and Michael learned that the hard way. Michael is ranked up their with the highest of angels and he earned that right. But sometimes he wondered if he truly deserved it.

Michael fell in love with Lucifer that first moment he seen him swimming and collecting his jewels. He may not have spoken to him immediately but he was drawn to him day after day and hoped that he would finally get the courage to talk to him one day.

One that day finally dawned on him and they finally spoke Michael was a goner. And even though Lucifer has also fallen for Michael, it was not enough for him. Lucifer has other things that he wanted and decided to take the leap and fall from grace to become the leader of the underworld. To say Michael was heartbroken is an understatement. Even though Lucifer turned a demon that did not stop the love that he felt for Him. He never gave up hope that he could help Lucifer to accept his angel status again.

It was both a rough and fun ride for these two along the centuries they spent as a couple. Their relationship caused a lot of talk about angels and demons being together but it never detoured Michael's belief that Lucifer would one day be an angel again. At the same time Lucifer was constantly trying to manipulate Michael into joining him in leading the underworld and at times Michael was truly concerned he might.

Things became really bad between the two of them when Lucifer got drunk one night on power and pushed Michael to far. Michael had to make a decision. Did he decide to be reborn and give up his memories of his time as an angel and time with Lucifer or did he continue to take the chance of Lucifer convincing him to join him in the underworld? Michael made one of the hardest decisions he could ever make and choose to give up the man he has loved for centuries and his memories of him because he knew that if not he would end up being manipulated into doing something he never wanted to do.

This is where the story truly began for them.

This book was so amazing that I was not able to put it down. I truly enjoyed this read much much much more then I ever imagined I would and I am so glad that I have this book a chance. I hope others will do the same because it is truly a magnificent read.

How could I struggle so much with a story and still give it 4.5 stars? That was the dichotomy within my thought processes while trying to accurately portray my opinions and enjoyment of this book. I loved so much of it; I cringed a hell of a lot; and I was bummed that it was a stand alone, because I’ve been literally on the edge of my seat while waiting on the next book in the Heavenly Sins series. I really needed to see how Tristan, Mac, and Alastor overcame their dilemma in the third book from that series, and I was hoping it would happen here…and it did, but…. a big part of me was happy that they ended up in a HEA and everything was settled, but I wanted to experience it first hand and not have it as a side story in this book. In a way, I feel cheated, but in another way, I am content. So yeah, I was definitely pulled in many directions. The one thing that was not in question was how well this story is told and that the writing is spot on. I may not like what happened in many places, but I loved that the author didn’t gloss over the difficult aspects, whether it was pretty or not.

But, with that being said, this story is about archangel Michael and fallen angel turned demon, Lucifer. It was beautiful and ugly. It was sweet and horrific. It was everything I love in angels and demons stories and, everything I hate, as well. So many feels for this book. So much hurt and very little comfort, at times. It was brutal, it was an emotional nightmare, and how Michael didn’t end up with whiplash is beyond me. BUT, Lucifer is now a fallen angel, and subject to the power of his demon side. He is struggling with his feelings for Michael as much as he is loving being a demon and the perks that come with it. Michael is the epitome of everything good in the world and inadvertently becomes a doormat for the only angel he has ever loved.

This book is so hard on the heart, but it ends in the most beautiful way ever. I wasn’t sure where it was going, and the journey to that happy ever after was some of the most heartbreaking I’ve ever read. So, I absolutely recommend this book and if you have not yet read the Heavenly Sins series, you should be fine reading this book. You might be a little confused when Tristan and his angels become a secondary focal point, but it won’t take away from your enjoyment of the love affair between Michael and Lucifer.
