Child Training Tips: What I Wish I knew When My Children Were Young

Rate this book
Child Training Tips is not just another interpretation on how to train a child-this book has no equal! In this updated edition of the original classic, every chapter consists of lists of symptoms that identify behavior problems and expose trouble spots in parenting. How can parents tell if they've given control of their home to their children?? How can a child be trained to obey quickly when spoken to calmly and only one time? What's gone wrong when chastisement doesn't work? How can appropriate punishments be determined? What are the most subtle signs of rebellion? How do parents accidentally train their children to disobey them? What can be expected of children at what ages? What exactly is sass and how can it be stopped? Pastor and family counselor and minister Reb Bradley answers these and many more questions like these in this best-selling child-rearing book.

As with every parenting book, not every lesson is 100% applicable, but I loved this book and plan to read it again. A lot of good, practical tips in here.

I would recommend this book to every parent- seasoned or just starting out. Reb is constantly bringing scripture into the conversation and encouraging consistent, godly discipline in love- for without love, there is nothing. (1 Cor 13:1)

This book has affected my parenting before I even read it, because it influenced the parents I respect and look up to. So when I read it, I was encouraged to be consistent in my discipline and think deeply and reconsider some of my past strategies and revamp.

Child training doesn't come without hardship and sacrifice, but, oh man, is it worth it when you see your child love the truth of God's Word and obey with a good attitude and recite Scripture!

Amazing book. Wishbid read it when i was pregnant with my first kid and every year since then. Every parent should read this ans use it as scripture in their lives to change the dace if the generations to come.

So good! Highly recommend. The best way to see your kids so you can raise them up in the way the Lord has commanded us to. I have a lot of changes to make in my parenting and this book will serve as the backbone of those positive adjustments.

It was good, a little too heavy handed on discipline in the authoritative sense. But it was a good read and helped me to be more mindful of the importance among discipline in children from a young age. It did come from a Christian perspective, but there were times I felt he was taking scripture out of context.

Helpful but did not go far enough in motivation.
I don’t want to suppress my child’s innate desire for happiness and self fulfillment - I want to redirect it to God. It may not matter in the younger years but it matters in how we think long term.
