About the author

Polish professor of philosophy of Polish Academy of Science. Born in Warsaw she studied philosophy at Stefan Batory University in Vilnus. She was a courier in Home Army and in 1944 arrested by Russians and sentenced for 11 years of labour camp. After leaving it she got an order to live in kolkoz. She came back to Poland in 1955 and two years later graduated from Warsaw's University, where she also made a Doctor's degree. In 1988 she gained title of rofessor of Humanistic Arts. In 1995 she got the Order of the White Eagle, chancellor of the commitee of the Order in years 2001 - 2005. In October 2005 she resigned to protest against president elect Lech Kaczyński, who discredited decisions of Alexander Kwaśniewski to decorate some of people (fair for People's Republic of Poland).
