I gave book 1 5 stars. It was good enough to get me to buy the other 2 without even reading the blurbs. But what slightly irritated me about book 1 (the dragging out of a love story to THREE novels) really irritated me about book 2.

Let me count the ways:

1) Don't like the cover. BAD cover! Not at all what Lucian, the freakin dragon prince and most powerful of the triplet should look like! Covers 1 and 3 are so much better. It's like this is a diff model, or just a bad side of his face. (and yet the cover is appropriate for all the weak blubbering, wishy washiness of a supposedly alpha male Hero. Weak chin. Not a good profile view of this model, if indeed it's the same model as book 1 and 3.)

2) Lots more sex, but not much else. And don't get me started on the almost cheating thing! And he kinda DID! He had his hands in another woman's hooha, made her come (or almost) and she grabbed herself a handful of him. NOT COOL!! Even though he had a "good" reason, I just wrote him off as wishy washy. which leads me to--

3) WTF with the running away and trying to kill himself and going to his tomb and trying to die by vampire bite while he's got a hard-on in his pants???!!! Ehhhhhhh???? And the brother trying to "test" his girl... I mean, it was too much. Made Lucian a pussy instead of a badass. And this author seems to LOVE having the MCs get turned on by other people but "resisting temptation." I don't like it. Don't like it at all!

4) these novels are SHORT almost like a novella. Priced OK but still. The next ones for the w other dragon bros are more expensive. Not sure i’d Pay for them... mad! Really doesn’t have to be drawn out to 3 books! Could have been compressed into 1 long one ala JR Ward!

OK, just took to 2 stars. The more I write the more I'm pissed off.

I don't care what a guy's reason is -- if he's going to try to screw other women so he can "save me" I'm just gonna let him talk to the hand. And that's what I was hoping the h would do. But she just sat there and waited for him to come back. And SHE was supposed to be a badass too!

No. Just no.

The Sealing!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☹️🙃😍
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Lucian - he was a dragon shifter crown prince from the house of Smoke who protects humans. His line of dragons have a treaty with the fae, requiring him to produce an heir. If he doesn’t then the fae will be able to enter the human realm whenever they please. He fell in love once before and both his mate and his youngling died. He was resolved never to fall in love again.

The heroine: Arabella - she was saved in a dark alley by a handsome golden dragon. She fell for him and found out he has been telling him lies since the start. So she planned to leave and go back to her job as a lawyer, defending poor women from their abusers and helping those who need her, but she couldn’t do it.

The Story: Something is happening in Seattle, first demons were found in the city and now vampires, who are not supposed to be around humans in a centuries long agreement. Lucien is using his sweeps of the city as a reason to stay away from his keep, and Arabella.

This book wasn’t as good as the first and I got a bit bored at times, though it was fairly short so I did finish it. I liked the characters and this one had some great supporting characters like Arabella’s friend Rachel and Lucien’s friend Kinney, in addition to his two brothers. I guess I just had an issue of the whole plot of this book being Arabella fighting to get Lucien to get over his past and be with her.

This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration, and was narrated by Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell. I really like both of these narrators. They both have emotive and pleasant voices. Joe has a masculine, sexy voice and Maxine has this way of portraying anxiety or fear with a sort of shaky sounding voice which sounds so realistic.

2 3/4 "All for Arabella" Stars!

Lucien was and idiot!!!!!! He got on my nerves! Arabella was definitely the mentally stronger of the two MC in this one. But I have to know how the story ends. Because beside from Lucien being a complete idiot, it was a good story. This will teach me to just jump into books without knowing anything. I got the first book free and didn't know it was just part one and that there would be cliffhangers. Anyway, I'm going on to book three and this BETTER give me some kind of conclusion... There are actually 10 books in this series, but I think the others are about Lucien's brothers. If you are so inclined, you should read these in order.

Happy reading 😕

Second book of this series and I lost my interest. The H just kept running away from the h (usually what h's do) and it was a little too much for me. The first book was much better.

This is the second story in this engaging, hot and fiery, paranormal fairytale romance. In it the heir to the House of Smoke dragon throne is Lucian and he’s dying. To stay alive and fulfil the terms of the treaty which keeps humans safe from the Immortal Dark Fae he needs to find his mate and have a dragonling with her. He actually met and rescued her, Arabella Sharp, in Book One of the series, Kiss of a Dragon, but he is determine to resist the temptation to make her his because he loves her and knows that having his young may well kill her. He couldn’t live with knowing he’d caused her death…..but not doing so will mean he will become a wyvern and die. Can love find a way? You’ll have to read it yourself to find out!

This is a fast paced, action packed sequel with brilliant interactions between the lead characters - and between Cinead (Arabella’s dragon shifter bodyguard) and Rachel, Arabella’s best friend and co-worker. The story is tense, full of surprises and suspense all the way to the climactic ending. In the first story readers were introduced to key fae, demons and angels as well as dragon shifters and in this novel vampires are involved - I can’t wait to read what happens next! This is an enthralling paranormal series that keeps readers on tenterhooks and one I highly recommend to lovers of this genre.

Alisa Woods’ HEART OF A DRAGON starts after book one, KISS OF A DRAGON, left off. Dragon shifter Lucian Smoke is fighting his urge to claim Arabella Sharp as his mate for fear of losing her. However, if he doesn’t claim a mate soon and have a dragonling, he will be overcome by the wyvern. This contemporary PNR takes place in Washington State and is suitable for adult audiences.

I like Lucian. He has a good heart. He is afraid to put Arabella in danger because he loves her. I was disappointed with some of his actions in this story, but it is understandable what drives him. I love that so many people care about him and fight for him and Arabella. Arabella is smart, strong, and determined. I love that she does not give up on Lucian.

I like blue dragon, Cinaed. He is a loyal friend to Lucian. He makes a good guard for Arabella. I love his interactions with Arabella’s best friend, Rachel. Those two are pretty humorous.

The plot continues to be exciting and well-thought-out. We discover the history and details of the treaty between the Fae and House of Smoke. Zephan emerges in the story again. He is not a nice Fae. He is a ruthless foe to Lucian. Some of the things he has done are unforgivable. I like how this story ended, and I look forward to book three FIRE OF A DRAGON.

Booo my good luck streak ends at 1 book. The writing was still good and the plot interesting but the characters and therefore romance crashed and burned for me in this one. Namely Lucian gets a stick up his butt about not being a true mate to Arabella because he doesnt want to risk her death. That I get but thinking cheating was an acceptable alternative was not ok with me. He sticks his hands down another woman's pants, fondles her, then runs straight back to h because he "loves"ecause her too much to go through with it. *gags* info not given: did he even wash his hands of her lady juices before going home to sex up h? After that it was all downhill for me...i skimmed the sex scenes because they felt fake with all the lovey dovey speak...also there was too much shoving of her face into the bed. The author did answer a couple unresolved questions from the last book but introduced an unnecessary new magical being. the ending was 3/4 happy for now and 1/4 cliffhanger but due to what i considered the cheating scenes i have no urge to read the next book which is a shame because i was really hoping to get a good book roll going

Didn’t do the first book any favors...

The ridiculousness continues with Lucien and Arabella and the utterly stupid reason they aren’t mating. For someone as long-lived as Lucien, this story is so far-fetched it insults the reader’s intelligence to read about his juvenile behavior. Doom the world or doom the woman? As a supposed leader there really should be no question and it definitely shouldn’t take 243 pages to make a decision. Mercifully one last book to go in this torrid tale.

On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2 stars.

Well this book sucked! Ruined the first book and the story. Made the heroine a doormat. Hero was a total douche trying out other women (going pretty far if not actual sex) to try to forget Arabella. Absoletly HATED this book!!!!

Heart Of A dragon is Not as good as Kiss of a Dragon bk.1 in the Fallen Immortals series.

I would call this part 2 of a 3 part story. The story opens with Lucian walking or flying away from Arabella after she declares her undying love for him. She lets him know she wants him to seal her with his mating bond so she can carry his dragonling baby!! Yeah!! Yeah!! I know its sounds out there but the stories are pretty good if you like Fantasy Romance. Now its Lucian's turn to run away from the relationship because his first mate Cara died a horrible death trying to give birth to his dragonling baby. Lucian loves Arabella too much to let her try and mate with him. He feels he couldn't bare it if she died. So he does every stupid thing you can think of like seeking out other women, which he couldn't have sex with in the end. But this was real stupid. All women remind him of his love of Arabella. Lucian is constantly trying to sabotage there relationship.

What I didn't like was the beginning with the Introduction of the Vampires and making them so weak and lowly type of creatures. I love Vampires in a good romance. So this didn't work for me. The other thing I didn't like was Lucian is constantly getting his butt kicked by Zephan the Fae Prince. The Fae seem to be the superior, however, Evil Immortals in this series. I like it when the Evil Villain of the story is the weaker opponent and get there butt kicked and good set down. Zephan is always the winner in any battle he smarter and quicker with his magic and stronger then Lucian even though Lucian is part fae and part dragon. This just made me angry. I want to say to the author Alisa Woods you always make the hero of your story the stronger one and he does all the butt kicking. Not so in this case. Which is why I am giving Heart of a Dragon 3 Stars instead of 4 stars.

Part 3 or bk.3 Fire of a Dragon is up next. Lets hope the baby dragoling makes it into the world.

Although I enjoyed the continuation of Lucian and Arabella's story, this one didn't quite live up to the first installment. I am, however, fully invested in these characters and the outcome, so I'll be listening to the rest of the series. Arden and Mitchell continue to be a favorite narrating duo for me.

***
Heart of a Dragon picks up where Kiss of a Dragon left off. Lucian and Arabella both being stubborn but to opposite ends.

I have to say that I admired Arabella's tenacity. She's made her decision with regards to Lucian and she's determined to get her way. She's fierce in her feelings for him and undeterred, no matter the obstacles thrown at her - by Lucian or those intent on keeping them apart.

Lucian, on the other hand...his actions honestly left a bad taste in my mouth. While on the one hand I understood where he was coming from, on the other I felt his actions were selfish and cowardly. Not the decisions made by one who would be a leader nor those of one on whose shoulders so much rested.

There were some revelations in this installment but not enough to fully understand the bigger picture. And although some things are resolved between Lucian and Arabella, not everything was and it was a bit frustrating. However, I'm invested in the characters and the outcome so I will see their story through.

Arden and Mitchell were excellent. They continue to keep the narration exciting and the pacing just right.

I WANT LUCIAN!!!

Alisa Woods is a gifted writer and she rocked her second book in her Fallen Immortals Series, “Heart of a Dragon.” This book is full of Dark Faeries, Dark Dragons, kidnapping, demons, and SEXXXX! Lucian is the Dragon Prince of the House of Smoke and he is dying. If he doesn’t spawn a dragonling soon he will turn into a Wyvern and will have to be put down because it will mean the end of his human half. It is hard for a human female to survive the sealing and carry a dragonling, and Lucian cannot have another death on his on his hands. He has fallen in love with Arabella and trying to keep her alive he pushes her away at every opportunity. Arabella be who she is, keeps trying to heal Lucian and show him that she loves him Truly! Lucian has his hands full trying to keep her alive and away from those who want him dead. Will Lucian overcome his fear of losing Arabella and give her a chance? Will Arabella stay with Lucian? A must read with lots of panty melting sex!

No Spoilers. ARC free book given in exchange for an honest review.

I feel I prefer Kiss of a Dragon simply because more happens within it. Lucian and Arabella’s relationship kind of stalls in its sequel. Whenever they’re together, they’re literally just having sex. That is literally all they do. Outside of that, Lucian busies himself by running away and acting the martyr. I don’t even think they have dinner together. Arabella does more ‘couple’ stuff with Lucian’s brother, Leonidas, than she does with him. Their relationship seems completely built upon a foundation of steamy, passionate sex and while sex is great and everything, there’s so much more to a relationship.

Does True Love Conquer All?

Ms. Woods refers to her series as a “paranormal fairytale romance” and I believe that fairytale and romance are indeed good keywords. Like all good fairytales there is a smoking hot prince, (in fact quite a few princes) in search of his princess. Of course , his princess does not seem to be a princess at first, just an ordinary human female trying to stay alive in the city of Seattle. Also like most fairytales there is magic, a quest to save the world, fairies good and bad and to make things interesting, dragons , angels and demons too. As far as romance goes, the underlying theme of the books is whether or not True Love exists and can love really conquer all. Also be warned, this fairytale is definitely not meant for children’s bedtime, as it has numerous steamy sex scenes as only love between dragons and humans can be!
Book 1 Kiss of a Dragon, Alisa Woods introduces the hero, Lucian Smoke, Crown Dragon Prince of the House of Smoke. Hard to belief that anyone so hot could be already 500 years old, but Prince Lucian is close to dying, unless he meets his “True Love” and begets a dragonling. To make matters more pressing, if he fails in this quest, a very old treaty that protects humanity from the immortal world of the dark Fae will expire and mortals may fall prey to demons. However, a dragon’s mate rarely survives the birth of a young dragon and Lucian refuses to be responsible for the death of another woman. He rescues Arabella from a demon roaming the streets of Seattle and decides to try to seduce her , without losing his heart, before he turns into a beast and the treaty is broken forever. I bet you don’t need a crystal ball, to know how well that works out!
Lucian and Arabella’s adventure continue in book 2 Heart of a Dragon. It is here that Alisa Woods, explores the idea of what is “True Love” and if you can truly love a person, warts and all, without ever doubting that love is real. Lucian and Arabella are forever being tested and it does seem like they are the proverbial star-crossed lovers. But again, if love is true then doesn’t it always conquer every obstacle thrown at it?

I love that Alisa Woods has such believable characters. Yes, the hero is dragon-fire hot , a billionaire and a prince. Yet, he is also broken, with flaws and tendency to let his heart and soul get in the way of his good judgement. And the heroine, is not some damsel in distress just waiting for a prince to sweep in and make life beautiful. Arabella is a complete person with strength in character and able to take care of herself in many situations. Yet together, like any good romance reader will tell you, love between soulmates, has a magic that always makes the couple stronger together then they are apart.

Each book ends with a cliffhanger, sometimes literally. But don’t fear like all good fairytales there is happily ever after waiting at the end.

I want to like this series (and wanted to like this book), but several elements of Heart of a Dragon really turned me off.

1) Lucian's attempts to ignore/destroy his love for Arabella went deep into Deal-Breaker territory, including making out with and grinding on another woman as well as allowing a nest of vampires to slowly drain him while he's naked and writhing with a huge (magic-induced) hard-on.

2) Despite copious, glaringly obvious evidence throughout the book, it's not until the climax that Arabella realizes that the fae prince Zephan is trying to break her and Lucian up. There's literally a part that reads, "...suddenly, she could see it—that was the core of all this. [Zephan] wanted to pull [Arabella] away from Lucian." I can think of no other reason for those sentences to be there. (Also, italics were overused.)

3) I hated Arabella's friend Rachel. She was more caricature than character. I don't mind cussing or orneriness or straight lady characters being into no-strings sex, but Rachel was constantly dialed up to 11. The worst part is, when Rachel disagrees with Arabella's decision to be with Lucian, her concerns are all valid! But from the way she speaks to Arabella, you'd think that she has zero experience talking people down, and isn't she supposed to be Arabella's only partner in her law practice helping abused women?

Lastly, I want to speak to the series overall. Now, the product pages for the individual books don't categorize these books (or their boxed sets) into the Romance genre, but a lot of Goodreads users have them shelved as Romance, and the author's bio uses the words "paranormal romance" more than once. It's no wonder, then, that one can find 1-star reviews on the first book in the series, which definitely doesn't end on an HEA (happily ever after) or HFN (happy for now), which is pretty much the only thing a Romance is required to have. The second book isn't as bad about this, but whether Arabella survives her supernatural pregnancy is still very much up in the air at the end, which leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

All that to say I think this trilogy should've been heavily reworked into a single, standalone book (emphasis on reworked). But then, three books with iffy Romance qualifications might net more sales than a single book that checks the HEA box. 😒

This is the second in the series, I had the opportunity to read it for free so I wanted to continue the series.
It definitely did not grab me like the first book but it was OK and still an enjoyable read.
I think having one longer book than three shorter books in the series would have worked better, but that is just my preference when it is about the same couple.
Small things bothered me and I do say small. For example Arabella called Lucian thoughtless for not leaving her clothes after their night together and he flew off to the tomb. The poor man is dealing with a lot of pressure and a lot of emotional pain. Arabella is a grown woman who is quite capable of getting clothes from her own apartment if needed.
I would have been more concerned if it was unusual for him, not call him that. She did eventually worry about him, it was just the word thoughtless I did not like considering what he was going through.
I did not like him being called a coward as well for trying to entomb himself. Leksander and Leonidas should not judge, they don't have that pressure nor the immediate panic of their wyvern making an appearance. He did what he thought necessary.

What I did like was Lucian. He was desperate and did weird and wonderful things like giving
himself to the vampires to protect Arabella. That made him brave, knowing he was a danger and was planning to entomb himself to protect everyone.
I also love the fact he was planning to doom the world. He loved Arabella that much he was willing to doom everyone else so that he didn't let her suffer. I find that quite romantic as most heroes put duty first.
I absolutely adore Cinead. I don't know why but I do and I hope he has his own book.
Overall it was a quick read, it flowed well and I intend to read the last of Lucian and Arabella's story soon.

While this wasn’t nearly as good as the first book, I still enjoyed it. It was very tortured and frustrating, for sure. I noticed quite a few typos within the book as well that should have been caught in the editing stage of things. It was very hot, very sexy, and not as introspective, though we do learn more things on the backstory of the tragic event in Lucian’s life. I liked it, but it wasn’t mind blowing.

I also could tell the staging of the series by the end of this book. The first one is the story of how they fell in love. The second one is about him accepting that he is in love with her and mating with her. The third book is going to be about another stage in their relationship that I am not going to spoil for you. I could plot this story out myself. It’s very linear, which is interesting to me as a storyteller. It was just something I noticed. The ordering of the events almost could be called formulaic.

However, there were still a lot of things I really liked about this book. I loved how we got to see some of the minor characters from the previous book really shine in this one, like Rachael and Cinaed. These characters ended up really showcasing their own inner strengths as they did end up becoming Arabella's confidantes since a certain someone was being a little baby and avoiding her. I also really loved how we got to see the kind of backbone Arabella has in this book. She is so resilient and she never gives up on those she cares about, and that was so apparent in this book, which was really awesome to see as well, and I think she really shined in this second book.

But overall, I still really enjoyed it, it was a really quick read, and I am excited to continue on with the series!

Spoilers in this review for books 1 and 2!

The moment I have been waiting for has come. Arabella has her hands full with Lucian, but she's a good mate for the broken--still sexy--dragon. Their journey hasn't ended yet, and Arabella really has her work cut out for her with this dragon who would die and put the whole world in danger rather than endanger her life by mating with her and putting a dragonling inside of her like she wants. Stubborn man indeed. How can he say no to that? He's a bit frustrating at times, but I love him anyway and so does Arabella.

Despite some frustrations with Lucian in this book, I enjoyed the ride. Slowly, that stubborn dragon prince is coming around. His heart was broken in the past. Now he has to learn to let Arabella help him heal it. The ending to this book puts us on track for that happy ending I'm waiting for since Lucian finally accepts that Arabella isn't going anywhere and agrees to mate with her. Let me tell you, that sex scene, when Lucian sealed Arabella at the end of the book, was beautiful. That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about! It showed Lucian's pain and complete devotion for Arabella. Loved it. The next book will deal with the very short-term dragon pregnancy and the conclusion to Arabella and Lucian's story.

Any dragon lover should read this series. It's a good time!

Kylo Ren meets Dog the bounty hunter...for romance?

Much like the first book in this series, the pacing was good, the action was fun, and the romance was hot. Unlike the first book, the main female lead showed her "Dog the bounty hunter" side and the main male lead went a bit Kylo Ren on us. I mean, I suppose it was nice to watch the woman pursue for a whilr...but seriously, the moody brooding really killed the mood.

In addition, can we stop the trend of romantic movies and books taking successful career women and making them give it up just to be married? I mean, there is more to life than good sex and love. Clearly she was fulfilled by her job. And it is hard to imagine someone going through 7 years of higher education, a horrific 2 day exam which takes months to study for, and the fright of both being a solo practitioner AND paying back student loans to just give it all up for love.

So yeah, except for the brooding, awkward pursuits, and clear flippancy towards the legal profession and professional women in general, the book was good.

Lucian is the Dragon Prince of the House of Smoke and needs to spawn a dragonling to uphold an age-old treaty and extend his own life. However, he is still in the dilemma of loving Arabella and yet not being able to be the cause of her death. Can he find another woman to love him and have his child or is he doomed to die and break the treaty?

This was an extension of the first book in the series and sees it continue the story of Lucian and Arabella. I loved the way that the whole family became involved and how they all managed to get him to see sense. However, I was irritated that this story is being continued into yet another book. Yes, I want to know how it finishes but I am not prepared to buy the third book to find out how it all ends - not when many other authors/series cover this in just the one book. So yes it was well written, but I was irritated with the self-pity and the attitude that Lucian had. In the end, I almost felt like shouting in frustration. Contains explicit sexual content.
