If you are looking for intermediate level stories in Italian, these are a possibility. Unfortunately some of them also appear in the equivalent book in Spanish, which I've already read. Some are good, some a little boring. Some are complete, some end a little abruptly.
I wish there were audio available with them. I think there may be, but you have to buy it separately as an audio book.
Nevertheless I got in practice reading Italian, and that is a good way to start learning a language. You pick up vocabulary, and the stories all contain conversations, so you get a feel for how Italian is spoken. They mostly use the more formal past tense, which I hadn't actally met in my lessons, so that was a good way to familiarize myself with it.

Useful intermediate level short stories that I found really helped with my Italian. The format is good and the notes at the start are well judged as they advise against looking anything up and to just try and make sense of the text as best one can. There are multiple choices questions at the end. Fairly simple stuff so pitched at the right level although the preponderance of object pronouns often left me puzzled as to who was addressing whom in the dialogue heavy interactions. The stories themselves are fine but not especially gripping - too much fantasy for my liking. Dracula makes an appearance and there's also a bit of sci-fi.

Useful!

Had fun with this. I liked the recurring vocabulary - very helpful in increasing my fluency without long lists to memorize. Some of the stories were creepy but in a good way. Would def recommend to someone with basic italian but who needs practice

My favorite Italian language training read. I throughly enjoyed these short stories, as they were designed with a fast pace to motivate the reader through each story and a lightness to them that balanced out the challenge of language learning. They greatly increased my confidence in written and spoken Italian. I would love to have more in this series.
