EN Joy, the Queen of Christian Soap Opera in Print and Nikitta Lynette Nichols, the Queen of Ratchet Christian Fiction team up to bring you this explosive, funny and heartwarming book. This book is a combination of 3 separate e books that have been combined together for the print form. Wedding Coordinator Angel Redford goes to church to find a husband, ends up not only finding Jesus, but a husband in Pastor Isaiah Harrison. Now the newly saved first lady of Savin Manger Baptist Church as an instant enemy in Mother Calloway, the Pastor’s secretary and Thorn in Angels life. Angel eventually goes to a first Lady’s conference where she is mesmerized by the speaker, Lady Arykah Howell (From Nikitta’s A Woman’s Worth and Lady Elect Series) from Freedom Temple COGIC in Chicago, IL. The two first ladies keep in touch, and after being led by the Spirit, Arykah makes an impromptu trip to Ohio, where Lady Angel lives and has a lot to learn about walking in her role as a Pastor’s wife.
After the conference, the two first ladies keep in touch, and Lady Arykah, after prompting from God, takes a trip to Ohio to help Lady Angel. Not only does Lady Arykah help Angel with her problem, The pair take a trip to California to help Lady McKinzie , who has another issue all together different that needs help. One thing I absolutely love about Lady Arykah, is she is not your typical pastor’s wife. She doesn’t fit into the one size fits all model, nor does she pull any punches when she’s talking to some. She is a straight shooter, and that’s what makes her such a lovable character. I can’t wait to see what these two amazing authors team up with next.
This was absolutely this most soul stirring book I have read. It totally ministered to my soul. The character is this book was well developed, and definitely had a voice of there own.
I think all churches has a Mother Calloway in some form or another that is going around trying to discourage others . This book took me through all the emotions that I once felt when I was on my newly walk with Christ. So I could totally relate to the story that was being told.
I had the pleasure to read Nikita L. Nichols book "Lady Elect." As I opened the first pages of this read, 'my oh my' how it reads off with a similar storyline with the unchurched-hot-sleazy dressing woman (Angel) who happens to marry the pastor, where the Mother of the Church cannot stand this woman by doing everything in her power to voice her opinion of "First Lady" Angel Redford-Harrison. (Therefore, I will see how long it'll take me to read this one since "Lady Elect" via eBook didn't get interesting until about 72% in the read, and ended a bit abruptly for me, and unsure how I felt about the horrified event that occurred to First Lady Arykah...where I might have to read the next book one day in the series>)
I love Lady Arykah she is Straight No Chaser . I wanted to slap Mother Calloway s few times . This book had me laughing & the messages preached hit home . If you can’t say Amen say OUCH !!! She’s no Angel & she don’t have to be, because GOD called her regardless . We often try to live up to other people expectations & doubt that GOD can use us . Praise is what I do but I can Knuck if you buck too !!! Don’t let people run over you , I’m saved but I’m not Soft !!!
This book was so hilarious to me. Lady Arykah was no joke! I enjoyed all the advice she offered to the first ladies. I was glad Angel finally got a backbone. I would recommend First Ladies who can appreciate humor to read this novel, it was a really enjoyable read. No much character development but a fun read!
I read this book when it was three small books so I decided to listen on Audio to prepare for book Club Discussion. First Lady A’s ain’t no joke. Mother Calloway ought to be ashamed of herself. It was even better listening to it.
This book genuinely surprised me. When I first started reading it and discovered this was a religious fiction I had the instant urge to put it down and walk away but I decided to give it a chance because it was lended to me by my boyfriends grandma.
Upon further reading I found myself literally laughing out loud and wanting to cry at certain points.
It felt amazing to read a book and feel understood yourself as a woman. I really loved how the book enlightened women on how men feel and how they express their feelings or need the attention of the woman just as much as the woman needs from the man.
This book taught me a lot and Arykah the First Lady was the best character in my opinion. She’s that friend that everybody wants in their life that is gonna keep it straight to you and always be there.
I aspire to have as much faith in God as these women do!
This was entertaining and a bit over the top at times…. I don’t ever have to hear the phrase “First Lady” every again 🤣🤣
This was a churchy drama that honestly felt like 2 books. It was my first time reading an author duo type book. Not sure that I love that because it honestly felt like it could have been separated into 2 books.
The characters were funny and the dialogue was very entertaining. That Lady Erica was A LOT at times but I’d love a whole book on her and how she met her husband. Additionally, I think this would have been good as a series too.
Good Read!! Love the way Lady Angel stood up to Morher Calloway something she should have done a long time ago but if it wasn't for Lady Arykah she wouldnt have done it. Lady Arykah my be a woman of God but she gave it you are no filter. The way she handled Lady McKenzie I thought hats was going to start flying but she was speaking the truth Lady McKenziejust couldn't handle the truth. Overall a good read.
I really liked this book, it touched me in a Godly way. Lady Angel gave me a sense of joy and holy boldness and so did Lady Arykah with her over the top self. This book was current, up to date, relatable, and sometimes controversial. I simply can't wait for part 2 and I know it'll be a thriller too. If you haven't read Lady Elect, you better get into it. By the way, I myself need to head on over and pick up Lady Elect part 2.
This book was a pretty good read. It piqued my interest from the beginning. Angel was a newly wed and a new first lady. One of the church mothers, Mother Callaway, made it her mission to make Angel miserable. This made Angel seek the help of a speaker from a conference she attended and fellow first lady Erykah. The book was very engaging however it seem as if it started to drag on during the trip to California. It was then that I just wanted the book to end, which is why I gave it 3 stars.
She’s No Angel was a great read. First Lady Angela unfortunately has to go though so much with Mother Calloway. However is good thing she’s meet Lady Arykah who keeps it real and tell people like it is. I never knew First Ladies had to deal with so much. There was one saying in the book I truly loved Let Go and Let God it reminds me of one of my favorite songs. Looking forward to next book.
I finished the book in one sitting. It was a page turner. I’m so glad Lady Angel connected with Lady Arykah! Smh at Mother Calloway. I enjoyed the storyline.
I really enjoyed reading this book because it was very enjoyable. Not being a First Lady made me appreciate having them and understanding what my life could have been like had I married a friend of mine. You have to get out of your own way in order to help others.
Audiobook-Close to 2.5 stars This book began very interesting and entertaining. After the first part of the book (with angel and the mother of the church), the book began to fall into an unnecessary storyline. The trip to California plot felt so forced and irrelevant. There were a few good lessons and interesting characters, but My interest fell very quickly after the first issue was resolved.
Oh my --- what a great book! It made me display various emotions: anger, laughter, joy, sadness, etc. That's some good writing! In addition, this book gave me an insight into the politics of the church. I plan on reading "Lady Elect" and "Lady Elect II" by Nikita Lynnette Nichols to find out more about Lady Arykah's character.
Loved, loved, loved this book. It took me less than 24 hours to read because I was hooked from the jump. If you are a fan of Christian fiction with a dash of humor, church drama, spiritual warfare, and just plain old real life issues you will definitely like this book. First Lady Angel is new to the church and church dynamics and all that comes with being the first lady so when she ecounters one of the "old-school" church mothers who is giving her nothing but grief, she has no choice but to reach out for help. Thankfully for her she has met Lady Arykah at a First Lady conference and has found someone who feel her pain. Lady Arykah, not long a first lady herself, but a Godly woman who in her own words "God ain't finshed with me yet" and "I still need work" comes in to help Lady Angel and other women in the process.
What I really liked about Lady Arykah was that, although she was a little hood, she was still Woman of God. Trying to do the right thing by Him and the women she helped. One of my favorite things she said was "Lord write on my tongue. In other words Lord you give me what needs to be said to these women. And what can we say about old Mother Calloway except she was sumthing else, but unfortunately she was the truth also.
I'll end by saying this although this is fiction, it gave me a lot of things to think about. I the first 2 days after reading, I've already discussed different points with 3 people. Let"s just say pick up a copy and read for yourself. I can almost promise you'll E.N.Joy it.
Edit:Update After some growth and maturity in my walk I found that I just didn't love the book like I had the previous times. The misquoting of scripture "try the spirit by the spirit" bothered me the most. I still really enjoyed this book and would definitely be on board to read and update on Ladies Angel & Arykah.
I really enjoyed this read, it just touched me. I am not a first lady but have dealt with people in the church who have presented as friends but were anything but. In the end they want something and will even use God to get it. I love that Angel always wanted to do the right thing and really wanted to be the best first lady. Her husband was so clueless as most men are. I also don't understand how Carmen came in and saw Angel back against her desk with mother Calloway standing over her and she couldn't tell who was yelling at who? Really? I want to know what Mother Calloways story and real issue are. Looking for part 2.
Angel is a lot of women today. She was looking for a husband but found more. Some of us would say she was in the right place at the right time. Others would say she was looking for an opportunity. I am of the belief she was in the right place for her spirit to be ministered to. She has one plan in mind but God has another plan.
Always when God has a plan, there is someone waiting to send his plan a different way. God states not so. He equips us and Angel wasn't any different. God equips her to deal with opposition.
I give four stars for content. I can relate to the material and that is a plus. I didn't like that it was so short but nevertheless a great read.
I don't know what to say about this book. It wasn't a bad book but it wasn't great either. It was just a read. The highlight of the book for me was the conference because alot of truth was spoken about relationships whether your are a first lady or not a woman could relate. Im guessing the book is supposed to be about Angel coming into her own as the first lady but you don't really get that because this book is ridiculously short. I just don't see a real story line here but that could be because of thr length of the book. I really wish authors would stop chopping these books up into little pieces and calling them series.
Angel is a babe in Christ, who meets her husband at a wedding. Upon becoming the wife of the Pastor, a long standing member in the church seems to have a problem with her. In her quest to be what "others" seem to think she should be, she goes to a conference. Angel is growing in the word and maturing in the things of God in this story. After she returns, she is faced with those who seem to have only one mission, to destroy her.
I will be reading more in this series. I love the church but I see real life difficulties being addressed in this series. Good read, wanders at times but still a great read.
I think this story was a good beginning to what I think will be a good series. The budding friendship of Angel and Arykah is really going to be fun to watch as these two first ladies show some church folk that they are a force to be reckoned with. It's funny sometime how supposedly "Christian" people can be so cruel, but one thing that they forget is that God is in control and you better leave his people alone. Mother Calloway has it coming.
Very good read! You can't help but sympathize with the newly wed First Lady. While she ties to adjust to life as being a new Christian and also just marrying the pastor she suffers abuse from the old mother of the church who not pleased with the pastor's choice of a new wife. Surprised and happy to see First Lady Arykah from Lady Elect series make an appearance in this book. A must read! Ready to get part 2.
