For once Mark Wallington forsook walking the dog to take to a bicycle, determined to ride from his home in St Albans to Lapland. Unfortunately, he managed to get no further than Newcastle, thus missing his chance to be funny about Hammerfest before Bill Bryson or Michael Palin had got there. Nevertheless, on the way he has some funny adventures and amusing encounters with mildly eccentric people, as in his other books. If you read this book you may miss Boogie, but you will enjoy it all the same.
Not really his best, but plenty of running gags and good gentle humour throughout. Can't believe that this was written the year of Chernobyl disaster and the Andrew and Fergie wedding. On that basis it has aged rather well.
