A fun, well-assembled collection of history and anecdotes about the city I called home for 13 years -- the former capital of California that always seemed just on the cusp of greatness before fortune (in the form of the Gold Rush, the Pony Express and yes, even the U.S. Army's decision to employ camels) shifted in the wind. There's still much more to be written about this remarkable town, but this was a great beginning.
