Hurricane in Paradise

Rate this book
Set against the steamy backdrop of Tarpon Cove's sun-kissed, tropical waters, sexy sleuths and best friends Madison and Fab are at it again dealing with the occasional dead body. Hidden just below the surface of the small town lies an underworld, one steeped in deceit, corruption, and deadly secrets. It's only a matter of time before Madison and Fab find themselves on a collision course with the police, who consider them likely suspects in a murder.

Ride along on their adventures when the duo realizes that a family member is missing and pull themselves away from all jobs to track him down. Theories: walked away, freak accident, kidnapped? If so, then why no ransom demand?

Hurricane in Paradise is book ten in the thrilling and humorous provocative Paradise series, which finds the two waist-deep in mystery and romance. It is a smart, adventurous read that delivers heart-thumping, non-stop action. Join Madison and Fab as they solve the most twisted of cases, through unconventional ¬– and highly entertaining – measures… sometimes in flip-flops.

A hurricane is heading for the Florida Keys!!
Madison Westin, her two cats and her boyfriend
are forced to evacuate.
When Madison and her best friend, Fabiana
Merceau return to Tarpon Cove after the storm,
they discover squatters have taken over their
house with a squatter’s right document. To
get her home back, Madison must take the
squatters to court. When the head squatter
does not appear in court but is found dead,
Madison becomes the number one suspect.
A well created story full of drama, unsettling
mishaps, a great deal of shenanigans along
with two murder mysteries, a kidnapping, a
wild, misbehaving grandmother combine with
an array of colorful, quirky, intriguing characters
for an entertaining adventure.
This is book # 10 in the Florida Keys Mystery
series. It can be read as a stand along as the
author includes enough backstory about the
characters.
So kick off your shoes and hit the beach with
this zany crew.🦶🏼🦶🏼🦶🏼🦶🏼

Book 10! Wow - this series has been a fun ride! Each book can be read as a standalone but getting this far into the series, a little flashback was included to give this book a start. A hurricane has a way of creating chaos all on its own but if you've ready any of the other books in the series, then you know that chaos tends to follow Madison and Fab everywhere. The hurricane displaces the gals only for them to return home to find squatters with a legal lease that leads Madison to fight them in court. It doesn't take long for the winds to begin blowing hard again as she fights her way through murder and crazy new characters. The mixture of crazy characters (who we often see in future books time to time!) and humor have me in stitches. I've never read a series so long that has kept me enthralled in each one so much and looking forward to the next.

I received this book through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.

Hurricane in Paradise by Deborah Brown

What could be better than living in the Florida sunshine and beauty of Naples? Nothing at all, but in Hurricane in Paradise, a set of friends embark on solving a murder mystery with their sexy significant others.

This is book 10 in the Florida Keys Mystery Series. In this one, they have squatters in their ocean front home, they have two murders and a kidnapping. How can a set of friends have so much drama in their day to day lives? It gets much better.

There is a rough grandmother, a man who doesn’t like to wear pants, police officers that are full of themselves and so much more. This book will keep you on your toes and re-reading parts of it if you don’t pay close attention.

Madison (the narrator of the story) and her sexy undercover cop boyfriend (who can never seem to keep control of her) have a love that is deeply rooted. Fab (Madison’s best friend) and her model BF not only live with Madison, but they are both dramatic and fun characters.

IF you like unpredictable story lines, murder plots, suspense and straight out funny characters, this book is for you.

One of the worst hurricanes to hit the Keys in many years--luckily Madison's boyfriend drags her out of her house (along with her 2 cats!) and they get to safety------But after Mother Nature has done her worst--the hurricane really begins! Madison comes back to discover there are squatters in her house who claims to have a lease? Then all kinds of mishaps occur--people found dead--Miss January, well she is still causing all kinds of trouble--and the worst--Madison's lawyers GRANDMOTHER shows up for a vacation. Trust me--she is like no other Grandmother you or I know! THEN--Madison's brother disappears. Madison and Fab have their hands full--and their boyfriends have an even harder time trying to stop them. Just as all seems settled Madison gets a phone call from her Mother. But she tells her off--she wants to be alone with her boyfriend. Well-----Mother's always get their own way--and Madison is in for the surprise of her life!!

"Welcome Home!" That is the feeling I get every time I open up a novel from Deborah Brown. Tarpon Cove, in the Florida Keys, is the setting for Brown's merry band of mischief makers. Madison and Fab seem like an unlikely duo for best friends, but don't let that trick you. Opposites attract and that is a great thing here.

Madison is all about family, and it shows in everything she does. When it is family that is in trouble you can expect that there will be hell to pay! Her brother is missing and a hurricane hits her home. It really destroys nothing substantial, but leaves a band of dirty, rude squatters in her home. You'd think she could walk up and say "Get Out!" and they'd leave--being squatters and all. But poor Madison, she is not that lucky.

Time to break out the big guns...only they misfire...and Madison is stuck with squatters. How'd that happen you ask?

Ms. Brown is such a fun, fast-paced author! This story starts out with a big hurricane and a need to evacuate Madison's beloved house. When Madison and Fab return several surprises await them, none of them good.

Fab and Madison get back to business, but then Madison's brother Brad goes missing, and everything comes to a screeching halt while they look for him.

The search will take them through the backwoods of Florida, the underbelly of the population, and into some terrifying situations. Can they get their family whole again?

I received this book through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.

This book is part of a series, but can definitely be read as a stand alone. However, you must read them all! You'll thank me for the suggestion!

Madison and Fabiana are back and so is a hurricane which starts the book by causing havoc and leaving a decided aftermath for the pair to sort out. All the usual favourites are back, Creole and Didier, Mother and Spoon and the crazy cast of characters at The Cottages. The pace is full on as usual and there are enough escapades (thanks to the roguish Brick) to keep the girls fully occupied. This time though one of their cases is more personal than usual as Brad, Madison's brother goes missing and it's a race to find him. There are laugh out loud moments and the dialogue is punchy. We know these two so well now that I found myself wishing for a new team member to add a little freshness to challenge the girls' friendship. And it would be great to know a little more about Fab's mysterious French background. Fans of the series will love this one and Brown's gift is to create stories which stand equally as well alone as they do as a part of a series.

I was given a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Finally a new adventure of Madison and Fab, two great friends and colleagues with a great ability to solve mysteries but also to get in trouble. Fortunately there are their sexy and skilled boyfriends to save them.
This time they face a hurricane, a relative disappeared into thin and squatters in their home. They obviously will solve another murder but this time should exonerate themselves.
Although it is the tenth book in the series can be read as a standalone, the author is very good at providing the missing information to fully understand the story and the relationships between the characters without weighing the plot.
The story is very well written, with the right amount of suspense, romance and humor. Many dialogues are really sparkling.
Highly recommended

Maddy and Fab survived the hurricane

The best friends, buddies and soul sisters did it again. They survived the hurricane. This is another heart pumping story from the series. Ms. Deborah Brown never stop to amazed me.

Creole, Didier and Spoon try to keep their women on their toes but it will never happened especially when Brad is missing. Maddy will do everything to save her brother's life. She is willing to risk her life.

This book is hard to put it down. It is a long book with non-stop action from these troublemakers. It is wild with so many funny and crazy moments which even makes the story so much fun to read. It is never a dull moments while reading this book.

If you love to read romance with actions and laugh out loud moments, Florida Keys series is a must read.

Deborah Brown is back with Book 10 in the Paradise Series with a Hurricane, and the metaphoric title is apt. The action is fast paced and jolting, but there is always fun and humor with the Florida Keys clan.
Whether you are a fan of the series or a new reader, this is a great humorous mystery, which is one of my favorite kinds. Madison Westin and her partner in crime-solving, Fab Merceau are in for a tumultuous adventure full of danger, and who knows where the wind will blow them; literally. After a hurricane forces evacuation, Madison returns to the house from which her boyfriend had to drag her out of to safety to find squatters – with squatter’s rights! She has to take them to court to get her property back. In the midst of all of that, the main squatter is found dead behind one of her rental properties, and her #1 suspect.
The Paradise series is full of wonderfully rounded characters, and Madison’s lawyer grandmother who shows up for a visit in the midst of this newest mysterious debacle does not disappoint! Of course, her mom and mom’s beau, Jimmy Spoon (yes the name is befitting), plus both detectives steamy dreamy boyfriends are on deck for this caper, and race, to clear Madison’s name.
Brown’s writing is fast paced, and delivers well. I’m always envisioning the action between Fab and Madison and anticipating the next move, delighted by their skill and wit. Unexpected twists and surprise characters keep me on edge and wanting more. Each new edition to the series is a plum.

I've missed reading about Madison and Fab! Their adventures are great! I feel like we're good friends and we picked up where we last left off! I love that these books CAN be read as standalone books, because I do think there might be a couple that I haven't read yet. You know they're good books, because this is book #10 in the series!

I think there wasn't nearly as much action in Hurricane in Paradise BUT that didn't make it any less good. I have enjoyed the crime solving in these books.

I love the characters, story line, humor and the who done it suspense, which I've never figured out before it was announced. I've thought I did, only to be proven wrong!

Read this series of books! You won't be disappointed!

This is my all-time favorite mystery series. I have read all ten books, and they just keep getting better as the series continues. Madison and Fabiana are back at it again, along with the usual cast of supporting characters.

This time around, the main story revolves around a hurricane that causes them to evacuate the Keys---and then they return to find squatters living in their house, claiming they are legally renting it. When one of the squatters is murdered, Madison is the prime suspect. Will the gang be able to solve the murder before she's locked up for life?

As if that weren't enough to deal with, her brother Brad disappears without a trace, and they put all their resources toward tracking him down. This book is action packed from beginning to end, and I'm already anxious to read the NEXT one!

Deborah Brown has delivered another great adventure with Madison, Fab and friends! A hurricane forces them to evacuate and return to problems. Squatters moved in and then the usual dead body and mystery happen. I was pulled in and finished this book as fast as ever. I love adventure and Madison and Fab are the best pair ever! I hope the series never ends.

While I haven't read all of the Paradise books, I have read several and this newest addition, Hurricane in Paradise, does not disappoint in the least.

The book starts with, what else?, a hurricane in the Florida Keys. I've seen damage from hurricanes and can only image that in an island chain, the damage would be more severe. There are several little bumps from the hurricane that I would never have anticipated so found these intriguing.

Madison is solving a mystery of her own this book, as opposed to one from Brick. Her brother goes missing and she knows she has to find him. The ups and downs, twists and turns in the search for him kept me reading without stop. I love a good mystery and there are several in this book but the mystery of what happened to Madison's brother is the overarching one.

You should pick up the book and find out how the brave, not quite yet a private investigator by license manages to find her brother with the help of family and friends.

Oh, how I have missed Madison and Fab! I feel like we left off right where we started and picked up like old friends.

Each of the Paradise Series books can be read as a stand alone, but I am telling you; you do not want to miss a single one! They are funny and mysterious which makes them such an amazing combination. (Not to mention there are two smokin’ hot boys that make it all the more better!)

I did find myself slightly irritated at the start. Because each book can be read as a stand alone, the author threw in some back story or clarification to things that I – the obsessed reader that I am – already knew. I totally understand why she did it; it just bugged me because I knew the info and did not need a refresher. I wanted to get to the good stuff! (Just me being inpatient.)

Hurricane in Paradise was… less “active” than some of the past books, but did not make it any less enjoyable. Of course, there is usually more than one “crime” going on to be solved (my favorite part) and this one didn’t miss that!

Seedy characters, a missing person, and of course; a new “bimbo” at Brick Famosa Motors kepts me on my toes.

I love the characters. I love the humor. I love the mystery aspect (I don’t know that I have ever figured out the “who done it” too soon!)

I highly recommend the Paradise Series. You won’t be disappointed. (And I hope they keep coming!)

When a hurricane forces Madison to evacuate, she does it reluctantly. A couple of days later she returns, only to find a group of professional squatters have moved in. Since the leader of the group seems to have a legal notarized contract, the only thing Madison can do is take him to court. Even though the guy doesn’t show up for court, Madison still has to wait for approval to move back in. In the meantime, the guy is discovered behind the property, murdered. Which leaves Madison as suspect #1.

My BFF’s are back, with the usual oddball misfits tagging along. This time, there was more dead bodies, more hijinks, and even more comical hookups than in the past. It was non-stop hilarity throughout, and had me wondering what outrageous event would happen next. This has been my favorite series from the beginning, and it just keeps getting better and better. If you’re not reading this series, you truly don’t know what you are missing.

Poor Madison and Fab! This is my first encounter with them and the start of the story doesn't bode well at all for them at all. A hurricane is approaching and Madison is being evacuated by her boyfriend Creole, and when its all over and they return home they are met with legal squatters in the house! A guy with a notarised tenancy agreement to be there of all things! To say Madison is mad is an understatement and Fab, well she just wants to shoot everyone. She is forced to live with her Mother whilst they take him to court, only he doesn't appear and is found dead behind Madison's house - and she is prime suspect!!

Not only has she got to deal with a murder, her brother goes missing and she has to entertain her lawyers crazy grandmother - Madison and Fab seem to be quite apt at getting themselves into some pretty hilarious situations, which makes this a light fun read with all the seriousness that is also going on in the background. There is a whole host of cray and eccentric characters in this book that I would love to know better - so definitely reading the previous books are a must for me.

It seems that there is never a dull moment for Madison and Fab and somehow I don't see that changing any time soon

This is the first book I have read in the series and although it is book 10 and many say it can be read as a stand alone I did still feel lost a few times, there were little tid-bits from the author back explaining but I really feel that I need to start at the beginning to get a better feel for all the eclectic characters in this series- I already have books 1 & 2 on my kindle ready to read.

I have read most of the Paradise books and I always look forward to reading the next one. They are full of action, humor, suspense, and mystery but are also quick, fun reads.

Madison Westin and her best friend, Fabiana, are always getting into trouble. Their boyfriends, Creole and Didier, seem to have finally come to terms with the fact that they're going to do what they want and rather than trying to keep them from walking into dangerous situations, they've made them promise to always stay together. They also went with Madison and Fabiana a couple times rather than complaining about them going.

I don't usually care much for the lovey dovey stuff in books but these girls and their gorgeous boyfriends make it fun. Even when they're upset with each other, they know how to work it out and make up.

There's nonstop action in Hurricane in Paradise. Madison has to deal with losing her home temporarily, the disappearance of her brother, and there's always the goings on at the Cottages. She never knows what's going to happen there!

I love Deborah Brown's writing. It flows well and there's always humor. I definitely recommend Hurricane in Paradise as well as all of the other Paradise books.

When I was notified about this tour, I had a lot of extremely strong feelings. Ones of excitement because "Yay! Another Madison book!". Ones of comfortability because "This is fantastic news! These characters are like old friends I haven't seen in a while." And ones of sadness because "my "friends" are leaving me because this is said to be the last installment and I don't want it to end!"

Sometimes when movies and television series's are ending they basically screw things up and drop the ball. Think about your favorite long time series. Are you thinking of it? Ok now, let me know if you feel like you were happy with the last season? The last movie in the trilogy? Nope. Nope. Nope. Let me tell you I am still mad about Friends and Sex in the City. But I digress.

Deborah Brown has taken the finale of an amazing series and hit it right out of the park, Babe Ruth style! She gave us our favorite gal-pal team and made us remember what we missed since the last book and what we will look for and miss in every book we pick up from now on.

The story starts with a hurricane, squatters, and of course the dead body. In true Brown style, you can read this book as a stand-alone and the first introduction to this series or author but like always, I definitely hope you pick them up and start from the beginning and get to know these characters like I and so many have in the past. It's not your normal mystery because of the hilarious humor. Kinda like a Stephanie Plum meets Law and Order all set in a Florida beach community.

I highly recommend these books and I can't wait to see what Ms. Brown has in store for her fans in the future!

Author Deborah Brown is back with another wild tale of the exploits of Madison and Fabiana. The story opens with a bang, as Mad is forced to flee her home due to an impending hurricane. Once it's safe to return, she finds squatters living in her beloved beachfront home, which she inherited from her aunt. Forced to battle them in court to get her own house back, Madison prevails when the chief squatter doesn't show at the hearing. But the victory is short lived when his body is discovered, and Madison is a suspect!

Over at The Cottages, Miss January is in failing health, and 2 more bodies show up in unrelated incidents. The real crisis, overshadowing all the rest of this, however, is that Madison's brother, Brad, has vanished.

Brick is still a shady character, and he's replaced Bitsy with someone that Fab likes even less (how is that possible?) who appears to have no past, when the girls ask their bartender/info source to look into her.

If you like hilarious adventures, you'll enjoy the Paradise series. Don't be afraid to jump into it in the middle, as each book can be read on it's own, but once you've read one, you'll be hooked, and want to go back and read them all!

As an almost native Floridian, I can certainly relate to the experience of a hurricane coming through and the need to evacuate. In Hurricane in Paradise by Deborah Brown, not only does the main character Mad have to deal with evacuating from a storm, she also have to weather crazy things like murder, a missing brother, and all kinds of utter chaos. The setting for the book is the Florida Keys and Brown certainly knows how to imbue her story with all things Florida. With an easy, breezy style, Brown captivates with a well rounded story that features squatters who take over Mad's cottage and other seemingly impossible to deal with scenarios. Written to include an oddball cast, Brown doesn't waste words with overly descriptive passages, but keeps the pace of action fast to keep the story moving along. A fun, light, read for those who want a little bit of Florida sunshine along with murder and mayhem.

I had a bit of trouble believing some of the actions of Madison and crew in this book. Yes, I know that they are a bit 'out there.' But lunch at the Crab Shack while a loved one is still missing? Not buying it. She seemed to lack intensity in certain situations. That said, it's a decent plot, and a fun read.

I have read the previous books in this series and once I saw this I had to read it. With out a doubt this was the best one yet. I absolutely loved it. This series has been one of the best series I have read in awhile. Deborah Brown is one heck of a writer. She has the ability to pull you in to the story and have you hooked from the beginning to the end.

The characters are so loveable/likeable and feel so real. There very well done. They get better and better in each book. The characters were very entertaining and fun to read about. They all had a little bit of quarkiness in them. Which I loved about them.

The plot was very interesting with a lot of action and it kept me reading till the end.A very well written story. There's a little bit of murder in this story,as well as a missing person and just fun awesome characters even a fun crazy grandma.

I hope you pick this book up and the others in this series as well. If you love a good mystery, fun characters this book is for you.

I received a ARC of this book to give a honest review.

Hurricane in Paradise (Florida Keys Mystery Series Book 10) written by Deborah Brown is a wonderful mystery/adventure type novel. This is the 10th book in the series, but this is the only book I have read so far, and I was surprised that this book is able to stand alone from the series. I found the author’s writing was fast paced and there is humour throughout the novel. I loved the characters Madison and Fab. These two main characters are lots of fun and are well developed by the author. The story starts out with a hurricane wreaking havoc on Madison’s home, she escaped with her pets at the request of her boyfriend, but when she gets back she finds squatters in her home with a “legal” lease. This novel has many different situations from a court battle to a missing person and I enjoyed reading every page! This author has an amazing talent for writing and I look forward to reading more of her work. I highly recommend you pick up this book, you won’t regret it!

Here we go again with the exciting band of Tarpon Coves residents who take us on a rip roaring ride of excitement, love, relationships and a deep commitment to a close knit group. The beauty of the books is how creative and ingenuous the author is in keeping the novels flowing with fresh and inventive ideas.

If you haven’t read any of the previous novels this is not a problem as the author gives an excellent synopsis of what has occurred in the previous novels. The characters go from strength to strength and become larger than life. You cannot help but fall in love with them and want to help them get out of their scrapes, trials and tribulations.

In this particular novel poor Madison has a lot to deal when a dead body is found on her property after a hurricane, her brother has gone missing and also has to care for the eccentric folk she has let live in her cottages. Along with her best friend Fab working for a local hood and crossing the lines of the law on several occasions a lesser woman have cracked.

The characters in Tarpon Cove could be linked to local people in your vicinity and I think that’s why I can relate strongly to the novels. The scenes and places also create vivid images of local places and when I visit them can imagine Madison and her entourage just popping up around the corner.

The tenth novel in an excellent series and is a must read for any fan of this particular genre.

Another entertaining, don't have to think about it, read. There are times that I read one of these in this series, and when I finish I think, "I don't need to read any more of these." This one did not quite reach that stage, but it was confusing part of the time; as it appeared to me as if there were too many stories going on (and I kept getting them confused). Like I said, this is one of those that I read just to be entertained, and I don't want to have to think too much about it. If that is what you are looking for, I would recommend this series.

Filled To The Brim With Fun

Since this was book 10 in the series I’m familiar with this authors writing style. She always has multiple things happening at the same time. But she really packed in the action in this book. There are dead bodies galore and with different killers. Then we have a missing person. She wraps it all up with a surprising and very happy ending. Madison and Fab get into plenty of trouble. We also meet some new and interesting characters. Of course the boyfriends are in the mix too. All in all another fun read.

Deborah Brown books are infectious. She has an exuberance for life that spills onto the pages of her books, which are often humorous. If this fun-loving writer can continue to pull off this Florida Keys mystery series, she will have a committed audience.

While it is still easy to read in one or two sittings, there is quite a bit of action and suspense in this installment of the series, engaging the reader and ensuring they will want to push through each page to see what happens next.

Hurricane 10 pages. Rest if the book 210 pages.

The hurricane is honestly a non-event for this book. The title had me thinking the story would be much more related to the storm. Found my first 2 typos in a Ms Brown book. Not bad for being 11 books in. Also, please be prepared to read the same descriptions of certain things absolutely verbatim. It's annoying but allows for skimming.
