Rate this book
Nineteen year old Renata Delayney is following her dream of becoming an artist. Enrolled as an art student at CAS, she embarks on another year with the aim of starting a new life … a life that involves romance. Surrounded by couples, Renata feels it is time she let love become a part of her otherwise complete life. Despite her loving parents, brother, godfather and a flat of her own, Renata is desperate to experience the feeling of ‘togetherness’. Unfamiliar with this feeling, she grasps at the signs of a potential relationship and tries to fit the pieces into the puzzle of what is known as love. Sir Walter Lewes is head of the Home Civil service and godfather to Renata. At 58 years old and a good friend of her father’s, Renata relies on his companionship and regularly lunches with him. As her awareness of love starts to unfold, she begins to realise that his attention towards her goes beyond that of a godfather. Could this be what she is missing in her life? Is she prepared to let his love develop beyond that of a family friend? Through her brother, Ned, she meets the young, rich and dashing Mallord White. A banker, breaking away from the family business, Mallord is determined to lead a carefree, successful life. Renata and Mallord start a relationship but Renata takes it further than Mallord is prepared for. Bouncing between the attention from her godfather and her feelings towards Mallord, Renata falls into a dangerous and turbulent start to her new life. Proper

It was a different story than I normally read. the writing was very proper, definitely not your YA slang. I sort of liked this book. I'm up in the air about it. I'm hoping there is a second book because it leave you wondering. I can't decide if it's a cliff hanger or just one of those stories that lets you decide the ending.
The older male to a young female has never really appealed to me. that being said, if you get a good price on this book give it a go. It is well written and the story is intriguing.
