For such a short book there was way too much going on in order for me to actually invest in Joshua and Ayden and enjoy their story.
Both characters were one dimensional and were hard to distinguish from the other. It was also hard to take them seriously when they both changed their minds about how they felt or what they thought from paragraph to paragraph. Basically, Ayden had his head in the clouds about their 'relationship' and Joshua had his head up his ass. And with the unmarked head-hopping between the MC's (and even a random character) I had to read several paragraphs again in order to figure out who's head I was in.
The plot was silly and way too convoluted, even for fiction, and what it comes down to was I just didn't buy the fact that these two men had known each other for years, let alone had actually fallen in love.
If you just want something to read where you don't care about realism and don't have to think too hard, this is for you. I was disappointed because The Clone, which was co-authored, was such an interesting take on romance, and this was the complete opposite.
I think I’m being generous by giving two stars. This story was just a mess, but then again, gay-for-you stories usually are. As it was repeated several time, Joshua and Ayden had oogling, drooling, working, etc. together for “years.” Huh. How long has Joshua been on probation. And then the whole ridiculous blackmail thing that started them dating and boom; Mr. I’m-not-gay-but-I’m-gay-for-him jumps right in and he and Ayden are humping like bunnies. Then, just so there can be some more angst, they have a fallout and Ayden is hiding away in a hotel planning on just driving off into the sunset. His sister Lori, the instigator of everything, gets all boo-hoo that they are the only family they have left....wait, back up....didn’t Ayden lend Joshua his Maserati and tell him there is a “do not pull over order” because his older brother is a captain on the police force? A whole lot of inconsistencies, bad dialogue and too much nonsense is what this is about.
after his prison time Joshua is doing what he must to keep out of trouble. he wasn't looking for love but when is blackmailed into dating Ayden that all changed. now he will do anything to keep Ayden in his life even if that means getting in trouble with his PO
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
Over all I thought this was a good read. I liked the characters and thought the conflicts worked. I would have liked it to be a little more in depth. I recieved a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy.
I received this book as an ARC for a voluntary and honest review.
This is actually two stories in one book. The first book we meet Joshua and Ayden. Ayden has always been hot for Joshua but he knows that he is a straight man and he has no shot with him. Little does he know that Joshua has been having feelings for Ayden as well but he knows he can't act on them. What happens though when Joshua is blackmailed into dating Ayden? Will this blow up in their faces or will they find their HEA?
In the second book we meet Grayson and Dion. Grayson is finally sick of the party one night stand kind of scene and is looking for something more permanent, he thinks he might have found this in Dion. There is only one promise with this to get his trust fund he must marry and have an heir on the way to get his inheritance and being with Greyson won't do this for him. Can they find a way to have it all or will they both be left longing for the one they truly love?
These are two amazing stories about finding love and showing what you will do to keep that love. these stories are more than the gender they are talking about they are about finding a love that will last. I would like to tell you more about each of these stories but don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
I enjoyed the romance between Ayden and Joshua. Joshua was on probation and trying to turn his life around but when he gets a text threatening to turn in a picture of him with a beer (which he isn't supposed to drink) to his probation officer he panics and does what they demand, which is, date Ayden for two weeks. They were both attracted to each other for quite a while before the threat so it was no big deal for Joshua (except for the deceit part of it). I didn't like the dog fighting portion of the story since I'm a big animal lover, however, Joshua was kind enough to keep the losing dog, although the dog was kept at Ayden's house. The story was evenly paced and executed nicely. It had a unique twist to it that I don't usually experience in other books. Overall this was a sweet, heartwarming read. :)
This was an interesting book with Josh and Ayden. Both men gay, but Josh is on probation from prison after being put in jail for illegal gambling. Ayden however has his stuff together and co-owns a bar with his sister. Both men are attracted to each other, but Josh is sure he is straight and Ayden is too shy and ill-used from his previous relationships to try and approach Josh. Josh gets involved with gambling one more time to help with his sister's kidney transplant. The he gets blackmailed and he feels as if a noose tightening around his throat. Read about this blackmail, lusting after your boss, straight to gay sex and love, aggressive ex-lovers, too helpful sisters, dog fight, rescue dog, and love. Again no use of safety protection during sex, otherwise an enjoyable read.
Ok so I have some issues with this book.. it was way to short, I think it could have spread out more and made more sense. I felt like the flow went a little too fast and I got lost a few times on who was talking and then I got confused on who did what, like for a while I thought Josh was the bar owner and Ayden was the one on parole. I also didn't understand the reason for blackmailing, she could have just done what she did at the end and got them together. I was thinking there was gonna be some suspense thrill ride and got nothing. I wanted to like this book but honestly I couldn't get into it and just when I thought I did finally understand everything, it was over. I'm not normally this mean in reviews but this book really fell flat for me.

Joshua Teel is hardened. Between his prison time and his lack of love in his life, he realizes it is time to straighten up. Meeting Ayden at his new job opens up new feelings of vulnerability and hope. Ayden Knoll is tender-hearted and full of the boyish charm all the men desire. He believes he missed any chance he had with Ayden. There are many things going on in this short book. Joshua and Aiden's new relationship, Ayden being blackmailed, and Ayden's sister being sick. I would have like more depth into Joshua and Ayden's familial relationships.
This is fast paced, interesting read. Ayden and Josh both have their own issues to work through to be together and there is a lot crammed into this book. It was incredibly easy to figure out the antagonist in this one and the motives behind it, but that didn't detract from the story for me. I feel like it would've been better to have had less going on in the periphery of this romance, but it's still a good read.
Not bad but there's too much going on in such a short book.
I liked the two main characters but the ex and the random are redundant to the plot.
It could also do with expanding on the sister's illness and their mother's expectation of him to just produce such a large sum of money out of nowhere given that he had been in prison!
The book seemed to have so much going on and so fast paced that I felt as though I'd been caught in an avalanche.
