Ok I give up on this series. I really tried to stick with it but it has too many issues to me. I was looking forward to the series with a strong female FBI agent as the lead character. But having a man read the audio book and attempt a horrible feminine voice finally got to me. I really got tired of the constant sexual treatment of the character. Every guy checks our "her curves", all the terrorist try to rape/sexual assault her and her PTSD was horrible and used over and over and over. It made her become an unsympathic hero. One last thing, maybe it was the audio book but there is a lot of YELLING by characters. "GET HIM ON THE PHONE NOW". I really tried to stick with it but I am out of this series.
I chose four stars because I needed to find out how the crises resolved. I could have enjoyed the book more without all of Jana's angst and PTSD problems. First time for me that the heroine was a major distraction.
Special Agent Bakers life has become a nightmare. Everything about her past is a lie. She has to stop a terrorist from detonating a nuclear device of such magnitude that America would crumbles to its knees. Non stop action, suspense. This is an absolutely amazing read!!
This was another easy read by Nathan Goodman. it was a continuation of his 15th protocol where special agent Jana Baker is in Spain completing the Comino trail when she gets a call from the terrorist Waseem Jarrah who in the last book detonated an atomic warhead at the CIA building killing thousands Will Jana get her revenge well pick up this book and find out.......
I'm still having a hard time believing the premise that 3 newbies to the intelligence biz saved the world 3 times. The "witty banter" between the 3 of them is also a bit tiring. Definitely not on par with Robert Ludlum or Dan Brown. Hopefully, with some more experience these books will be a bit more realistic.
I am enjoying the series and will finish to see how things turn out. But I do have one question from book number 4- what happened to the PTSD dog Jana had to help her? It was there at the early part of the book but then no further mention?
As compared to the first two books in the Protocol series, this one just, for some vague reason, didn't grab my attention. You know what I mean, don't you?Compulsive page turning, cell phone calls straight to voice mail...in other words: don't interrupt my story. This one: not so much. In fact, when I realized I hadn't delivered on a promised review, I had to dig into my book list to see if I had even read it yet. It didn't take but a few pages before I remembered it. That is just not the best impression, especially when it's predecessor ended with a nuclear strike against the CIA headquarters in Washington DC! I'll read it again just to be safe but don't expect a redo of this review...unless???
I was very excited by the first third of this book. The writing was clean and direct. The story was interesting. Then when the story got to the extended dialogue between the three main characters, I thought it became a lot less enjoyable. These are agents with only 2 years of experience, and one NSA nerd with no field experience, running around and yelling and ordering folks around. The middle half of the book did not feel the same to me.
The climax was good, well described setting and action. The story kept going for many pages afterward - I understand where the character was going, but the story seemed to be dragging by then.
Thank you for another sensational read. You were right, this was epic and had me hooked from the start. I look forward to receiving the answers to the questions you have raised, and surely look forward to your next book. Please do not retire Miss Jana Baker just yet. I suppose down the line you probably plan to start a new series with Kyle, and that is great. Thank you for a great holiday read.
