When nurse Jess Bellamy returns to her hometown for a cousin’s wedding, she hopes to completely avoid her ex and first love, Morgan Price. But Morgan is the best man, and the groom’s best friend, so try as she might, Jess can’t avoid him. Teenage Morgan, she got over. Grown up Morgan is infinitely hotter, infinitely more successful, and infinitely harder to ignore.
When they re-kindle the explosive physical connection between them, Jess hopes they've burned it out of their systems. She left everything behind five years ago after her father’s funeral, including Morgan, and she's leaving again in two days. She had good reasons for going, and good reasons for staying away.
But as Morgan and Jess explore their searing passion during that lost weekend, Jess is tempted by what might have been and haunted by the ghosts of what was. She has two days to decide whether to keep her secrets or keep the only man she's ever loved.

Jess and Morgan were high school sweethearts and shared a once-in-a-lifetime and all-encompassing type of love. Tragically, her father died and she was overwhelmed with guilt and grief and fled to London. Miscommunication, misdirection, and malice contributed to Jess staying away for five years. But now her cousin and best friend is getting married and she refuses to disappoint her by not attending. Even if it means coming face-to-face with the pain of the past. Even if it means trying to be around Morgan again, as he's the best man and she's still very much in love with him. She can definitely survive the next couple of days. But will her heart?
I'm a sucker for a great second chance romance and Entwined delivered. These two characters suffered so much pain and unfortunately most of it was unnecessary. However, it was real and the author did a remarkable job of exploring that pain and moving her characters through it. It wasn't easy and thankfully it wasn't made to appear superficial. I only wish Jess' mother had some sort of comeuppance for the part she played in the misery.
Release Date: January 15, 2017 Genre: Contemporary Romance - 2nd chance POV: Dual - 3rd person Heat: 3 out of 5 Type: Standalone - Book 2 of the Recovery series with minimal character crossover
I got completely swept up in this second chance love story and loved every moment of it! Stories like this are my book crack and me a very happy little book junkie.
Morgan and Jess were in love as teenagers and as far as they were concerned, nothing would ever break them apart. Until Jess’ father died suddenly. Jess left Swansea for London and hasn’t been home in five years.
Her relationship with her mother is toxic at best so she has managed to steer clear of her as long as she could. Here is the thing about family, you don’t have to like or love everyone you are related to, if they add nothing positive to your life then stay away from them. This is something I have personally learnt over the years of my life so far and it works for me.
Now Jess and Morgan are about to be thrust together again at her cousins wedding, where he will be in the wedding party. However, that is not the only thrusting that will be happening in this book, not by a long shot! The moment these two see each other again everything is temporarily forgotten as passion takes over. Morgan is even more handsome now and Jess is remembering how it felt to be his with every kiss and caress he gives her.
Jess thinks that they just need to get this wild attraction between them out of their systems and then they can both move on with their lives. Morgan is not thinking the same way though, now that he has had Jess again he is determined to show her why she should stay.
There is a big elephant in the room though, the reason behind Jess leaving is the only thing anchoring her in London and there is no way she is going to tell Morgan what she has been holding inside her heart for five years. He would never look at her the same way again.
This was a book rich in emotion and feeling, I felt all the pain and sorrow between Jess and Morgan as they struggled to deal with their past and the reality of their now. A beautiful second chance love story.
I just finished reading Entwined which is the second book in the “Recovery Series” by J.C. Harroway. The books are can be read separately and while I fully enjoyed reading “Recovery” (the first book) I had a much harder time with this book.
Similar to the first book the reader is thrown right into an existing story – similar like opening a door to a crowded pup and trying to find your friends. The beginning was bumpy and I admit I am not sure why Jess did what she did in that pub there the first night, I thought it was not a good idea to say it politely.
Once I got over my slight irritation at that beginning I found a heartbreaking story with tons of misunderstandings and hurtful moments. I cannot say “what happened to Jess and Morgan” because it is more of a “what was DONE TO Jess and Morgan” was so shocking to me that there was a moment when I had to catch myself as the author had me on the brink of an emotional moment.
Please enjoy this romance full of second chances… that will hopefully lead to a HEA ?
*I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinion stated are solely my own and no one else's*
Jessie finally made it to her cousin's wedding; the one she forced herself to attend. It's the hen night and the bride to be has dared the two single gals to kiss the next stranger who enters the pub. Jessie is wary - knowing her luck, she'll probably get an OAP. When the pub door opens, her heart drops because standing before her is the man she left five years ago, Morgan. One kiss ignites their inner flames, reminding both of the love they once shared. She's running from her past but he deserves to know the truth: except when the time comes to confess; will she run away or come clean as to why she left?
Morgan and Jessie's pain/hurt echoes powerfully throughout. Their story was heartbreaking and what made it worse is poor Morgan had no idea why she left. They had great chemistry: it was intense, passionate and consuming. The author captured their emotions, insecurities, fears and burdens beautifully throughout.
This was a beautiful yet heartfelt story about second chances, forgiveness and opening your heart.
The book was well written but very repetitious. I enjoyed the epilogue which tied everything together nicely.
**I received this book free from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.**
I’m going to start my review by saying that this book was not bad. I know a lot of people that would love this and I enjoyed a large majority of this book. The reason for me rating it so low was because of the number of tropes that I absolutely despise in romance novels being present in Entwined. And honestly, I probably should have chosen a little more carefully when looking through the Netgalley selections. I just had no idea how many tropes would pile up and would make me cringe.
Entwined is a “second-chance” love story about Jess Bellamy, who has returned to her hometown for her cousin’s wedding, but she has not been back in five years. Jess must come face to face with the best man, Morgan Price, who was her high school love. Only of course it wasn’t any high school love, it was the explosive, passionate and unforgettable high school love that ruined both of their prospects of moving on within their five year separation. Do I sound slightly annoyed?
To be honest, I love cheesy romance novels! I love happily ever after’s and meet-cutes and all of those things so I had no way of knowing that I would only feel slightly mediocre about this one.
Of course the romance isn’t all there is to Entwined. Jess has a strained relationship with her mother and it is one that I would find completely unforgivable as well. Her mother doesn’t seem to have a grasp on reality, just listens to her own version of the truth and that plays out in unfortunate ways throughout the whole book. Carol is an easy villain in our story but she doesn’t play as big of a role in the story as we would think.
Entwined is told in two perspectives, Jess and Morgan’s and while I found Jess’s perspective to be more informative, I loved Morgan’s point of view. Without his inner monologue I would not have found him to be an enjoyable hero. Jess’s memories of him are sweet and intriguing enough but based on his present day actions I would not have found him compelling in any way. He was indifferent and harsh and so stubborn he completely refused to hear Jess out for the majority of the book. He was this way every time Jess and him met but when we were given his inner monologue we finally were given access to his true feelings and his concealed vulnerability.
Morgan was my favorite part about this book. And unfortunately there isn’t a lot else I loved. Jess was likable enough but her insistence that she keep secrets (even from the reader) was the most annoying part of this book. Others might not find that a downside, but lack of communication and unnecessary secrets is by biggest pet peeve in ANY book, not just romance novels.
I’m going to put the spoiler header up for this next section because I need to talk about my biggest frustration with this book, but I want people to be able to opt out.
I found Entwined to be interesting and a nice quick read and I did enjoy most of it, however I don’t think would be able to recommend it without talking about some of the bigger downsides in my opinion.
I would love to talk to other about what they thought of the different plot points and characters! Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
I loved, loved JC’s first book so was pleased to get an ARC of this second story. Its tough though following such a great start, so I wondered how it would stand up to that one. Recovery, JC’s debut story was set around one of my weaknesses –the film star/rock star trope – so it already had an edge, but this one is a second chance romance and I enjoy those too, so I was ready for another cracker.
It was a good read once again, with very believable people and realistic plots and settings, (but as an artist can I just say that though you Can paint with watercolours on specially treated canvas, that's unusual and paper is the norm...) It didn’t quite have the magic for me of the first book though, it was a fun read but didn’t quite hook me in the same way, keep me gripped to the page, wondering what was coming next.
I loved Jess and of course Morgan – and who wouldn’t?? When we do finally know the reasons for their split, the big secret that gets taunted to us all the way through, it seems a bit light, a little naive, almost implausible. What we have to remember is they were still very young, still teens and judgement and decisions made then aren’t always the best. Don't you look back at some teen times and wonder how on earth you thought that, did thingst, belived others when we the passage of time we can see it was all wrong...Of course there was no real reason then to distrust, that came later with time and distance, the ability to see through people.
I loved Melissa, Jess friend and cousin, too though was a little puzzled that the priest pronounced Melissa and Daniel man and wife, when it was Gary she was marrying ;-) I’m reading an ARC though so this hopefully will have been corrected, made me smile though!
Its really centred around why Jess left, what happened, why didn’t she tell anyone what was wrong, especially poor Morgan who thought they were so in love. Now she’s back for the wedding, and they’re both still feeling the pull of the past, and trying hard to just get through the weekend and be civil, never mind how they feel inside. Its really easy to pick up on the fact they still share an intense passion, the air around them crackles with it and there’s some well written steamy scenes between them.
Its an enjoyable read, but felt a bit simplistic in a way, I was sad when the story came out, understood that teens don’t always have a good overview and are not always able to make the best decisions but it still didn’t really fill the story for me. Unlike the first book, which I could and have re-read, this one is a one off read only. If you’re looking for a feel-good, light read with a bit of a sad story in the background this may be perfect for you, but for me the drama side was a bit lacking and flat.
Stars: Its more than a three but not quite a four, so three and a half.

Entwined is an enjoyable second chance romance with a couple who never truly let go of their affection for each other – yet other things got in the way and prevented their younger selves from staying together. Now as adults they are meeting again under the love filled time of a wedding, only to discover that the past really isn’t in the past for either of them.
This story is filled with that “mis” emotion or word – misunderstanding, miscommunication, mistakes and one big secret. While the love that Jess and Morgan still share may be burning hot right now, they still have a lot to get past or through to their happy ever after.
I enjoyed this one for various reasons. One was the clear feeling of seeing the younger couple vs the adult couple. Youth is such a confusing time to begin with, add to that a love that feels as strong as anything an adult would experience but without the maturity… and you will find misunderstandings and separations that probably wouldn’t have happened. It’s easy to play the what if game, but reality has put them together and it’s up to them to make this work between then in the now or walk away for good.
I believe most Romance readers would enjoy Entwined, it’s a solid story, an engaging couple and full of emotions.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
I have to say, that I am not really one for 'second chance at love' books, however this one actually made me engrossed from the moment I started reading it.
Jess and Morgan were teenage lovers who couldn't get enough of each other, until Jess' dad suddenly passes away and she leaves Wales for London after telling Morgan she wants space; Morgan does as he is asked however slowly contact between the two dwindle until there is no contact..
Five years later and Jess has to come back for her cousin's wedding, hoping to avoid Morgan at all costs, to try and prevent the big secret she is harbouring from coming out.
But as soon as the reconnect fireworks go off again.
I absolutely loved this book, it was a sweet romance which actually made me a laugh and cry in places (which I don't very often do with books)
The only one downfall that I would have for the book (which is the reason it isn't five stars) is that there seemed to be some bits of over detailing the book ~ Which probably didn't need to be in there but that didn't stop me loving it. Very well deserved 4 stars
this is one of the better second chance romances, that actually worked well, and was believable. Sometimes these types of stories seem forced and leave you to wonder how in the world the main characters connected in the first place, but not with this book. It is a quick read, that I finished in one setting. Not too much fluff, to get distracted by, which is nice and refreshing. I really enjoyed this book.
I received a copy of this book for free in return for an honest review
This was a very interesting and very hot story. The story revolves around Jess Bellamy who left home at seventeen for reasons only her bitchy mother Carol knows. Her father has passed away but on the day of his death is when everything in Jess’ life peeked out of control. You see she had or should I say still is madly and truly in love with Morgan Price. From the first time, she saw him the new kid walk at school with a purpose. She loved his confidence, his sense of style, and his “F” you attitude. When they became an item nothing and no one else existed. They were always together at each other’s homes her at his mostly due to her mother. But he and her dad got along great because they both loved to restore old cars. At the same time, they were volatile together. They loved hard and fought harder, and learned the make-up sex was euphoric. Well, on this one week Jess was fighting over everything. Morgan couldn’t seem to keep up. So, he backed off. Jess was worried over this fight that maybe she took it too far but couldn’t seem to talk to him yet. They had never fought like this one before. Soon, after her dad dies and Morgan wanted to be there for her but she was numb and distant not to mention her mother was accusing her of her father’s death. She was a blank shell of herself. After the funeral, she told Morgan and Mel her cousin and BFF that she needed time and was going to stay with and aunt for a while. Well, that small time out turned to be five years. With Mel getting married she wants and needs to be there but the idea of going to Swansea where all the memories, ghosts, and secrets are does not appeal to her. Most of all it is where she left her heart and soul—Morgan. You will enjoy this short. You see how important a first-time love can be and change the outcome and outlook of our lives at a young age. Not to mention how lies, lies compounded, lies of omission, and fear can destroy. I give this: 5 stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.

3.5 stars.
I read this on the afternoon that I downloaded it from NetGalley (it's beside the point I have hundreds of other books to read, right?) it was very well written, and given it's fairly short was a quick read. Perfect for a rainy day (or a hot afternoon, when moving is difficult).
Entwined by J.C. Harroway is a second chance romance, which, it turns out, I enjoy a whole lot more than instalove/lust. Phew! I liked the connection between Jess and Morgan, their past history was a bit messy and it was mostly believable to me (because humans are weird). They are both stubborn and unwilling to share their secrets after being apart for 5 years, which makes for some tension.
There's some weird family dynamics going on which made the plot fall over a little bit. I just couldn't wrap my head around Jess trusting someone during a stressful time (which is to do with why she was gone from her hometown for so long), a person she does not have a healthy relationship with. Nor did I get the blame that was shoved in her direction for past events that were not her fault. It gave an easy 'villain' though I suppose.
This book does use my least favourite trope EVER, and I saw it coming from a mile away. It was a bit of a downer and affected the ending for me, which was a pity; but I enjoyed it up until then. Although I must admit, Jess's 'wailing' with pleasure made me giggle each time, because I associate wailing with grief/despair/crying, so the use of that word was a bit strange to me lol
All in all, this was a well written quick read, though the plot had a few faults. I'll definitely be checking out more of J.C. Harroway's work in the future - I have the first book of the series on my kindle to read since I opted to read them out of order; but as far as I can tell they work just fine as standalone novels :)

This was the first book I have read by this author and I can tell you it will not be the last. I loved every minute of Jess and Morgan's story and when I was finished, I immediately went and downloaded the first book in this series....
This is a story of second chances and the author did a fantastic job of capturing all their emotions and feelings. In the beginning I was not 100% sold on Jess as I could not understand why she had hurt Morgan the way she did, but as the book progressed and you find out more about what happened it all starts to make sense why she did what she did.
They basically meet in high school. They are 17 years old and madly in love. They are together for a while until something happens and Jess leaves Morgan. He has no idea why and he is terribly heartbroken. The book takes place years later when Jess comes back to town to attend her cousins wedding. The minute these 2 are in the same room again, all the feelings and emotions they managed to push down all these years resurface until they have no choice but to deal with them. Jess is determined she is only staying in town a few days and then going back to London once her time is over. Morgan is angry and he wants answers. He wants to know why the girl he loved more than life itself could hurt him like that.
The book is wonderfully written and as I said all their emotions and feeling are beautifully captured. The author truly has a way with words and I look forward to seeing more from this talented Kiwi author!!!
I enjoyed JC Harroway’s first novel so much I was really looking forward to reading her second one—and it didn’t disappoint. It is another super-hot, contemporary romance, this time set between Swansea and London. Her hero, Morgan is a sexy brooding artist and her heroine, Jess, a rather emotionally fragile nurse, returning home to Swansea after a five-year absence.
It is a classic second-chance-at-love story; two soulmates whose love has derailed but not disappeared, who find themselves thrown together again for Jess’ cousin’s wedding. Both sides bring emotional baggage, regrets and distrust to the reunion and as the story continues and more of their past is revealed it looks like it might all go completely to custard. So even though “Entwined” belongs to a genre where HEAs are guaranteed, there is a truckload of miscommunications, mistakes, stubbornness, family and fears to overcome first. Not to mention secrets. BIG secrets.
So how do these damaged people come back from the pain and take the chance to become a couple again? I seriously recommend you read “Entwined” and find out. It's a fantastic read.
Might be biased because of the local setting, but I did enjoy the characters and didn't feel that the cplot problem was unrealistic in the context of the story. It was really quite refreshing to read a novel like this not set in small-town America.
A sexy, passionate second-chance romance, Entwined is a great read. Jess and Morgan are such believable characters and the chemistry between them is explosive. In love as teenagers, they are thrown back together at a friend's wedding. While they can't deny their attraction for each other, neither is prepared to let down their defences and risk being hurt again. Entwined has lots of unexpected twists and turns that keep the reader guessing right up to the very satisfying ending. I loved JC Harroway's first book in this series, Recovery, and am looking forward to reading more from this exciting writer.
3.5 stars Following a seven year absence, Jess is homeward bound for her cousin’s wedding. Her departure was an emotional one, in part brought about by the death of her father and the tumultuous and uncompromisingly horrible personality of her mother. We know there are secrets but don’t yet know the full impetus behind her decision to flee and never look back. What we do now is that, apart from leaving her family and friends, she also left behind her sweetheart, Morgan, the love of her life, who just happens to be the best man at the wedding.
As the circumstances surrounding their separation came to light, my heart really felt for them both and all that they had lost. It was heartbreaking, and I have to add a trigger warning here. There is an emotional scenario and accompanying scenes that may be a trigger for some of you. There is no violence or assault, but a trigger nonetheless.
Apart from my reservations about Jess at the beginning, Entwined really kept me engaged and wishing I had more time to finish it in one sitting. I find that I do love a second chance romance, particularly with a well fleshed out storyline which takes each character on a journey through a gamut of emotions, resulting in substantial character growth. The story was well paced with a satisfying epilogue. I do like the way this author writes and will be looking out for her next book.
We all need a light read sometimes. There was a bit more to this than the usual will they/won't they get back together story. It seemed clear from the outset that they would. But there's teasers all the way through about a big secret. I half guessed what this was, and when it was revealed it made sense of Jess's reluctance to leave London. I hadn't read the first book in the series, and indeed, had I known there was one, I may have looked it up before reading this. It worked as a stand alone however. My feelings on the characters changed throughout the book, at times I went off Jess - Morgan was always a likeable character, steady but with more than a hint of wildness about him. In the way they reacted to each other the book was a more modern version of a frothy romance. A reasonable story and some good steamy scenes, for those looking for them! And another lesson on not listening to other people's interfering - it can wreck lives!!
This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone.i enjoyed this book not as much as the first but its still a super read i just love a good second chance romance.Loved Morgan and Jess and found their story very real and heartbreaking at times a great book recommended
