I'm an independent author, wife, and a working mom. In my downtime (ha!) I crochet dolls and make jewelry. I don't crochet very many dolls or make much jewelry. I prefer paranormal fiction, but I am open to any genre if the story is compelling. Right now, I am working on the third in my vampire series, Watcher in the Darkness.

Review:

"Draugr" by K.M.Spires was a sad read in that it dealt with a lots of devastating problems...death, suicide, and mAurder. It is really one of those reads that gets better as you continue to read it. This young man(Josh) had just lost his girlfriend (Mia)...was it suicide or murder. The author K. M. Spires, kept my interest...the characters were all intriguing people...many that were not too likable. What will Josh do in order to get his love back...well this is where I say you must pick up "Draugr" for yourself to see. Be prepared for a ride because there will be many twist and turns along the way and omg....what a ending! Will love conquer all?

If you are in for a mystery with many twist and turns...action packed, with gay-lesbian issues and even abusiveness...then..."Draugr" will be a good read for you.

Short & Mysterious but not for me.

I was looking for stories about draugrs but this is not at all what I expected. SPOILERS ahead:

I was interested in the mystery of Mia's death although I wasn't surprised by the truth. I also wasn't surprised by the secret community of lesbians but was disinterested in the degree to which it effected the story. The most relatable character for me was the devoutly religious Abuela though I got the impression from the beginning that Christianity wasn't a serious consideration in this story or even the author's belief. By the end, I felt without hope in what I feel is a lack of justice, no confirmation of Love and the loss of eternal peace. The biggest point of anxiety for me was the ever-fleeting connection of Josh going after Mia. When younger, I was all too familiar with the lack of reciprocated feelings in a relationship.

Alas, I don't believe this story was written for me so I am reluctant to 2-star it but I wanted to be honest.
