SOMEONE WILL DO ANYTHING TO DESTROY HANNAH NIGHTINGALE

Criminal profiler Dr Hannah Nightingale is found drugged and tied naked to a fountain in the city centre . . .

Hannah can’t remember anything about what happened. Clearly someone very evil is determined to take vengeance on Hannah. But the obvious suspect, Debbie Connelly, is safely locked in a secure mental hospital, isn’t she?

Detective Falcon and the Garton police do everything they can to try to protect Hannah. Yet the criminal who is after her has an elaborate and devious plan to destroy everything Hannah cares about, piece by piece.

Framed for murder, Hannah goes on the run among the homeless community of Garton where she discovers more shocking secrets and tries to prove her innocence.

In a shattering conclusion Hannah faces her tormentor in a life and death stand-off in a disused mental hospital.

VENGEANCE is the fourth in a series of best-selling thrillers. Great for fans of Sarah Flint, Paul Finch. Kathy Reichs, Angela Marsons, and Patricia Cornwell.

THE DETECTIVES: David Mallory is an old-school policeman who has made some powerful enemies within his own department. DCI Gary Falcon is an ambitious young man on the rise, but his father’s legal work for the city’s criminal does not play well with his fellow officers.

THE PROFILER: Dr Hannah Nightingale an up-and-coming forensic psychiatrist who is employed as a consultant profiler by the police. The Nightingale family are prominent in the Garton social scene and Hannah has to fight hard to be accepted by a sceptical police force. She suffered a tragic loss in an earlier relationship and finds it hard to commit to a new man.

THE SETTING: Garton is a fictional port city in the north of England. It’s faced years of industrial decline, but a strong community spirit and sense of humour give hope of revival. But there are still pockets of rundown inner-city criminality.

I love this series and the I am very happy to say the 4th in the series has recovered from a minor dip in the 3rd book. All the books have been fast paced but this one excels itself with non-stop action from the start, a lot of suspense, twists and turns and believable characters. Yet again an ending to die for!
The only slight downside is the lack of development in one of the senior policemen’s character, but maybe in the fifth book. There was so much else going on it this book, maybe it was feltr it might detract from the main story.
Each book can easily be read as a standalone, but ideally read then in order and read them soon.

VENGEANCE a fast-paced thriller by Roy Chester is the fourth in a new series of crime thrillers which can be read as standalone books. Having recently read and reviewed the first three books in this series, I was anxious to read this.

DR HANNAH NIGHTINGALE SERIES
Book 1: THE TOYBREAKER
Book 2: ANGER MAN
Book 3: PREY
Book 4: VENGEANCE

“SOMEONE WILL DO ANYTHING TO DESTROY HANNAH NIGHTINGALE”

“Criminal profiler Dr. Hannah Nightingale is found drugged and tied naked to a fountain in the city
centre . . . “

But Hannah can’t remember anything? The main suspect, Debbie Connelly, is safely locked in a secure mental hospital. Hannah receives a video and sees herself killing another young woman. And what is worse is that Hannah is being framed for a murder, and has to go into hiding in order to prove her innocence.

In the end Hannah faces her persecutor in a life and death situation in an abandoned mental hospital.

THE DETECTIVES: David Mallory is an old-school policeman who has made some powerful enemies within his own department. DCI Gary Falcon is an ambitious young man on the rise, but his father’s legal work for the city’s criminal does not play well with his fellow officers.

THE PROFILER: Dr. Hannah Nightingale an up-and-coming forensic psychiatrist. The Nightingale family are prominent in the Garton social scene and Hannah has to fight hard to be accepted by a skeptical police force.

The setting for this novel is in the fictional city of Garton in the north west of England.

A thrilling book with plenty of twists and turns to satisfy the reader and believable characters. I really enjoyed reading this series.

Thank you Netgalley, Joffe Books and Roy Chester for the ARC.

Someone is after Dr. Hannah Nightingale. They don't want to kill her ..at least not yet. But they seem bent on driving her insane.

The criminal profiler was abducted, drugged and tied naked to a fountain in the center of the town. She can't remember anything about what happened.

She is abducted for the second time, drugged, and again she doesn't remember anything. However, she was only gone for 2 hours. So what was the reason?

She receives a phone call and a video .... she is absolutely horrified to see herself killing another young woman. Knowing that she is being framed for murder, she runs.

Hannah finds herself in a homeless community.. facing unknown terrors and uncovering secrets that lead to a violent ending in an abandoned mental hospital.

Very suspenseful, there is non-stop action. There are so many suspects .. the new love in Hannah's life, the psychiatrist turned writer who is helping the police, patients of Hannah's who have been discharged from her care.

The series has been very good, starting with Book 1, The Toybreaker. Each book does well as a stand alone, but as usual, would recommend starting at the beginning.

Many thanks to the author / Joffe Books / Netgalley for the digital copy of this novel. The opinion expressed here is unbiased and entirely my own.

Dr Hannah Nightingale is being terrorized by a former patient. Debbie Connelly was sent to a mental hospital because of Hannah's recommendation and she's not happy. Now she's ready to get her vengeance.
It wasn't easy making it to the end. In my opinion Dr Hannah Nightingale was completely UNbelievable as a forensic psychologist. She was weak, had no backbone and was very emotionally unstable. Her and Debbie were too much alike. More than 75% of the book had no appeal for me. I couldn't get immersed in the story at all.

An absolutely fantastic read with brilliant characters. Loved this series and I hope there is more to come. Full of twists and plots. I loved the ending too. Highly recommended. Definitely worth more than 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley.

The Shadow knows!!! I don’t like horror stories, so I read this in the daytime and did what I could to help Hannah. Other than the fact that it was a horror story, I enjoyed it and recommend the book to those who do like horror stories.

Vengeance

This really is the best book in the series so far. It focuses on Hannah Nightingale herself when she is found drugged and tied to a fountain. Debbie Connelly is the immediate suspect but she is in a secure unit.
This book is so different to the preceding ones. Each chapter sees the tension ramped up and I found it hard to put down.
Recommended.

The story was ok in this story but I felt it was as if the author was stuck for a unique story. I felt that having done damage to Hannah Nightingale in the 3rd book to cause her more harm in the 4th book. Having said that, it was well written and I love the characters in these stories, so am looking forward to the next one.

As a criminal profiler and psychiatrist, Dr Hannah Nightingale has come across some of the most dangerous and disturbed individuals.  Her efforts to help the police in their investigations have led to her being a target on more than one occasion - the last time resulting in her being suspended in a cage of glass.  But despite all that she has suffered, Hannah has persevered.  But now, she has been targeted by at least one of the criminals she has helped to put away.

Vengeance begins as Hannah is discovered by police, naked, drugged and handcuffed to a glass sculpture.  This is only the first of a series of events designed to drive Hannah to madness.  Next, Hannah is discovered drugged and wandering after being kidnapped from her home.  CCTV footage given to the press and the police makes it look like she is a killer.  Hannah is on the run, searching for the truth, and her friends on the force are seeking her both as a victim and a possible murderer.  Complicating matters, the anonymous letters accusing Hannah also indicate the existence of a previously unnoticed serial killer.

The beginning of this novel creates an overwhelming feeling of tension.  Hannah’s tormentors seem to have everything planned - no gaps, no hope.  Things look really bad for Hannah with the damning video footage.  Suddenly Roy Chester applies a macguffin- SOCO has a new software that makes it obvious Debbie Connelly is the killer, only she’s made up to look like Hannah.  The novel completely changes at this point. Falcon, his boss, and the teammate race against time to find Hannah, Debbie Connelly and her cohort before she has completed her plan for exacting vengeance.  They have oodles of clues from Debbie’s anonymous letters.  The solution is almost too easy.  Readers are too aware that from the point where Hannah’s innocence is shown that it's only a matter of time before she is rescued.

Vengeance has a lot of unrealized potential.  Unfortunately it seems that once Chester set the scene he got tired of it and wanted to expediently finish the novel.  His previous novels are better.  That doesn't mean that Vengeance isn't well written or entertaining, simply that it could be a lot better.

3/5

I received a copy of Vengeance from the publisher and Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review.

Another trip out with Dr Hannah Nightingale. I have recently been trying to catch up with this series and I really do like the character of Dr Nightingale who is a criminal profiler and psychiatrist.
Hannah is being tortured but why and who by. Someone is out to destroy her. Reading this book will take you on a journey of seeing if someone can survive total madness.
Superbly written and very gripping.

WTF?? This was so bad I kept on reading the same way you watch a car crash. Incredible! The female hero is stripped naked and tied to a fountain. Yeah, right. Although it tried to be modern, it belongs in the English cosy tradition where the villains give the hero every chance to get away and nobody good gets hurt.

Another enjoyable story in this saga. I liked the way the story tied in with previous investigations. I feel the history of the character is significantly lacking, despite getting a snippet of Hannah's life. It s also bereft of humor, by now there should be some sort of banter between the characters.

An improvement on #3 in the series “Prey” which I thought was a bit repetitive in its narrative. This one races along nicely and has an extremely tense finale-even if the final set piece owes a lot to ‘The Wicker Man’!!

Good thrilling storyline again but let down by some bad typos - wrong spellings of words - pray / prey. Kind of took the edge off giving it 5 stars to be honest
