Central California Noir

Todd Morr has fast become one of my favorIte noir authors and now I will have to add Christopher Davis. This book contains novellas by both writers that contain everything I look for in noir.
Fast paced action, gritty writing, characters who are believable, stories that take your breath away, action that puts it foot to the pedal and never let’s up from beginning to end. Highly recommended.

This is only a review of half the book, for objectivity reasons I am only reviewing the "Setup" half of this ‘Double Shot of Noir’. Chris Davis pens the first half of this noir double feature and anyone familiar with his previous novella’s and short stories will not be disappointed (if you are not familiar, you are missing out). This story of big city mobsters travelling to the Central Coast to take care of some business has everything somebody would want in a crime story: great pace, good action, snappy dialog, colorful characters and few twists along the way. Want to get a taste of the darker side of the most underrated part of California, and have a good time doing it? You can’t do any better.
