This was not a substantive story. It is touted as a romantic suspense. While there was some lightweight suspense, I didn’t read any romance. Sure, John and Kara had sex, but romance was nonexistent. We are told about some of John’s background, none of Kara’s. Another male interest in the story is Marcus. But what is the purpose of introducing him into the story? I guess it’s an effort to add a red herring to the “suspense.” Well. what suspense, I ask? At any rate, the lame attempt failed in my estimation. Hence, Marcus’s character and role is obviously undeveloped and insignificant.

Moreover, Kara got on my last nerve. She’s like a revolving door. She is all over John, and then she isn’t. She ruminates about whether John is the one responsible for the injuries that landed her in a hospital in Italy? Yes? No? Maybe? Oh, I don’t know, but I love him she thinks. OK, let’s talk, then have sex. After we have sex, Then, let’s replay it all again shall we? Kara’s wishy-washiness is simply exhausting. Furthermore, all told, she’s a weak, indecisive woman. John is an OK guy, but he did nothing for me, essentially because his personality is never explored.

Finally, there are myriad editing issues that annoyed me. The plot line is a worthy one; however, I would scrap this book and try again. I am sorry this review seems harsh, but it is given as honest constructive criticism.

Salvation........ANNOYING N IRRITATING!!!!

This book has me seriously wondering about this author. This book had no real chemistry and the heroine was so freaking annoying I couldn't stand her. How does someone flop back and forth with such intensity with no forethought whatsoever. This book was so bad I couldn't even think about reading the other 1

No plot, no storyline, horrible dialogue, characters that were never developed, too many of dangling ends. A fashion writer is on vacation in Italy and gets mugged leaving a vineyard wine tasting. The vineyard owner takes her in for nearly 6 weeks and helps her recover from some very serious injuries. He likes her, she likes him, but he isn't forthcoming about somethings. Instead of asking John about these things and voicing her concerns, Kara constantly jumps to conclusions and runs away.

When I say she constantly demonstrates the maturity level of a 16 yr old I do mean CONSTANTLY! When she runs from Italy without telling him, after they are romantically involved, he travels to the US to get an explanation and to express his feelings. She calls him a stalker for wanting to know what happened! Eventually, they send a week together, after he explains away her crazy unfounded fears about him, but she later freaks out over something else and breaks off the relationship. This back and forth goes on for the entire book until (without explanation) they get a HEA and the misery that is this book comes to an end.

John's secrets were unnecessary and served no purpose in the book, Kara was just annoying, and reading this book was a total bore.

I like Nia Wilson but this book was just the...worse

I think this was an early attempt by the author because it feels less polished than many of her other books. The heroine was a dum-dum who kept assuming the worse about someone who had gone out of his way to help her over, what felt like, a hundred times before she finally trusted him. The end was abrupt like driving a car along a steady 55 MPH before suddenly choking up and stopping without warning on the side of the road. The good news is that I know this author can do better so I’ll read a few more things by her in order to give her another shot.

Drawn out

This book was OK but Kara was really annoying to me. She just kept jumping to conclusions and avoided people which was very immature. John wasn't anything special in my opinion and the "suspense" was anticlimactic and kind of ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend reading this one.
