Lindsey's Angel

Rate this book
Lindsey Downs grew up in the beautiful Cuyamaca Mountains of California. Her husband’s death had broken her; her life for the past eight years had been void of emotion. Her family and her job as a Park Ranger were the only things that had kept her going, but sometimes that wasn’t enough. The peaceful mountains had recently been tainted with a double homicide that occurred not far from her cabin. Lindsey knew there would be an investigation, but she never thought the handsome DEA agent would ask her to be his guide.

Angel Running Deer was working his last undercover assignment for the DEA. He wouldn't have taken the risks he did if he'd had a family. He had never been in a relationship with a woman, because his code wouldn’t allow it. Now he was ready to settle down and start a family, he just hoped it wouldn’t take ten years to find the right woman.

The sizzle they both felt upon their first handshake could not be denied. Angel is certain he’s found the perfect woman. Lindsey feels the connection, but has doubts about the possibility of finding love for a second time in her young life. Strong subplots.

I know this is a romantic suspense but there was very little suspense and a whole lot of romance. The relationships seemed to move way too fast from insta-love to engagement to pregnancy, and the dialogue didn't really flow well. There were also so many characters and I completely lost track of all of them. But I know that they have the same romantic plot as Lindsey and Angel, the main characters, and it all seemed very unrealistic. The action part of this story was very slow.

Lindsey's Angel

While I enjoyed the storyline and the characters I felt some of the dialogue was stilted. I still am looking forward to seeing what happened to the other characters.

This is amazing story that introduces so many wonderful characters and their amazing tales. Lindsey and Angel are our first couple. Lindsey lost her husband years ago to the war in Afghanistan and since then has been living a shell of a life. Hiding away on the mountain and keeping to herself and her ranger duties only interacting with her family. Angel is burned out. After years with the SEALs and then the DEA, he is ready to settle down and start a family. These two find comfort and peace in each other's arm but all relationships require trust and truth. Next is Devin and Jamie whom are too cute and perfect. Jamie is a shy and sweet little miss with a crush and a half on the quirky Devin, much to the chagrin of her father. But she is smitten with the boy and cannot be dismayed. Devin has been in love with Jamie forever. But here's the thing about Devin, he is super special. His intellect is off the charts, even if his social skills are lacking, and he is this country's greatest treasure. He must kept safe and secret at all cost. But he still deserves love and his handlers are determined to help him land his lady at all cost. Their love blossoms and grows in a way that can only be is described as a true HEA. Now we have Max and May. A little more complex this duo has the hurdle of past demons to conquer. May came to the sleepy mountain town with nothing but the clothes on her back and her backpack. Deaf and alone she is running from horrors that no one should have to have ever had faced. But she found a safe and loving place to call home and a calling in cooking. She is reasonably happy and content, but when she meets Max she is intrigued but leery. Max feels a strong desire to protect and defend the woman. He knows she needs a friend and is okay with filling the role even though he would like to be so much more to her. As the friendship between the two grows and trust is established May learns that Max is a man she can count on and wants more. They find happiness and comfort with each other, but Max will need to be patient in waiting for May to come to terms with past demons and fears to accept their bright future. Then we have Roman and Dee whom both have been cutting out the world. Dee has an ex that hurt her and she is still battling those mental scars. When she meets Roman she is cautious but knows that his alpha nature is the right kind and is willing to give him a shot. Roman has been less than active when it came to woman lately due to his last experience. A broken condom that lead to a possible child was not a problem in his eyes, but his lady friend skipping town without a trace and no word on whether or he was a dad is enough to put anyone off dating. But when Dee walks in he is helpless to avoid the pull of their chemistry. Their connection is instant and deep and is tested immediately when past ghosts threaten not only them but all of the residents on the mountain. Not to be forgotten is Joe and Sydney whom have been circling each other for years. Love has never been the issue, just Joe's job. Sydney has loved Joe but refuses to be a Navy wife or worse a Navy widow. Joe is adamant he is retiring and coming home to Sydney, but his statement sounds more like a order and Sydney is having none of it. Sounds like the pair are at an impasse for now. And let's not forget Cameron and Kim whom have been on one date and are so sweet they are going to give everyone cavities. Kim spent years focusing on her studies and waiting for the right sparks to entice her into dating and the handsome Cameron seems to be just the one to fit the bill. Cameron is intrigued by the beautiful innocent Kim and cannot believe she would be interested in someone like him. Only time will tell with these love birds. Last there is Tika awaiting misses right… maybe the Irish cousin ;). This world is rich and full of life. So worth exploring. Come join the gang. Can't wait for book 2!

Lindsey's Angel (Cuyamaca Mountain Series, #1)
was previously listed at
Beginnings (D.E.V.I.N. Series Book 1) by Katina Gavin
This was free on amazon.com and it is an ok read. 1 and half star.
The story line had promise, but it is a mess. Can not believe there are 5 books in this series and all the 5 star reviews.
Read at your own risk.
Explicit sex scenes, insta love, lots of babies, alpha males, a genius with autism disorder portrayed as a child in a man's body, lots of cardboard cliche characters who all hook up, suspense that goes nowhere, cheesy dialogue. Needs a good editor.

Sorry. Just not realistic

Out of an army of men I just find it way too hard to believe that all the name characters in this book are that sweet, sensitive and lucky enough to find love in a day or so.... and I felt like the reading level was for middle grade except the sex of course, and even that was odd I thought. Loved the plots and characters but just didn't find it to be realistic..

I really can't decide if I liked this book or not. I enjoy military romance but parts of this book quirky (or ridiculous) the parts about a young man that acts like 5 year old toddler one minute then like a man bit only when it comes to sec. I kept reading because it does make you wonder what silly thing will happen next. If you like an unusual story this is it. But if you not into silly then you might want give it a pass. Lindsey Angel is about 5 books rolled into pne.

Love the way she created all her characters!

The way each of the characters are you can feel how each of them are as she writes them. This book made me love them and how they grew with each page. It made me laugh and cry. This book is great. I don't want give anything away, I say just grab it and read it. 😀

Lindsey's Angel

This part one of a great story of three families with friends and how the mesh. There are a lot of personalities, relationships and babies involved. I could hardly put it down.

Multiple characters throughout the book.

Angel arrives and finds his soulmate and a quirky bunch of other characters due to the presence of DEVIN. Most of the characters 're involved in the care of DEVIN.

Pick a subject.

I loved the concept of this book, but it had to many things going on, and to many people. I haven’t read the rest of the series yet, but I hope they don’t jump around like rabbits in the rest of the books. P.S. You must love babies.

Enjoyable

This was a very interesting story. It keeps you on your toes all the time, but I love all the interaction of the characters and the suspense is not way out there.

Too many repetitions of scenario

This book had some interesting characters but only a few were developed. Others were distracting and didn't contribute to narrative significantly. The pattern 'meet, have sex, and become pregnant ',was repeated to the point of becoming ridiculous.
With further development this book could be worthy of continuation though because characters are interesting and situations are multifaceted.
