If you’ve ever dreamed of something more in life, this book is for you. Blitz Your Life is a collection of reflections from a former NFL linebacker on a life lived fearlessly and challenges from a man with a sense of urgency for impact.
These powerful stories range from Tim’s time on the football field to the radically different life and goals that resulted from his diagnosis with ALS in 2014. Tim also shares stories of ordinary people who have faced everyday challenges and accomplished extraordinary things. Whether they sweep floors or rebuild neighborhoods or make music, all are living lives that make a difference.
At times funny and others serious, Tim encourages readers to “write” their own goals and stories while pursuing their dreams. Through his “whiteboard challenges,” he provides practical help that takes readers on a road to success. From his NFL days to his support of ALS awareness, this fighter’s message is a courageous call to find and enjoy a life with purpose.
Tim gives you a greater appreciation for your life. Through his horrific diagnosis and slow degradation of physical condition the reader finds himself inspired to make the most of your life. If Tim can write a book with only his eyeballs telling me to attack life with everything in my heart, than I better do it.
I received this book as a Goodreads giveaway. This book gives good solid advice for achieving your goals while not being preachy or trite. Many great stories to inspire you of people who followed their passion in spite of adversity. This book really focused on discovering your passion.
Tim Shaw is an inspiration and his enlightening story changed my perspective of life for the better. Instead of taking ALS as a curse, he turns it into a blessing for others and himself. Every word in Tim's story serves a purpose: becoming a better person. After reading this, I now see the world differently. Tim encourages the reader to know that their battles are meant for them, and we should accept them for what they are, rather than what we want them to be. I recommend this book to readers of all ages, because we are never too young or old to see the world through a cleaner lens. *Thank you, Tim Shaw, JKS Communications, and Net Galley for a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review*
Tim Shaw is an inspiration. Fighting his way every step of the way and striving to uplift the world around him, despite being handed such tough setback as ALS, is quite a thing to admire. BLITZ YOUR LIFE is Tim Shaw's story. More than just his story, Tim writes about how to find out how a person wants to live their life and once found, how living out what they have found enriches the world around them. I always find it more interesting to read about the professional athlete who is more of the everyman within his given sport in relative terms. Yes, Tim Shaw was in the NFL, but he worked hard and struggled to be there year in and year out. He never had the job security of a star in the league. Shaw writes about his NFL career with a certain honesty and reverence, knowing that not many people every get that chance to get to where he was. Shaw uses examples of people who have challenged him to be better person to show how being successful in life is more than just money or status; its finding happiness in doing what you want (teach, make others happy, educate, etc). Shaw spends a lot of time talking about how the reader can break themselves down to the core of what they want, then each chapter delves into a step towards creating complete picture of what that person wants (whatever that is) and how to get there. Tim Shaw could inspire anyone. I laughed at times and fought back a tear or two as I read BLITZ YOUR LIFE. A book I will remember and be inspired by for a long time to come. Thank you to JKS Communications, Tim Shaw, and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
As someone who watched Tim grow up and become the warrior that he is, I'm just blown away by his still optimistic take on life. Read this book and be inspired! Tim, I think all of us in the tiny Clarenceville school district (in Livonia, MI) have been blessed to have you and you family in our midst. We're with you as you fight your hardest battle to beat ALS.
This is an odd memoir; odd in the sense that Shaw finds a way to make it not about him. It's Shaw's story, and yet it's your story to. He wants his story to influence those around him and those reading--and works. He has every reason to take ALS and be bitter and angry, and yet he finds away to turn the worst thing that's happened to him into a blessing. Well done!
I'm so glad Tim Shaw took the time to share his story and the stories of many other inspiring people that impacted his world. Many valuable tools given in this book that can be implemented in anyone's life. I'm encouraged to live my life more fully. And I will continue to pray for Tim and his family!
It is always interesting and inspirational to read a book from someone who has had to face such hardships in life, such as facing a terminal illness. Tim Shaw is very inspirational. I received this book as a give away from Goodreads. I have recently purchased two white boards to follow his methods of putting goals into writing. I cannot imagine what it is like to get a death sentence as a diagnosis, but he puts a positive outlook on life and the blessings he has been given and shares. God bless him and his family!
