I didn't realize there were other stories in this book...I just thought it was a long book. It wasn't what I expected looking at the cover. It was a "forbidden" romance between Gwyne, a fire chief's daughter and Sean, a new firefighter in his unit. But a lot of it focused on Gwyne's career as a reporter and her life in general. I kinda felt like it was all over the place. The story was good and the character development was pretty good, but I got to the second to last chapter (but didn't know it was so near the end) and thought the story was going to start a big new direction/theme in Gwyne's life. But then one more chapter in and the book ended. It was like the author was rushed into ending the book and it was thrown together in a few paragraphs. She spent more time on a tertiary character's sprained ankle than in how Gwyne & Sean ended up together. Very abrupt and disjointed ending compared to the rest of the book.
