В этом тв-эпизоде SAC хорошо пропечатана картинка “бездушной машины капитализма” и наличествует финал с налетом бессмысленности и бесполезности. Даже тщетности. Ну и недосказанность вписана на ура - например, о загадочном киллере так ничего особенного и не сообщают. Оно и не требуется, история вроде не об этом.

Манга же берет крутой разворот в сторону личной драмы и сосредотачивает все внимание на этом самом киллере, выписывая окружности вокруг ее бесконечных страданий. В ее нелегкую судьбу даже вникать не тянет, слишком она карикатурна, словно из раздела второсортных боевиков. Ее флэшбеки добавили страничного времени, но при этом опустили Section 9 и Кусанаги на уровень сострадательных монашек, что выслушают твою слезливую историю, посочувствуют (на свой лад), нарушат правила ради твоей сентиментальной привязанности, и все это при том, что ты киллер мирового масштаба и пять минут назад пытался прикончить всех в этом здании. Кусанаги (что живет в моей голове) не стала бы тормозить с выстрелом, и вырубила бы оппонента при первом проявлении слабости.

Бонусы: искупавшаяся в мусорке Кусанаги (как повод сменить наряд), любитель ток-шоу Тогуса, великий тролль Бато.
Бонусные бонусы: аж два выпуска с тачикомами, один из которых посвящен парочке Паз/Борма :D

This series continues to impress me. In this volume we had a revenge story with several twists.

As I've said in other reviews, I actually enjoy the Stand Alone Complex series much more than I did the original Ghost in the Shell manga.

Vol. 4 faithfully adapts the story from episode 14 “¥€$” of the anime TV series. It include two bonus short stories from the “Tachikoma Days” manga by Masayuki Yamamoto.

I am already a big fan of GITS and of cyberpunk stories, but I particularly like this manga series because it offers strong designs and art, excellent storytelling and constitute an easy read. It is quite enjoyable if you like investigative stories with lots of action (sometime quite violent), rich socio-political themes and that are set in a cyberpunk future. I must admit that it has been a long time since I took so much pleasure in the reading a manga. I highly recommend it.

The fourth in the series of Stand Alone Complex magna is an accurate retelling of episode 14, SA: Automated Capitalism. It also includes two shorts, from the perspective of Tachikomas. The main magna was faithfully rendered and tells the story very well. Especially well done was the fight scene between the Major and the assassin, Fem. The shorts, one basically about food, the other about overspecialized tanks in history were also well done and rather cute. I was pretty pleased with this overall.

I liked this better than the last volume - fighting someone with similar skill as major was cool and i liked seeing the life styles of the rich in this future. However, not sure what the message was about orphanages and capitalism is.
