“. . . and you’re listening to 91.3 FM.”

Justin knows three things for sure about DJ Dangerfield:

He has some questionable taste in music.
He always provokes Justin into ringing in.
And he might just be his favorite weekly distraction.

But who is this DJ Dangerfield in Real Life? And will Justin like him in the flesh as much as on the air?

Yay! One more down as I continue to work my way through my backlist of Anyta Sunday stories and, as usual, this one did not disappoint.

This short tells the tale of how, over the course of a year, two college guys begin falling in love -- initially without even laying eyes on one another.

Justin is approaching his five year anniversary with his girlfriend, Hannah, but would rather call into the late night radio show to fight with the DJ than make a move on the girl warming his bed.

Kane is crushing on a boy he's never even met, but calls into his radio show nearly every week to complain about Kane's questionable taste in music. But does he have the balls to come clean when he realizes that he's finally met 'his' Justin at school?

For the most part, this story was very low drama, with plenty of awkward flirtation, so it fully held my interest until the end.

And, as with many of Anyta's stories, this was not a sexy read; however, I didn't feel that those types of scenes were needed, or missing, here.

Overall, it was a light, feel-good read, so I'd rate it at around 3.75 stars and recommend it if you're looking for a quick 'filler' story between heavier reads.

verbal constipation porn.

description

why tell anybody anything when you can stare longingly at them, instead?

the whole story is two boys who are too chicken to speak the truth at one another finding excuses to expertly not resolve their sexual tension.

if that's your fetish, this is the book for you.

me, i was legit ready to kill someone by the time fucktard A kept fucktard B hanging for a whole weekend waiting to hear if his feelings were returned.

by the time they decided to adjourn the long-awaited conversation to resolve this idiotic situation—in favor of playing a game of laser tag with the bros, as you do—i was ready to kill myself.

absurd.

A cutie. A super sweet NA short featuring two lovely guys who will make you smile and sight. Totally Anyta Sunday’s style and very in the line of Noticed Me Yet?, another short that I loved.
I need this kind of stories in my life, they drive me to that happy place where everything shines and makes you smile. Where you forgot your problems for a while, putting what is bothering you in a drawer, for later, just wanting to live your book’s life. In this case, DJ Dangerfield and Justin’s love story. Their kindness and cuteness. Two college guys meeting each other through a radio program. Their sleepless nights, their troubles, turmoiling feelings and thoughts and all of this packed in no more than 65 pages. This is a super feel good read, so nice and sexy that I can’t recommend it highly enough.

You can find it as a stand-alone or in Briefs: Collection (a collection of shorts by Anyta Sunday). Read it and put a smile in your face! Sometimes it’s all we need to have a better day.

Okay, so I know that gif is kinda sorta creepy- but this short was like getting a book hug. The feelzzzzzz this left me with... *swoon*

For being such a short story, this had me reading with a dopey grin from its fleshed out and oh so likable characters, unique story, and their self discovery. The angst is pretty low but DJ Dangerfield and Justin have some complications to sift through.

Imagine you listen to the same radio station and call in to talk/banter/disagree with the DJ every night for a over a year. Then think about the connection and feelings that develop for someone you've never met and the trepidation on possibly ruining the magic by finally meeting? That's this story.

It was SO. FREAKIN'. ADORABLE.

Sex plays a very minor part in this short which was perfect. I didn't need sex to feel the chemistry and connection these characters were working with. Once again, Anyta can make me fall in love with the worlds she builds and the amazing characters that navigate them. *dreamy sigh*

Una monada de short perfecto para cuando estás entre lecturas más complicadas y necesitas desconectar. De todos los shorts que tiene Anyta, Noticed me yet? es mi favorito, pero este no se queda muy lejos.
Recomendable.

Boy oh boy, did I need that! I've been in quite the slump, but this was just the perfect blend of sweet with some spice. I loved it, not a friends to lovers story in the original sense, but still has that vibe.

I was lucky enough to get to read this before release publication, which means by my code I can't rate it. But I can say it's completely adorbs! Anyta does sweet, well-written romances like no-one else. For when you need a satisfying single-sitting treat.

Cute, sweet, and almost YA except that the last chapter takes it out of that territory. There is a bit too much noncommunication and I'd have liked to see a little anger at some moments of overstepping. But this writer's style always makes me smile, and this was no exception.

Justin is a 21 year old college undergrad who spends his sleepless nights tuning in to 91.3 FM, regularly succumbing to his urge to phone-in and banter with DJ Dangerfield over his taste in music.

After doing this for almost a year, Justin wonders what it would be like to meet his on-air partner, as he slowly realises that his weekly highlight now lies solely in the conversations he shares with this often agitating, but always entertaining, disembodied voice at the end of the line.

I really enjoyed this new adult M/M novella - no surprises there, as Anyta Sunday always provides the goods when it comes to her plot-lines, characters and writing, which has an easy-to-read and addictive quality prevalent in every book I've encountered to date. So, yeah, this was another win for me in the Anyta sweepstakes.

P.S. I love the new cover art!

By now, I should know that Anyta is the only capable of getting me out of my book slump. Even, if it is for a short amount of time. Her short stories are the sweetest -and sometimes the hottest- thing ever.

Justin and DJ Dangerfield (lol, that name has me giggling every time I read it) have been talking by phone around a year and they obviously have a crush on each other even if they don't accept it at first.

Geez, I love it. Just what I needed to make me smile. So, so, perfect. Splendid writing, gorgeous story, and great characters. Anyta did not even let me wanting more of this story because she wrapped it up pretty well.

This is a fun read.

Justin listened, called and complained to a late night radio program for about two years. He listened because he had been listening to the program for very long, and the music was in general his preference. He liked the previous host, but not the current one since this one liked to play music from one band he loathed. And the host did it regularly. Hence, the numerous complaints to the host, DJ Dangerfield, every time he called, which was every week. And he did it religiously; so much that the host and other listeners expected to hear his complaint each time they tuned in to the program.

Justin also took philosophy classes for his college degree. One of the classes required a debate, and for that he needed a tutor. When his regular tutor was unavailable one week, he was substituted by Kane, a fellow graduate student. They liked each other, and put some efforts to meet outside the tutorial time.

Meanwhile, DJ Dangerfield challenged Justin to meet in person. Unfortunately, when the time came, the DJ did not show up. Leaving Justin alone in the cafe shop...

I really liked reading this. Fun and sweet, although didn't fall into toothache category.

I have not read many stories by Anyta Sunday (5 stories are not many, right?) but I could definitely say that " DJ Dangerfield " is one of my favorites. I think it is because of the straight-up adorable romance.

Rather similar to Noticed Me Yet?, this has a 'mystery' on who DJ Dangerfield really is. However, unlike that one, it doesn't take a lot of time for Justin to guess the identity of the DJ -- so it doesn't feel like it is dragging. I'm happy that Justin also confronts DJ Dangerfield when he stood Justin up when they decided to meet; it stopped it from being too melodramatic.

Another thing that I like is the fact that Anyta never goes with the 'bitchy' ex-girlfriend path, that stops the two men from being together. I am happy that Hannah and Justin stay as friends -- that their break up is, well, mutual in a way. I am tired of reading how females are the villains theme, so kudos for that.

The sex scene in the ending is pretty good and I think the love declaration is totally cute. It's an easy light reading, and just the right length for between novels.

PS: I actually went Googling for "Tepid Creek" music -- and feel bummed that it's actually a fictional band!

I assume this charming little novella must have been the forerunner of/the 'spark' behind the absolutely adorable Leo Loves Aries....[and if you read it, you'll surely come to the same conclusion as I did]; but that's not to say that I didn't enjoy it, cos I really did!! Kane and Justin reminded me so much of Leo and Jamie....or I suppose that should really be the other way around as DJD was originally published in 2013....whatever, enjoy!!

3.5 stars (2nd read; former rating: 3 stars)

A pleasurable book.

It's the second book that I read by Anyta Sunday and at the moment I think about her work like "relaxing reading for stressful times."

There's a sensation that I have in respect of both books and is that they have a laid-back undertone. We'll see if when I read some more books by her this repeats at the point of thinking about said undertone like her trademark.

The writing style is pleasant and clear, and the story reads in a jiffy.

I tolerate without problems the feeling of "I already read this" if the theme attracts me and it's well-written. But while I was reading DJ Dangerfield I couldn't avoid thinking that it looked similar to Taboo For You, the parallelism becomes very strong in what does to the characters's treatment:

I should say that even though I liked a lot all these characters I expect to see more versatility in other books of Ms. Sunday.

This is why I love Anyta Sunday! In all her works, I get to appreciate the romance build-up such that when you reach the peak, you get to savor the sweet turnaround in the relationship between MCs. Like when you work hard on something and you get to reap the fruit of your toil. More than that, Anyta Sunday has this ability to make you feel included in the whole journey. You feel the MCs' frustrations, happiness, and longing as well. It's this ability to make you feel part of the whole process -- the inclusion -- that really sets Anyta Sunday apart from other authors of today.

This was a really short read, I think I read it in less than an hour. It's an M/M college novella and it was seriously cute.

I love Anyta Sunday's writing. She creates believable, adorable characters and her chemistry sizzles off the page.

DJ Dangerfield was such a fun book and did exactly what I wanted by taking my mind off reality and cheering me up after a pretty bad day.

3.5 HEA-guaranteed stars from me!

Okay, this was just...marvelous!
I'm a sucker for Anyta's stories and this was no exception.

I was slightly concerned this wasn't going to go the way I had hoped...but in the end, I had no reason to worry.
I adore self-discovery books and this one did not disappoint.

Short and sweet and the perfect way to start my New Year!

This one is awesome. :D It's really sweet, well-written and quick to read, which is also nice for a change. I also really like the cover, it's not that typical m/m book with one or two muscular, good-looking half-naked guy(s), who all kinda look the same... No, it's really cool and fitting and interesting.
