Eliza Taye has always had an insatiable desire for stories of any kind, whether they be books, audiobooks, video games, films, or plays. If it has a story element to it, she enjoys it. After obtaining a marine science degree, she became inspired to write sci-fi in addition to the fantasy stories she wrote growing up. Two material things Eliza could never live without: books and music. She never leaves the house without at least one book and a way to listen to music. Music fuels her passion for storytelling, allowing her to daydream that she’s defeating bad guys, exploring unknown worlds, or wielding swords of destiny, when in reality, she’s just writing about it. She writes sci-fi, fantasy, and action adventure novels for young adults.
I enjoyed reading this book. It lured me in with the excitement of exploring an unknown underwater world with its futuristic advances in technology. Add to that a bit of danger that makes this book hard to put down. I would definitely recommend this book if your looking for a great adventure.
Eliza Taye takes us on an adventure of discovery and love in Oceana! In the year 2276, the world has been decimated by disease and climate change prompting the creation of an elite underwater colony called Oceana, but not everyone is welcome there. That is until one day Allie, a teen girl from land, meets a boy from Oceana and begins exploring the city, potentially to dire effects. I love the sense of discovery in this book and Taye’s message that friendship and love can transcend the borders of class! Oceana was a fun read, the journey of which I hope continues so I can take another dive in the turbulent seas of our future!
I was impressed with the thought and research that went into creating an underwater city 200 years in the future. Ms. Taye had answers for many questions I might not even had thought of concerning how life might be then. She also showed us a love for creatures of the ocean, both near the shore and in the depths. The story had suspense, and throughout I was hoping all would work out well for the main characters. I highly recommend it for any who like an uplifting, educational, adventure story.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought it was very interesting and well-researched. I especially loved how educational it was about sea creatures. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a clean, fun adventure set in the future.
I did enjoy this story! An interesting YA adventure in an unstable dystopian world! A really brilliant idea, nicely done. It does lean towards the younger side of things I felt, but over all a good fun read!
