Kinky Resolutions and other New Year's Disasters

Rate this book
I'm the play-it-safe girl next door. And my neighbor is Cooper Bentley, catcher for the Yankees and all-around alpha-hole ... or so I thought.

When he comes over to fix my leaky sink--not a euphemism, unfortunately--he finds my list of New Year's Resolutions.

And also my Google search history.

Deep down I want to try something new. I'm not a virgin, but the sex I've had is vanilla.

Now Cooper knows my naughty side ... and he makes me a new list.

My Kinky Resolutions.

Suddenly ball gags, threesomes, and fetishes are all I can think about.

When Cooper offers to be my sex guru there's no turning back.

This new year is going to start with a bang. Literally.

3.75 Kinky Stars

With chapter titles like “One Tinder Swipe, Two Shady Texts, and a Threesome,”“Rabbits, Cucumbers, and FaceTime, (Oh My!),” and “Sex and other Forms of Public Humiliation,” I knew I was going to be in for a great time! As of right now, this is the only book I have read by this author. I am going to have to rectify that immediately, because I enjoyed it so much! When I picked this up, I was hoping for something fun, light, and sexy, and that’s exactly what I got!

With her graduate-level research paper titled What Happens When Women Take Charge of Their Sexuality being the only thing standing between Gracie and her college graduation, the fact that she has never even had a proper orgasm becomes somewhat problematic. She vows to spice up her sex life by making a list of kinky resolutions to complete in the new year. When her neighbor and major league baseball star, Cooper, offers to help with her endeavor, she gladly accepts.

“I swallow, knowing that if I was ever going to have a chance to go all in… this was my time. Cooper Beckett, Mr. Yankee, was literally offering me a year of his sex-pertise. I’d be insane to say no.”

They made some ground rules, such as, they are still free to date whomever they want, Cooper is in charge of deciding the order in which they complete the list and when and how they do it, and Gracie can’t ask any questions about it beforehand. So begins their kinky and sometimes comical journey to help Gracie break free from the chains of sexual repression.

“Oh, my god.”
“Relax,” he tells me, running a hand up and down my thigh.
“Your face is up in my ass, Cooper. How can I calm down?”
“Your ass is perfect,” he says, tugging me lower, so I am literally sitting on his face.

Gracie is a shy, reserved, introvert that enjoys quiet nights at home to going out with friends. I had to admire the way she found something she didn’t like about herself and set out to change it no matter how far out of her comfort zone she had to go to do it. I mean, the whole thing went against the very nature of who she was, but she committed to it. That’s one thing you will learn about her very quickly; Gracie never does anything half-assed.

Cooper is such an easy guy to fall in love with. He is funny, sexy, cocky, and all male. More importantly, he is so caring, encouraging, supportive, and respectful that it will warm your heart. He always tries to make sure Gracie is comfortable no matter what, and focuses on her enjoyment rather than his. It is easy to see from the beginning that Cooper cares about more than Gracie’s body.

“You like that, Gracie, don’t you?”
“Mmhhmm. I want to touch you too.” I look down again, his cock so hard, so ready.
“No, Gracie. Tonight, there is one goal. To get you off.”

I had such a great time reading this book! The story is incredibly entertaining with a healthy dose of humor topped with a few heartfelt moments that will keep a smile on your face. The main characters are likable, the sex is hot, and the writing will have you hooked from the very first page.

Kinky Resolutions and Other New Year’s Disasters is the perfect book to read when you want to escape life for a little while. It’s not too serious or too angsty; it’s just a light, fluffy, steamy good time. Everybody needs books like these on hand, especially in the month of December when you are dealing with all of that holiday stress. So, grab this book, pour yourself a glass of wine, kick up your feet, and enjoy!

I enjoyed this one. It was really humorous and fairly light-hearted. The foursome scene had me LMAO. Both characters were likable in their own right. A manwhore Baseball player and a geeky straight-laced introvert. It was a cute combo. I HATED Bridget, she was an awful BFF in my opinion. *lol*

description

That said, the lack of communication between them drove me up the wall. I was yelling JUST F-ING TALK already to my tablet on more than one occasion. The book was also very time-jumpy in they would be together then not see each other for months. Rinse and repeat over the course of the year the book takes place in. The ending felt rushed as well and with no epilogue it left me feeling a little letdown. This really would have benefitted from an extra "in the future" chapter.

Overall, despite my issues, the humor carried this one and I ended up enjoying it. So one and a half thumbs up from yours truly.

First time I've read this author, and I must say this ended up being quite a refreshment on a very well known "friends to lovers" theme...

Gracie is a „two-goodie shoes“ kinda girl but only on the outside, she's just been kinda out of luck and „dry“, when dealing with guys. She's a Social studies major grad student with her final paper, on a sexual liberation of women due… and literally…she's stuck with a ton of research and none of her own experiences and something in her needs to break free…so she makes her New Year Kinky List of 7 things she needs to experience if she wants to know what she's talking about and suddenly things take a surprising turn…cause

Cooper Bentley – a catcher for the NY Yankees stepped in...
My across-the hall neighbor Cooper. Cooper with his golden eyes and dark auburn hair, all wavy and long. Cooper with his perpetual stubble and his slow, mid-west accent…

The one thing she didn't expect was her neighbour and friend to jump on bord so eagerly in helping her out with her list, which he changed into a „real kink deal“ list. If she wants to experience the real thing, she needs to do it right.
The paper is pretty much exploring the Kinky List…what happened to a woman when she decided to take charge of her sexuality

What she didn't expect is to explore more than her sexuality, as things get further on into the emotional zone…an area they both feel unsure of…cause well…why would he be with her when he could have any woman…
Cooper is one of those alpha-holes. He's the prototype and carbon copy all rolled into one.

BUT Gracie couldn't be more wrong about the latter. Cooper is not what the hawt athletic body and sexy swagger and talk indicate and he's in it for the long run. And when they actually start to engage the things on Gracie's list, there's this whole new uncharted territory for both of them, intertwined with funny, sassy, sexy banter, some awkwardly hilarious moments as well as the scorching steamy carnal ones…
Together we are a sweaty wreck of pleasure and pain, a misunderstood safety net that catches us both by surprise. We don't talk our shit out, but we do fuck until our bodies shake, until our minds forget until our hearts beat in a steady rhythm of unspoken desires.

And when the one year „sexcapade of mild kinky sexual liberation“ is nearing its end, Cooper and Gracie start to fret about the emotions that crept up on them both. And when suddenly Gracie is shocked by the newest revelation, Cooper will reasure her that they were always „more“, even when they weren't aware of it.
When I commited to the Kinky List, Gracie, i commited to you.

“Then we need to do number eight.“
„There was no number eight on the Kinky List, Cooper.“
„True, but there is one thing we haven't done yet.“
„What's that?“
„Gracie, you and I, have never made love.“

Awww…shmucks

I really liked this story. There was nothing revolutionary about it - on the matter of subject, the same ol'„friends to lovers“ trope,a bit of stubborness and then acknowledgment of those undeniable "feels" between the two main characters and yet the „fresh“ approach in storytelling filled with humor, both in dialogue and situations , simply won me over.

I think I know what first attracted me to this one. Something about the title/premise reminded me of two totally different books that I really enjoyed. But it turns out, I don’t think this story is like either of them. So maybe my expectations were just off or maybe at this time of the year my patience is just low, but I just couldn't get into this one despite picking it up different times.

My failure to connect lies a lot with the characters and specifically the presentation of Cooper as a player/manwhore. While, by far, he’s nowhere near as bad as a few I’ve read, he still rolled off with inner thoughts like…
“I’ve had a lot of pussy. Probably more than my fair share. It’s always been easy, getting laid.”

And then there was my difficulty seeing Cooper and Gracie as a couple. No doubt that issue rests with the tired trope of h sees H with other woman and knows his usual MO but still wants him. Granted, in this instance she doesn’t thankfully see them in the act, but the h knows the H’s style (last Valentine’s Day’s day he had two dates—one a “backup” when the other got sick) and when the reader first meets him, he’s coming home with a sexy blonde model who the h knows he’s going to have “wild sex” with in his apartment across the hall. That kind of opening scene can be such a roadblock when it comes to envisioning the H and h together. And maybe that’s why their first sexual encounter so early in the book didn’t make me feel the connection or chemistry that they apparently felt. Because till that moment, they’ve been neighbors for 3 years and nothing has happened between them all while he’s “brought home dozens of women.”

So my hope for 2017 is that there's less of this type of characterization for heroes in the romance market alongside a stronger focus on helping the reader connect with the H&h as a couple from the very beginning. Because if the H’s past is really in the past, why do we need to have details or references to it???

Kinky Resolutions was a fun, quick and hot read, I curled up with it on a lazy Sunday and was finished within a couple of hours.

Cooper and Gracie are neighbors in an apartment building in New York City, she thinks he’s a manwhore, and he thinks she a prude. Together they come up with a list of New Year’s resolutions…of the kinky variety and make a pact to fulfill every item on the list before the end of the year, together.

This book made me laugh, and I’m not talking about a lady-like giggle, I’m talking about full-on snort laughing like a 12-year-old boy! There were so many funny and inappropriate moments that blended together to make this story one huge giggle-fest.

Gracie and Cooper had some real chemistry, but they were both too afraid to admit that for them the list had taken second place to feelings. Being told from dual POV really helped clear this up, and made for a better understanding of exactly what was going on inside both of their heads.

My only complaint is that the book was on the short side, I wanted more….but then again, isn’t that the way all readers feel when we love a book? -Tamara, 4 Stars

Frankie Love sure knows how to write books that make you ridiculously hot under the collar. Kinky Resolutions was insanely HOT! Oozing with sexual tension that sparked the deepest of internal fires!

I fell in lust and then love with Cooper and Grace. These two just scream connection. Scream greatness. Scream togetherness. Everything about them and their individual lives blended to make them one hell of a couple. I loved both characters naivety and inexperience. I loved the spark they lit in each other and how uplifting they were.

Kinky Resolutions is a book that is so easy to get lost in, the pace of the story moves quickly but it flows and is so easy to follow and love. The sexy parts are incredibly sexy and the lovey parts are oh so swoony! Frankie nailed this story and definitely gives a new meaning to New Year Resolutions!

OMG this book is all things hilarious and dirty hot! I couldn’t put the book down, I was so caught up in the story and the hilarity that occurs throughout the pages! Cooper is Gracie’s sexy baseball player bad boy neighbor. But he opens her eyes to experiences she hasn’t yet gone through. And let me tell you when you aren’t dying of laughter you will be fanning yourself from the sheer heat that pours from the pages! This is the first book I’ve read by Frankie, but after reading this book I will say it won’t be my last!

I re-listened to this because my first review sucked. It's really funny and kinda cute but definitely lacking sex, so don't let the description and cover fool you.

Gracie (virgin, women's lit student or something like that) wants to lose her virginity and also needs to write a paper on helping women be more sexual (basically). She decides to make a list of all the kinky sex things she wants to achieve. Her sexy neighbor, Cooper (pitcher for the Yankees) ends up at her apartment to fix a leaky faucet (not a code for sex). He finds her list and volunteers to teach her all she needs to know about sex and being kinky. Cooper, despite having multiple sexual partners, is actually very vanilla, and hasn't experienced most of the things on Gracie's list. They spend the next year completing that list.

In the first minute of the book, she says, "I may not be a virgin, but I am certainly sexually repressed for a 23-year old." um..... Isn't this entire book supposed to be about a virgin?? Why yes - yes it is. So the book starts out COMPLETELY WRONG. I was like what the hell!!!! I don't know how I didn't catch that the first time around. Another annoying part is after each sexual meeting, they spend about a month apart, without talking/texting/or anything of that nature. Hard to build a relationship when they see each other so little and don't communicate at all.

We also have that trope where they both want more in the relationship, but both assume the other person doesn't want it, and both are too chicken to put themselves out there and tell the truth.

Cooper is super adorable for the most part. Gracie doesn't really get on my nerves except for the fact that she keeps being friends with Bridget, despite the fact that Bridget is a serious b!tch. Nobody should put up with a friend that is as shitty as that. I would have told her to fock off a long time ago.

The book is more funny than sexy. Some parts had me crying from laughing. There actually isn't much sex at all. The first sex scene is lackluster and leaves a lot to be desired.

Biggest issue?? Their experiences are cut off without resolution. When he takes her virginity - it just ends. We don't get anything about them going back to the apartment or what happens after they have sex. They just end and go a month without seeing each other or talking. Then there's the SUPER hilarious encounter that just ends right in the middle of it. We never get to find out what happened!! Did they leave the scene and go home? Did they have sex? (that answer is no). It was really freaking irritating!!! Plus, it makes the idea of them "falling in love" less believable.

Overall, I liked the funny parts and I wish there were more sex parts.

AUDIO Both narrators are pretty good. The only issue is the female narrator has an O voice that makes your ears bleed. Both fortunately and unfortunately, there are only two times when she has an orgasm and we hear it.

I hate leaving a 1 star review without, at least, trying to offer an explanation. I am truly confused. After reading all the other 4 & 5 star reviews, I'm wondering just what I read. I even went back and made sure that what I thought I read is actually there...that I didn't just miss something. The first glaring mistake was on the first page. Gracie, the h, says that she's not technically a virgin but she is certainly sexually repressed...and then the entire rest of the book she's referred to as a virgin. Being a virgin isn't something that you can almost be or almost aren't. You either are or you're not. It's a bit like pregnancy that way, you know? Then the H takes her virginity in a dirty alley, nearly getting arrested in the process. Way to go! That's how every girl wants to lose her V-card.

And, I had other issues. Several times in the book a scene seems to suddenly stop, nearly in the middle of it. And, you don't really find what happened in the scene until later in the book when Gracie relives it. Very annoying. Editing was a problem too. I've read a lot of this author's work and enjoyed it on a certain level. Her writing can sometimes be a little sophomore-ish but it hasn't ruined my enjoyment. This book just seemed very disjointed and confusing. I seldom do this but I'm actually returning this book to Amazon. It's not worth the 99 cents I paid for it.

WOW what a book: funny, romantic and so worth reading! Gracie is a shy, fairly inexperienced college girl, majoring in Women's Studies and her professor has assigned her to do a paper about What Happens When Women Take Charge if Their Sexuality. After she ends up spending New Year’s Eve alone, Gracie starts making a list of ways to take charge of her own sexuality and use her own experiences for her paper!

In walks Cooper, her sexy as hell neighbor who happens to be the catcher for the NY Yankees. As luck would have it Cooper sees Gracie's list and not only starts to spice/kink up the list, he decides he’s going to be the one to help her. But with one condition: he’s in charge. He picks the when, the where and what order they check the items off the list!

What follows is a wild ride for both of them! What’s on the list? Will Gracie really be able to do this? 2 Thumbs Up for this awesome com-rom that you do not want to miss out on!

Cooper is a charming, hunky, professional baseball player who secretly lusts after friend and neighbor Gracie. When he sees her list of kinky New Year's resolutions, he volunteers to help make them reality. Gracie eagerly takes him up on his offer all the while telling herself it's just sex. The story plays out over the course of a year that is dotted with some misunderstandings and time apart. The story has a great HEA and I loved it even if I wanted to knock some sense into both Cooper and Gracie for not being honest with each other. Frankie Love is an awesome writer.

The Baseball player next door and the list maker

I love this book so much! Gracie and Cooper make the perfect pair! Funny, fan your face sexy, with an absolutely heartstring-tugging, give me more, kind of romance unfolding story that keeps glued to this sexy beast throughout! My second was time reading this book, and I have to say I love it just as much if not more than the first time around!

Update: Since this was re-released as "His Kinky Virgin" with the extended epilogue, I am much happier with where this story leaves off. Gracie and Coops story felt slightly unfinished, but now it's complete. Fantastic story Frankie!! I liked this story. I wish it was a little longer. It's a nice medium between sticky sweet and down and dirty. Good job Frankie!

WOW, to say Frankie Love has done it again seems so inadequate but she has done it again.

Gracie is a somewhat introvert but wants to discover her own sexuality but afraid to put herself out there much to the chagrin of her best friend, Bridget. She devours the romance books that have virginal heroine's in lieu of writing her research paper for her women's study graduate degree.

Cooper is the catcher for the NY Yankees and is the prototype of those alpha-holes and carbon copy all rolled into one, or so Gracie thinks.

This book starts out so innocent with a neighbor just wanting to help out a neighbor (chuckle) discover The Sex Kitten Within.
While Cooper thinks he is not good enough for Gracie she in turn thinks he only sees her as his across the hall neighbor.

While Cooper is helping Gracie with her list of Kinky Resolutions she imagines him being with a different woman every night while on the road for training and games but she is way off base as his best friend and teammate, Gage, knows and although he encourages Cooper to just come out with it and tell her the truth about his feelings, Cooper thinks he is seeing and hearing things that mean he is just being used by her.

This book is sweet, funny and steamy with the most beautiful HEA I have read in a long time.
If you are looking for a book to make you smile, cry and bang your head at the same time, you really need to read this one.

Frankie, thank you for showing me yet another side of your creative mind.
I gave this book 5 stars because 10 was not an option.

I can easily relate to Gracie in this book cause I am considered a plain Jane to all and if this was me with these NYR I might just end up feeling like she did. This was so out of her OCD league that is was funny.
Grace is and OCD freak with lists and all. Her BF, Bridget is completely opposite of her. She tries many times to pull her out of her comfort zone, but I think she did it too extreme for Grace to work up the nerve to get out more.
Cooper is a hot baseball player and Gracie's neighbor. Though they talk and have a friendship they are two completely opposite people and he is kinda a man you know what. He goes to fix her leaky sink (no really) and sees her NYR list and google searches. Hilarious! He offers to help her out. Lucky girl you! haha
Their plan is going according to the list and going quite smooth or is it? We see a side of Cooper that the outside world does not see nor does he show it to Grace. Never judge a book by its cover could not be more true in Cooper's case. He was not like he was portrayed to be.
The New Year's started with a bang for Grace and Cooper can it go out with a bang? The disasters that occur in here are hilarious and hot all rolled into one. These two are stubborn and hard headed and the ending leaves you satisfied though. So cute when you read Cooper's outburst! Heart will swoon especially after knowing how stubborn they both are. I want a Cooper even a mini one will do.

3.5/5 Stars!

I really liked this book. I really did. It was funny and light-hearted. I thought it was a fun take on the “let’s make a sex list and check things off” trope.

Gracie and Cooper were both great characters. The best friends? Not so much. Bridget, Gracie’s bestie, was really holding Gracie back. She griped and complained that Gracie never did anything and got all butt hurt when Gracie wouldn’t go out with her. Gabe, Cooper’s best friend, was kind of a stick in the mud. Supportive but not supportive.

See, how this is all over the place? Well, sometimes that’s how I felt reading the book. The book takes place over a year. After the second thing they check off the list, Cooper is developing feelings for Gracie and I think she is, too, but it’s a bit unclear, because, honestly, for as smart as Gracie is, she is a bit on the flaky side. They do end up checking everything off the list and there is an HEA, which is a bit rushed. Speaking of rushed. Gracie goes from 0 to 100 in terms of her sexual prowess and proclivities, which over a year, I could understand, but not when she and Cooper are separated for months at a time.

Remember, I read with an overly critical eye, so I tend to nitpick. Overall, it was an entertaining read with lots of spicy sex and witty banter, great main characters and some seriously outrageous scenes.

4.5 Amazing Stars! Cooper is the catcher for the New York Yankees and is very much a typical alpha male. Gracie wants to discover her sexuality and she is discovering new things while writing her paper for her graduate degree. Cooper and Gracie are neighbors and he ends up helping her with her list of Kinky Resolutions. Cooper has strong feelings for Gracie but he thinks she is just using him. Will Cooper and Gracie realize that they both have feelings for each other? The author writes a well-written story that is steamy, funny, and sweet all rolled up together. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and felt what the characters were going through. This is the first book I've read by Ms. Love and I will definitely be looking for more of her books to read more. This is a Must-Read book and you should definitely one click it!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.

This was a fun read from Frankie Love. I always enjoy her books but this one had some terrific humor intertwined with the characters. Both Cooper and Grace are extremely likable and I was rooting for them to work through the entire story. I like the premise of the story - Grace working her way through her new years list of kinky activities. It was fun watching Cooper try to come up with ways to achieve them all. All in all, I thought the book was sweet, funny, steamy and had a terrific HEA for these characters.

Funny, sexy an a touch of romance.
Kinky Resolutions starts with Cooper, completely alpha baseball player, helping out Gracie by fixing her sink. While there he finds her New Year's resolution list and decides he's just the man to help her.
As he guides her through a whole new sexual world you'll laugh, which is just what was needed in this book. The heat level is high with plenty of steam and though Cooper wasn't the most likable for me initially he certainly made up for it.

Sevmedim.

I wanted to like this couple so much but they kind of fell flat for me. I couldn't connect with either of them mostly because I thought the female lead was really whiney, and the male lead was a shameless man-whore. There was a huge lapse of time throughout the course of the book and that is never something I enjoy. I feel that if the characters were able to live their lives without much thought of the other for that long then they were never that attached and won't be. I also happened to hate the female lead's best friend! She was so toxic and hateful towards the female lead and then the best friend gets praised for her behavior. I kept wishing that the best friend would get her just desserts but instead she got a happy ending, maybe even happier than the female lead. This is just one of those times when a secondary character can pretty much ruin an entire story because they're so awful. Despite my disappointment, I gave this story three stars because it was a great idea that intrigued and entertained me for awhile.

My best Frankie Love story to date!!!

I absolutely loved this!!! Gracie+Cooper, both with their pre-conceived notions as to what the other thought about the other. It was almost frustrating (i hate books where the couple basically have the big fight because they are not communicating-which these two did but they ultimately made up).

I would just have loved an epilogue. It ended in such a they-lived-happily-ever-after vibe that sort of irked me. I wanted to see their relationship months/years later when

The book was basically about Gracie+Cooper both helping each other to reach their sexual uplifting, but both carrying hidden feelings for each other. I loved the chapter titles, I especially loved the Tinder chapter, the smut was hot and the humour, though at first, as Cooper is described as the neighbour, Gracie was too quick to give up her list.

I would also have liked a story for Bridget+Gabe.

When Gracie needs to expand her sexual being for a paper that she needs to write in order to get her masters degree. When she has done nothing in her life sexually there's no where to go but up. She starts a kinky list. With the Kinky list she has her neighbor Cooper come in to help with her broken leaky sink, he says he'll help her with the list. Mind you Cooper is the catcher for the New York Yankees, and the hottest bachelor in New York City! Cooper is not the most experienced like he says he is but she doesn't know that. Now they go through this list and both are thinking it is only for the list, bu what happens when feelings start to develop? What happens with the paper? What happens when she captures the heart of the most sought out bachelor.

I listened to this on Spotify, and the voicing was okay but it also made the book so much funnier at points with the audio though. This story is a 150 pages, so a short novella. It is a great fun light hearted story. I really enjoyed this little world for the time I spent in it. I love the sport aspect to it too, having to work around the baseball schedule to fill and do the list.
