Yet another POS masquerading as an H. Yet another h pimped out by all the secondary characters to accept the slime swiller back cause she was so mean to him and he was so hurt.

Srsly? What a waste of my time and what a weak coprophagic excuse for a male. She needed to move on and move up and he needed a toilet seat to the head. He really should have stuck with the town skank, that is about all he was worth.

So the story in a nutshell -

The h and H are high school sweeties who build a life together afterwards. They share a house they co own and an engagement. Until the H's brother dumps the h's sister to be a rock musician and bang many women.

The H decides he is missing out and dumps the h to bang many women too. Except they have a shared house, so the h accepts the engagement ending but asks that the H not bring home the ladies to bang until they get the house situation resolved. The H agrees.

Then he proceeds to bring home the town bike - who is blackmailing the H for money cause she claims that she slept with the H's father AND brother and had the father's child and if the H doesn't pay up AND pretend to date her, then she is going to spill the beans to the H's mum - who is fragile and can't handle the truth.

So the H gets promptly drunk with said bike and brings her home to bang in the room right next to the h with very thin walls. The h leaves, as you do in that situation. The next morning the H is all whiney and begging the h not to go. She says see ya and leaves for another city . Leaving the H to whine and feel sorry for his sad, tacky self. Theoretically it isn't cheating cause they are broken up, but the H sees no reason that the h can't continue to wait on him and adore him as his discarded woman should.

The h shows the last bit of great good sense she will have and leaves town.

Years later, a reconciliation between the H and h occurs, it is twue lurve and they have been pining. But then, the town bike is still causing drama and the h AGAIN walks in on the bike and the H, with the H's tongue down the woman's throat.

But the H claims he was being kissed, not kissing the skank, so of course the h is mean to him and leading his sorry ass on and it is all her fault and her 'friends' cheerfully guilt her into pimping her self out to go back to the slime swiller.

HELLO!!!! The skank isn't all that big in stature, the H is a big buff manly kinda guy who supposedly hates this woman - so how in the HELL does she "force" herself on him with his tongue down her throat?

Methinks we have a skank bang gene running amock in the H's male bloodline -and not only that, but WHO BANGS THEIR FATHER'S PIECE? That was just too much for my poor, non drunken brain to tolerate.

I am seeking an emergency meeting with the Captain as we speak and thank goodness Mr. Booge can sail the boat home.

S.P. West delivers a tale of childhood sweethearts who seem to have it all. Brooke and Brody are the perfect couple until Brody drops a bomb dick move on Brooke thinking that the grass is greener elsewhere.

"I’ve only ever known life with Brooke. Is it so wrong that I want something different? ”

description

The story is told in both character’s povs and I very much enjoyed the writing and even though Brody greatly messed up with Brooke, this is a second chance romance and the man does have moves.

"I’ll move heaven and earth to prove to you that I won’t hurt you like that again. I’ll earn back the trust you lost in me. I promise.”

description

The story was entertaining and I’m assuming there will be more books in the future about the other characters included in this story. I’m not a forgiving person and so I did struggle with what to do with Brody. However, in the end I liked them together. I most definitely liked the yummy Jake, I hope he gets a book in the future.

Rough read.

I guess it was hard for me to let the heroine forgive the hero. The kind of cheating he did was despicable. I don't think I would have recovered from that... ever.

I know a lot of people out there that can't deal with cheating in their romance books. However, it is a reality and it happens all the time in real life. But as a theme for a book, it just makes it harder for the writer to redeem the cheaters in their stories. In this case, I think it was a fail for me and here are the reasons why.

The hero comes off as a real coward. Running off without a word to the heroine for three days.
He tells her its over for him because he wants to explore other woman since they have been together since they were young. Then he does the unthinkable, even after the heroine specifically ask him not to; he brings another woman to the home he still shares with her and has sex with OW in the next room... GAH!!!!! HELLO?!!! What's worst, this woman is a woman his brother cheated with as well years back. AND (get this) his girlfriend was the heroine's younger sister. So knowing all this he cheats with this woman?!!!! SO not only is he a cheater and selfish, but he's also stupid.

I mean, I loved it because it was twisted and hurtful and you really want to see how this dude is going to get the heroine back after that, or if the heroine is gonna find a HEA with someone else. And it seemed like it was going in that direction.

But... it doesn't

And the cheating pig becomes a whinny repetitive bitch saying the same shit over and over when he sees the heroine again. But the grovelfest should have lasted WAAAY longer for the shit he pulled. Never once doing anything to truly redeem himself. S.P West really made a difficult situation for herself when she created that sort of debacle!! And unfortunately, for me, I don't find BRODY deserved BROOKE back. he was a fucking asshole! (there...I said it!)

The writing was awesome... but the dude, even though sweet, was unredeemable to me. And poor Brooke was miserable for like 98% of the book. It made for a lot of unhappy heroine for me. I would have like to see her shine a bit more before the epilogue.

I’m absolutely, one hundred percent, completely smitten with this story. I made the huge mistake of starting this story when I went to bed last night, and ended up staying up most of the night because I couldn’t put it down. I read until I couldn’t keep my eyes opened, then got up first thing this morning and read until the end. I adored every second of it!

Serious spoilers below. Definitely don't read if you are going to read this story later.

Against my better judgement I started this.

Where is a world weary, cynical bastard of an alpha Greek/Italian/Spanish/Sicilian HP hero when you need one? I'll even take an Aussie.

Okay, I'll step in with some common sense advice for the stupid father, dumb son #1 and the other dumb son #2 .

Quick reread because I recently read His Bittersweet Regret and it reminded me of this one. I walked away with a similar reading experience. It’s enjoyable in a trashy/soapy surface read for those that enjoy a drama-llama ride on the HotMess Express. There are too many unexplained/illogical bits to make this a serious read… and I give a lot of leeway for my soapy-train-wrecky reads, so if swoon or safety are concerns… I’d skip. He doesn’t technically cheat, but I suspect it’ll piss SG’ers off.

****Original Review*****
Free to read with KU, Love Hate & Us follows childhood sweethearts Brody and Brooke as their relationship blows up, and then, as they try to put it back together.

This book starts with Brody deciding to break up with his long-time love and fiancé Brook, because they have been together since childhood, and he feels like he’s going to miss out on different experiences. Although I found his reasoning weak/cowardly… I am a believer if free will and all, and could see where one might be nervous had they been shoved together since birth.

The couple have an emotional breakup, that I felt pained them both. Then there is a situation with an OW (Joely), and Brooke leaves town. I’m tagging this as cheating-ish for tracking because the hurt is there, but it’s not technically cheating. They had been broken up for a month.

This hooked me, and I stayed up late reading it, but more in a “watching the crazy train” way; it was enjoyable as long as I didn’t dig too deep. I liked the secondary characters and found the OTT evil skank entertaining. B & B’s story was pretty much sorted out, but there were some loose ends. I thought she was setting things up for a Cade/Hope book, but this was released in 2017, and there hasn’t been anything yet, so maybe not. My main complaint of the book, is there were inconsistencies throughout the plot that bugged me. I think this was the authors way to tease info, then soften the blow and make us forgive, but it left me confused.

Bottom line- OK if you like OTT/trashy reads… and can handle H’s making stupid choices to generate drama-llama. The h comes across somewhat immature at times, and parts of the plot are completely unrealistic and inconsistent, but there’s quite a lot of begging on knees, and groveling.

Safety- Major Spoilers

this was good to start and all was going well. a little angsty and i was liking it but then we find out the reason brody has for breaking up with brooke and for this reader the story quickly took a tumble into cheese city. our book took another tumble when we met some new male characters who all happen to be strippers that live next door and what really killed my mediocre joy was the fact the author named them after the one direction kids.. gtfo #2. i rolled my eyes so much from here i dont even know how i got to 49%. suddenly we find out that brody used to cage fight and jake was a marine (this new info just as they start a fight with one another.) i was almost expecting a merry band of bikers to show up next page because thats a popular genre too. regardless of the mess i felt this book to be i know the grovel brody will give wont be good enough. the heroine is weak and imo these two ending up together is right because they ultimately deserve one another. go be bland together etc.

This is a ranty review… why? BECAUSE FUCK YOU BRODY THAT’S WHY.

Brody has doubts about the future with his childhood sweetheart, Brooke, and feels suffocated by their relationship. He pulls a disappearing act, needing to reconsider his life while Brooke is desperate and out of her mind trying to find her fiancé. Upon Brody’s return he announces that he wants to see what is out there, play the field (which he feels he never got a chance to do given the duration of their relationship) and find himself again without his identity being attached to Brooke.

Sorry, but story was meh and the ending very predictable. Characters in this book don’t seem to act their age much, as they come off quite immature. Most of all, Brody’s character is not the least bit redeeming at all. He is an inconsiderate, selfish asshole.

First off, if you feel like you need space to think things through and reconsider your whole life involving your significant other, it’s not hard to send a text, email or even smoke signal to let your partner know you are okay and going MIA- giving them a peace of mind. Instead Brody ignores all calls and texts from Brooke while she is ringing up every bloody hospital making sure he is a-okay. He doesn’t even have an excuse because he sends a text to assure his brother and parents that he is fine. IDK MAN. We can *totally* see how important Brooke is to you. To top it off, he is hardly apologetic about this either.

Brody ends their relationship on the fact that he felt like he was missing out and wants to see what is out there with someone else, somewhat envious(?) seeing guys with different girls each week. However, Brody has instant-regrets once he wakes up in bed next to a woman who is not Brooke. Realisation dawns on him that ohh noooo the grass is no greener on the other side. Poor baby boy comes to his senses that he already had everything he ever needed right in front of him with Brooke. UGHHHH Kill me. Don’t forget Brody had 11 days to mull over this and his relationship with Brooke and then he pulls this buyers-remorse bullshit??! He had his fun but once he comes to regret he assumes Brooke would stick around to take him back after he makes up for it oooookay…. honestly, what was going on in Brody’s brain "Yeah-nah what I had before was better, hey Brooke, where you at, my one true girl?" BLOODY HELL BRODY. SLEEP IN THE HOLE YOU DUG YOURSELF AND STAY THERE.

His grovelling was pretty shit-tastic. I don’t think he was ever going to be redeemable (in my eyes) anyway given the decision he made to ends things and the reasons behind it. There’s also more pathetic grovelling/excuse later on that Brody thought Brooke deserved better than him hence his actions UGHHH give me a break. If she deserves better then let her go?

With the excuses Brody spills later on, he should have communicated with Brooke and perhaps work things out/give it another shot rather than make the decision himself to end things and jump ship. My real question is how does Brody function with all the missing brain cells? Amazing!

R.I.P 4 hours of my life, lost forever! I will always remember and regret you! And this book (regret, not remember).

This book was cheesy!so,so cheesy! It was so cheesy that I boiled some pasta to go with it 🤣 the ending, the millionaire-hot-boy-best-exmarine-stripper-friend, their wedding, that thing with the plane and the island trip and the hotel room paid by someone else....Arrrrgh..I think I just throw up a little. The book is rushed, nothing significant happens, they fight, they break up,they f#@k,they fight again, and they live happy ever after.

There was a lot of slut - shaming and I did not get that because the hero and the heroine were both talking with the town slut and they both were upsed and said that she was guilty for a lot of broken marriages. Really? Wtf? Yes,she had sex with married men but c'mon..she did not forced them..she did not take marriage vows as the husbands did..that part was total bullshit.

The plot WITH SPOILERS:
The h and the H are together since high school but suddenly the H disappears for 3days because he needs to think about their relationship. After another 8days,he is is telling the h that he want to be single, he wants to date, and he wants something else. They still live together for another month because they have a house together and they both are stubborn. The H begins to date but the h asks him to not bring home another woman. And guess what?? That same night, he comes home with the town slut (the one that slept with his father and his brother) and the h hears him how he says that he wants her so bad..la,la,la...gag reflex..la,la,la.. the next morning he regrets everything, the h disappears but suddenly the H understands that he loves her and he wants her back. And she takes him back ..again,gag reflex!

This book is not getting 1* because of the cheating part. It is getting 1* for the writing, for the chessyness, for the 250and something pages of stupid and idealistic behaviour.

This one was just ok for me. I think what knocked it down was that H basically played into the shenanigans of the OW . This was too much for me. I would like to read the book about Hope and Cade - sounds pretty angsty.

I loved writing Brooke and Brody.
I loved writing Jake.
I loved writing Cade and Hope.
I loved writing the whole thing.
Some of it made me laugh out loud, some of it made me cry as I wrote.

Within it you'll real life situations and real life conversations (I won't tell you what.)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.

This book, wow, this book. I loved it! You ever pick up a book from a new to you author and go into it with no expectations and end up feeling fireworks and a torrent of emotions? That’s what this book did to me. The angst was palpable and the hurt and rejection that our heroine goes through is so well-written that I almost felt like it was happening to me. I loved that she was not a door mat and didn’t immediately fall back into the hero’s arms. I admired her inner strength and determination to not let his betrayal destroy her. I also liked that the hero was desperate to get her back and worked for it.

I love the evil other woman trope and thought that it was handled well here. The author basically hit on a number of my very favorite tropes and I devoured this book. It broke my heart, it excited me, made me angry (at the hero), and even made me smile. I’m so glad I came across this book and decided to read it. It’s a treasure.

There is nothing more annoying than adults behaving like stupid teenegers. Or there is but right now that is on my mind...

Maybe author wanted create some kind of big boom so story would go on and yes there are stupid things that adults do but come on, this was too much for me.
But I kept reading wondering where this is going. For some serious shit this was very shallow and unfinished read with absolutely idiotic and unbelievable characters. Like one of those teens dramas on tv, you can not believe it but you are watching, or in this case reading....

Not bad. Somethings kind of came out of nowhere. One minute heroine is saying she won’t get back together with Hero then the next sentence (with sex involved) they are back together.

Technically there is no cheating as Hero and heroine had broken up before he brought someone home. Him bringing home OW was a douche move because they still lived together but not cheating in my opinion.

Brooke and Brody should stay far away from one another because both think with their heart instead of head. Or they do but with low IQ. Who knows?

Brody wanted a break. Understandable. He have been in the small town for far too long. But, before doing so, he dissapeared for 11 days. Instead of staying with that plot, West threw in Joeyln to spice thing up.

And when things start to get better for both MC, another plot. Something to do about infertility. And even before that got out, guess who make an appearance? Yes, Joeyln. Was that her name? Maybe I should call her Joe.

I just can't. Nope. Not for me. Not bad but, not for me.

3.5ish. Wow, this was rough. Long time couple break up because he feels like he's missing out on "experiencing life" aka being with other women...so, you can imagine the drama/angst that entails. I will say he grovels and fights to get her back, but what he put her through at the beginning of the book is just shy of unforgivable.

This was good. Brody was an idiot in the beginning. I hated how he treated her at first and bringing a chick home and having “relations”where his fiancée could hear was a total prick move. NOT COOL.

But I liked how she rallied and got on with her life- making a new life away from the a-hole - with hot male strippers as best friends.

I loved how miserable he was and how he groveled. Some of the scenes were extremely hot - not going to lie AND funny. I laughed a lot.

All in all, it ended well and if you can get through the first crap betrayal between them- the rest is good. Totally worth it.

High drama, low realism. We open with our heroine panicking because her fiance has disappeared without warning and she's afraid something's happened to him. Curveball: she learns from his younger brother that he's decided to dump her but took off rather than tell her that. Cut to: our hero (yes, really) moping in a cabin, full of manpain, in love with our heroine but determined to end things with her because his father somehow screwed up with an Evil Other Woman. Our hero returns, tells the heroine that he wants to screw around more, and they break up but remain in the same house for plausible financial reasons. In the meantime, our hero gets drunk with the Evil Other Woman, brings her back to the house, and screws her. Which the heroine can hear.

So we go from ridiculous implausible self-sacrificing hero who is something something something because his idiot father screwed up with the Evil Other Woman to cheating asshole hero who screws the Evil Other Woman despite his love for the heroine. That's... a game-changer, actually. When the heroine dumps his ass and heads out of town, I cheer; when she returns briefly for family reasons and he starts groveling in an attempt to win her back, I boo. Come on. The poorly-defined family drama that caused him to believe He Must End Things With His Beloved was one thing. Screwing an Evil Other Woman while his beloved was in the same house? Unforgivable. Come on.

We should also probably talk, not-so-briefly, about the Evil Other Woman - peroxide blonde, fake boobs, and all - who slept with all three men in Our Hero's family - Dad, hero's younger brother, and now hero - and then do a double-take: she was eighteen when she slept with Dad. Who was married. And she was also sleeping with the hero's younger brother, who was about her age. The narrative is clear that this is because she's the Evil Other Woman and also probably has a lot of STDs, but a married middle-aged man who knocks up a teenage girl who's dating his teenage son? When you look at that angle it's more than a little problematic. And "blackmailing" him for two thousand dollars a month when she has a baby? Uh... yeah... because, uh, when it's the Evil Other Woman who has an illegitimate baby she should take on all that financial responsibility by herself! Yeah! He was a respectable business owner and she was a teenage tramp! He owed her nothing, man!

Let's not even worry about the fact that apparently he knew (or thought) that he had a child with a financially unstable, blackmailing monster and was totally okay leaving her in sole possession of that child for a good nine years. Father of the year, folks. I've obviously devoted way too much thought to this, but I just hate the Evil Other Woman trope so much and the way this novel used it to excuse some truly horrid behavior by basically every male character in the book was gross. (Even the Hot Best Friend publicly lambasted the EOW, whom he'd never met before, for probably being riddled with STDs when she had the temerity to flirt with him at a bar. He started the flirting, BTW. Yeah.)
