Lipstick on Her Collar is a really well put together anthology of theme based erotic lesbian stories. This is my first foray into reading lesbian erotica and I really enjoyed it. Of course, I liked or resonated with some stories more than others as is the case with any anthology; however, all the stories in this book are really interesting and well-written.
I must be honest in saying that I’m not a lesbian. Nor do I know much about the specifics of the lesbian sexual world. So I can’t really review this book as someone who is knowledgeable about what would constitute hot erotica for a lesbian. Personally, I think sex is sex and a good story is good story, and coming from that stand point, I really enjoyed reading this book and felt it had a nice eclectic mix of some very hot and sweet stories.
While all the stories were engrossing and fun to read, some really stood out for me. I really loved:
Straight Seams by Julia Talbot- This was a fun seduction story that seemed to take place in the 40’s. I loved the whole retro, glamour feel of it.
Poppies Are Not the Only Flower by Elspeth Potter- a very sweet wartime, WWI, comfort story. This is the first time for me to read any erotic story based in that era and I liked the images that it conjured up for me.
Head Hunter by CB Potts- the unexpected seduction story. A business women head hunts and seduces another one whose ex is dating the business women’s ex.
Lipstick on Her Collar by Sacchi Green- a Vietnam War story of a secret encounter. I liked the illicitness and actual sweetness of how the two characters come together in a world where homosexuality is forbidden.
Femme Princess by Ellen Tevault- A femme totally ignored by her live-in lover answers a want ad by a butch and finds someone who actually wants her. A really nice revenge story.
Reap What You Sew by Crystal Barela- A quiet mousy type of woman who’s been admiring her classy boss gets to be with her. It’s a story of passive seduction on the boss’ part and full seduction by the employee.
Castling by Teresa Noelle Roberts- Oooh, this one was my favorite! A couple is in Whales for a conference and is staying at the house of a friend’s mother, so they cannot sleep in the same room. It’s Valentine’s Day though, and they manage to have a romantic night of it anyway, ending up in a ruined castle on a full moon night. This story was so sweet! I enjoyed it enough to check out some more of the author’s work.
Alter Girl by Val Murphy- Ok, this is right up my alley because it’s about a young woman who is brought up in a strict Catholic environment, but has her own interpretation of heaven. It’s a really fun, and deliciously decadent story where in this young girl seduces her older boss.
This book definitely taught me a lot about a world I didn’t know that much about and I found it kind of fascinating as well as a lot of fun to discover. All in all this was an excellent read that I’m sure most readers of lesbian erotica will really enjoy and maybe even other’s like me, who would only read it out of curiosity. Also, I quite liked that at the end of the book there is a short bio of all the authors and what other stories they have written. I thought it nice info to include in this book.
