Trapped in Esrever: Alex vs Sandman

Rate this book
My name's Alex and I'm not from around here. When I first woke up in Esrever County, I discovered a world completely opposite of home. Rules were optional. Books were off limits. Chocolate, video games and slacking off were encouraged. You get the idea… it was awesome!

But there was one the creatures and legendary figures I always read about were not only real and present in Esrever, but were opposite of the way I knew them. When the Sandman creeps into my life, he's determined to turn my dream vacation into a horrifying nightmare!

***

Trapped in Esrever combines the frightening chills of Goosebumps with the humorous story-telling of a Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It would be a perfect addition to your collection.

3 stars from me, 5 stars from my son, makes this 4 stars.

I found the story to be okay. I enjoyed the drawings throughout the book. My son, who is 6, said he loved it. We read it together over three nights before bed for about 30 minutes or so each night.

Trapped in Esrever: Alex vs. Sandman (Tales From Esrever: Sandman, Bring Me A Scream) — (13 titled chapters) July 18, 2019

This story is a spooky story aimed at 9-12 year olds. And it seems pretty appropriate for that age group. It's a fast read, thankfully, but it does teach a lesson, and it is a bit intense and scary.

Alex is a bully and rotten to his mom. She makes him eat healthy food and sets a curfew and makes him do his homeowrk. He doesn't have a dad, and his mom is working hard to make ends meet. Mom decides to send Alex to his aunt and uncle and there he meets his cousin. In this world, everything is opposite of Alex's normal life. Now, it's all Alex can do to survive the world and get back to his world.

First book in the series and it hits the ground running. Excellent illustrations and story is engaging.

Three stars.

This is a cute and funny book. I read it first, but I believe my 10 yr old will enjoy it also. It is a great price for a kids book.
