She was the woman I never should have, but she was just the type that would make me a better man. Just the type I needed by my side. People like me in my line of work don’t deserve a woman like her. But I had to have her. Once I saw Krista, I had to show her the world and make her mine. We’re from two different worlds, but even the day and night share a common bond of an eternal glow. Krista is the light in my midnight sky. She just doesn’t know it yet.
Krista
Never on vacation in Puerto Rico did I ever expect my life to forever change just from one simple question— “Is this seat taken?” I should have said no. But he was so intoxicating, everything about him from his rich scent to his pinkie ring. He was the wealthiest man I’ve ever met and he wanted to take me out so I said yes. On our first date he bought me a Ferrari. I thought he was a trust fund baby until I faced the rude awakening of his line of work. He’s the most dangerous man I have ever met. That’s my problem; bad boys always break my heart. He’s the last man I need. He’s the last thing our growing baby needs…
Danger is a thrilling secret baby, mafia romance novella (25k words) with ***a happy ending *** and is a stand alone read. For your reading pleasure, follow the brothers in their own tale in books 2 and 3. Out now!
This was a short quick read that was pretty good. Diego comes from a Puerto Rican Crime Family dark dangerous and he is hot and sexy. Krista who went to Puerto Rico on vacation her life changed once he led eyes on her. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I liked both of these characters a lot. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Rating: 2 1/2 stars (The half is for the potential with editing)
Diego and Krista. Hmmmm, where to start?
Aside from insta love, physical attraction and material gain (for the h) there was no foundation for why these two should be together. Zero. The setting was in Puerto Rico which added something to the story. That's it.
If you are a 'good girl' there is no way you would willingly stay and live with a drug cartel lord. Krista was 2stoopid2live. Her choices from the time she first meets Diego are all based on her physical attraction to him. Diego is nice enough for a drug lord. Of course, he can afford to buy her anything but at what cost? Is your life worth fancy jewelry and expensive cars? Is your life worth hot sex? (Some of you don't answer this question).
And speaking of the word "hot". How many freakin times did I see that word plastered all over this book? I lost count. There have to be other adjectives the author could have used. With some editing and more character and plot development, this story could have more potential. I was intrigued by the idea overall. Now I wish it had been a free read.
Warnings: No OW, OM or cheating. Triggers: No rape scenes. There is some domestic violence, descriptions of violence, and as expected a shoot-out. The sex is explicit but not graphic. Sexual practices not safe =stoopid.
Sorry, I am not rating this because I just couldn't do it:( It was just not at all my cup of tea, so to speak.
There is so much that needs to be done to this book (characters, storyline, etc) and this story and honestly there was a good idea here but it needed a lot of work in order to pull it off for my reading expectations/preferences unfortunately!
I hate to put a book down and/or an author so I am just going to leave my review as this just wasn't for me sadly:(
This is the second book by Piper Page that I have read. I like her style. The Mafia genre is a favorite of mine. This book is a fun, quick getaway story. I did not review an ARC of this book.
I started off liking the book. But, most of my thoughts will be in spoilers.
You had me until 79% . But I finished regardless. What's 21% left? Oh wait, next issue . The epilogue:
Key components to the story are missing. Time gaps...without any explanation. I DID NOT read the first two chapters of the next book. I will not be continuing this series. Because honestly, it needs help. Any beta reader and/or editor that did not mention the above things to the author should be ashamed to call themselves that. And if you did mention something and the author completely disregarded, find a new author. So glad I got this through KU and didn't end up buying it. Cause then I would have been pissed.
1st read from this author, I am so loving Piper's style of writing ... this is a novella and I did not realize this when i was reading it... but it is a super quick read. I have noticed a lot of the times these novella in my opinion need to be longer ... the tend to be the better books for these authors ... the capture your interest, pull ya in and then suddenly .... it is over and you think ... what? over already? don't say that?!?!? sad face. Diego reminds me of a boss I had once ... never knew if he was with the mafia but i did wonder ... long gold necklaces, tons of rings ... he had that style ... i bet it was a real hunk when younger ....check this series out ... appears there are 3 so far .... not sure if Piper will write more or not??!
