Award-winning author Elle James grew up as an air force military brat. She received her work ethic from her rock-solid father, her creative streak from her artistic mother and inspiration from her writing partner and sister, Delilah Devlin. As a former member of the army reserves and a current member of the air force reserves, she's traveled across the United States and to Germany, managed a full-time job, and raised three wonderful children. She and her husband have even tried their hands at ranching exotic birds (ostriches, emus and rheas) in the Texas hill country. Ask her, and she'll tell you what it's like to go toe-to-toe with an angry three-hundred-and-fifty-pound bird and live to tell about it!
Her adventures in the army and air force reserves, and the wild antics of her life on a small ranch in Texas give her fodder for mystery, suspense and humor in her writing. Elle writes gothic, paranormal mystery for the Harlequin Intrigue line and paranormal romantic comedy for Dorchester Publishing. A former manager of computer programming and project management professionals, Elle is happy she now has the opportunity to pursue her writing full time.
I love these books. Elle James can write them forever and I will read them. For some of you the short novel may not satisfy your need for an expanded plot with character development, and the insta-lust may be off-putting, but I really like this book. "Montana Ranger" had a good plot, and a hot romance. I did get a little annoyed at Hannah, but Taz was wonderful.
Hannah Kendricks is a physical therapist and runs a rescue ranch for horses and wounded warriors. It is a great combination. The former soldiers with disabilities gain self-confidence and self-reliance while helping rehab abused animals. But someone has been stalking Hannah and there have been several "accidents". The ranch's mysterious benefactor has hired Brotherhood Protectors to watch over her and find out who is trying to harm her.
Former Army Ranger, Alex "Taz" Davila, was almost blown up in Afghanistan and when the dust settled, he was the only survivor of his team. He suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TMI) and it took months of rehabilitation to regain his motor skills. He still can't remember exactly what happened, but he knows that what he can't remember is really important. Hank Patterson of Brotherhood Protectors has just the job for him and his cover story as a wounded warrior is perfect because the client doesn't want Hannah to know he is there to protect her.
From the moment Taz and Hannah set eyes on each other, the sparks fly, and the temperature rises. But she is his client, and he is her patient, but that isn't enough to keep them out of each other's arms. With the threat to Hannah very real and close, they both need to find out who wants to harm her and why.
Alex, aka Taz, was an Army Ranger until he was forced into early retirement due to a traumatic brain injury. Now he's working with the Brotherhood Protectors alongside other former military members. His first assignment is a little tricky as he's going in covertly...to his protectee, though his need for rehab is legitimate as he's still suffering some side effects from his injury. Taz can't remember his last mission, but he does know he's the only survivor out of the four man team. Plus, their sacrifice was for nothing as the terrorist escaped.
Hannah, a therapist, loves her job working with veterans, helping rehabilitate wounded warriors and rescue abused horses on a rehab ranch. But lately little accidents have been happening and it has a few people concerned not for the ranch per se, but for Hannah as she's the only one impacted by them. Unfortunately, another accident occurs and Hannah is injured. This one can't be written off as anything other than what it is...someone is after Hannah.
When Taz and Hannah literally bump into each other, Hannah is immediately attracted to him, yet is disappointed upon finding out he's there as a client, which means her rule of not getting involved with a patient is in play. But their chemistry is too intense to be denied and it isn't long before they're giving into temptation.
However, Hannah still isn't safe, and may be in even more danger. The question is, who would want to hurt Hannah and why? Plus, now that the investor behind the ranch has revealed his identity, Hannah is struggling to prove how necessary the ranch is to the man's wife. She can't understand where the hostility toward her is coming from as she's never met either one, but Taz has a theory on why. When it's confirmed, the reason behind the attacks on Hannah is uncovered. Now if only they could find the man that was hired, Hannah would be safe.
Is Hannah the only one in danger? Or has Taz's past, the mission he can't remember, coming for him? Will Taz get his memories back before it's too late? Are both Taz and Hannah safe? Who is the mysterious person that hired Taz's employer? Who are they to Hannah? Will Taz and Hannah get a HEA?
One-click now and follow along as two people find a healing love where they least expected it. Please keep in mind this book is part of a series and while I feel it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading them in order.
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
Montana Ranger is part of the Brotherhood Protectors Series but stand just fine on it's own. This book has all those elements that makes for one really great read. There is mystery, suspense, drama, unexpected twist, romance, heart warming moments, and strong friendships.
Hannah Kendricks has such a kind heart. She's sweet, intelligent, not afraid of hard work, and she sure does know how to do her job helping the clients that have came to Brighter Days Ranch for therapy. She has a way of helping them learn how to do things on their own and together that makes them feel better and shows them that just because they have challenges it doesn't mean they can't still do things. I was really impressed this this story line. It's a heart warming story with several heart pounding moments of suspense.
Alex “Taz” Davila has received clearance that he is able to work again after a mission went horribly wrong and left him with a brain injury and cost his friends and team mates their lives. It was impossible not to fall for Taz. He's been through so much and still doesn't remember everything that he wants to know. Taz has no idea his first mission with the Brotherhood Protectors might just be helpful to him too.
Hannah and Taz have an instant attraction that they both fight because it goes against the "rules" they have set for themselves. The attraction is just too strong and it's not long before that smoldering passion turns into some might power fireworks.
Hannah is such a kind person that no one can figure out why these "accidents" keep happening to her. Everyone on the Brighter Days Ranch is determined to watch after Hannah and try to keep her safe. Taz is determined to protect this woman that is quickly finding a spot in his heart. He will do what ever it takes to make sure no harm comes to her.
I have to say Ms. James threw some twists in there that I did not see coming. Of course I'm not going to tell you what they were. You are going to want to grab up this incredible story and read it for yourself. If you are a fan of Elle James' work you are in for another classic example of her wonderful talent. If you have not had a chance to read anything by Elle James yet but enjoy a wonderful romantic suspense story then give this one a try. I sure you will not be disappointed. I know I've never been disappointed with an Elle James story that is for sure.
Over all I truly enjoyed Montana Ranger. The story line is spectacular and had me mesmerized from the first page to the last. The characters are extraordinary and really touched my heart.
I was given the chance to read the fantastic book and it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts with you.

The last thing Alex 'Taz' Davila expected when he got off the plane in Montana was to be sent directly on a mission. However once he arrives, he sees it won't be a hardship to keep an eye on the lovely therapist, Hannah Kendricks.
With several attempts on her life, that she has been calling unfortunate mishaps; Hannah finally has to agree that there really is danger when it's apparent that the brakes on her tractor have been tampered with.
She doesn't know Taz has been sent to figure it all out, and she is of the firm belief she shouldn't get involved with a patient/client. The ranch she runs specializes in helping former military re-enter society by treating their insecurities with hard work. The clients work with the horses some that have been abused, and also do other chores around the ranch.
The first meeting and a manure fight that had me in giggles. Right from the start you get a glimpse of the camaraderie that exists between everyone at the ranch in spite of what branch they served in. All of them equally dedicated to keeping Hannah safe.
From a rejected puppy, to someone taking pot shots, this book will grab you and not let you go. Some major twists and turns, with a romance that will have you sighing.
Montana Ranger is the fifth book in The Brotherhood Protectors Series by Elle James. This series is a great blend of romance, action, and suspense - which is all set against the rugged backdrop of Montana. These books introduce us to a team of former military heroes who dedicate their lives to protecting others, all while navigating their own personal battles. Ms. James’ characters are definitely the heart of this series, and each protector is uniquely crafted, with a mix of strength, vulnerability, and charm. Their camaraderie and loyalty to one another also creates a sense of family that adds an extra element to the stories/series. These plots are fast-paced and packed with twists, cleverly blending high-stakes danger with heartfelt romance. Whether it's a SEAL turned cowboy, or a sniper finding love amidst chaos, each book delivers a satisfying mix of adrenaline and emotion. Elle James also weaves in themes of redemption, trust, and healing, making the series not just entertaining, but also heartfelt. With gripping storylines, endearing characters, and just the right amount of heat, this is a series that will leave you eagerly reaching for the next installment. Happy Reading…
Taz's didn't expect to be going back to rehab whilst taking his first job in the protection field, but even worse is how this woman makes him feel. To get the job done, he has to put aside his feelings and somehow get her to let him tag along by her side. Hannah loves her job, but now she has to face up to the fact, someone wants her dead. Why, she has no idea. A new client has come to town needing her help, but her thoughts take her down a decidedly sexy route, but she can't go there; she is his therapist, or so she thinks. These Formidable alpha males, balancing bravery with deep emotional struggles, and headstrong women who prove to be their undoing. Montana Ranger is charged with tension as they navigate this new environment as bodyguards. Along his journey, he encounters a diverse cast of characters, including resilient women who exude strength and empathy, showcasing their remarkable tenacity in the face of adversity. Montana Ranger is the fifth exciting tale of loyalty and courage, and looming threats jeopardise their lives and the lives they swore to protect. This story not only highlights the fierce devotion of its alpha heroes but also emphasises the importance of connection and resilience against a backdrop of uncertainty and danger.
Montana Ranger is a quick paced, intriguing and sexy story. Medically retired Army Ranger Taz Davila isn't looking for love when he accepts an assignment to protect Hannah Kendricks from threats by an unknown person.
Hannah is happy as a therapist running a ranch where veterans and horses in need are put together to help each other. She doesn't want to believe that someone is really out to hurt her but finally reluctantly accepts protection from a man she thinks is another veteran in need of her help.
The chemistry between Hannah and Taz is hot and once they finally get together – wow! This story kept me guessing right up until the end and I was quite surprised at who the bad guy turned out to be.
This is a great series by Elle James and I look forward to reading more stories about the Brotherhood Protectors.
An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
Taz barely survives a failed mission. Now with a traumatic brain injury he is missing the memory around the attack that killed three of his men. The memories are close but so far away. Upon release from the hospital he is hired by Hank from Brotherhood Protectors. Coming off the plane he is told his first assignment. A veteran physical therapy and horse recovery ranch.
Hannah lives the only place she has ever known. After her mom suddenly dies and then the ranch owner a corporation buys the range for Hannah to direct. The veterans at the ranch are wonderful secondary characters. Someone is out to harm Hannah as Taz works undercover to discover who and why.
The chemistry between Taz and Hannah is a lovely slow burn as they work together with everyone on the ranch. This ends up being a double mystery of who-done-it. This is worth four and a half stars, best one in this series so far.
I liked both Taz and Hannah. I really expected Taz's TBI to be more of an issue for him than it proved to be on the ranch. I also thought there would be more conflict because of Taz's memory loss, and whoever it was trying to get rid of Hannah.
The funny thing is, I was almost completely right about the culprits. I got two of them right, but just a little bit twisted. So, in the end, I still got to be surprised.
Hannah and Taz had great chemistry. It almost jumped off the pages at me. I liked all of the secondary characters, Gavin, Percy, etc., except for one. That person had a small part in the book, but played a larger role in Hannah's life.
I did wish that this one had an epilogue. I needed to know more about Taz and Hannah's future plans. Maybe they will turn up in a future Brotherhood Protector book.
Another great tale of Elle James serise brotherhood protectors..
First and above all I enjoyed this book. All of the plots are semilar, New veteran of war released from the military ends up in Montana working for a special forces of seal soldier as a body guard. Happy to be given a chance at fitting back in society in after hyears of combat duty. Providing bodyguard services to clients ,a new experience that takes a bit of adapting. Taz fresh off the plane goes to work on a ranch covering the Gal therapist in danger of being killed. Add the attraction the two feel toward one another..... Brings a complicated love, romance With plenty of steam! Suspense and adventure reign supreme.. My. James keeps us guessing till the end..
Elle James always writes a brilliant story line.... Although all in this series have a similar back ground - medically retired service personnel - injured in war -- each story wraps around a different character from the armed forces, as they settle into civvie street....Not easy, and they do find it difficult at times. This story covers Taz and Hannah..... both characters are well liked and I adored them... especially Taz.... well, who wouldn't want a hunk of a man who was a gentle giant around? The story line was especially rewarding as it covers the workings of a Ranch that is run by injured service personnel, to help them over come disabilities, both physical and mental. The helplessness they feel and how they learn to work together to achieve the simplest of task (for the fully bodied) . Add to the mix, animals who require the same amount of attention, it made for a brilliant read. I have heard it said, never work with children or animals.... but in this case it really does work for everyone involved.
On my, am so happy Taz and Hannah's came along because I was ready to give up on this series. Finally a story that felt like a full length book not a short novel! Their story won me back. Here Taz is dealing with a TBI where some of his most painful memories are locked, except for the fact he knows he lost numerous team members. If he could only remember..., but now he has his first assignment protecting a therapist at a veteran's recovery Ranch. Hannah a a handful.
Hannah is determined to help her clients and these unfortunate accidents will not detour her at all, even though no he around her believes they are accidents. Now, she has a new client who is making everything tingle and that just can't be.
New to the Brotherhood, as Alex ‘Taz’ Devilia is fresh off the plane when he’s met by Hank and given an assignment, safeguard therapist Hannah Kendricks at the nearby wounded warrior rehabilitation ranch. Taz’s TBI and recent discharge are the perfect cover. Hannah and the current residents disagree on what’s happening, they’re convinced the rash of freak accidents are targeted against Hannah, she insists they’re explainable accidents and coincidences.
Since the day he woke up in hospital, Taz has been trying to force himself to remember what happened the day his team was killed but he can’t account for that day. Someone’s been digging in Hannah’s past. As Taz and Hannah make small steps toward romance, Taz’ cover is in jeopardy. Rating: 4.25stars
Montana Ranger by Elle James is a fantastic read. Ms James has once again delivered a suspenseful tale in the form of a well-written book. The characters in this book are absolutely phenomenal. Taz and Hannah's story is loaded with drama, humor, suspense, action and let's not forget those sexy bits. This book is another example of why I love Ms James' books and can't wait for my next book by this talented author. Montana Ranger is book 5 of the Brotherhood Protectors Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
The Brotherhood Protectors Series keeps getting better and better. Taz stepped off the plane straight into an assignment guarding Hannah. Hannah is a therapist working at The Brighter Days Ranch were returned service personnel with disabilities go to readjust to life . Someone is sabotaging things on the ranch nearly killing Hannah and Taz is trying desperately to keep her safe and remember the day that a house exploded killing the rest of his unit. Sparks fly right from the beginning between Hannah and Taz but both think it’s bad business practice to get involved with a client. Will they be able to keep their hands off each other, who knows?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Having read the first books of this series, I knew this book would be special. Second chances for wounded warriors, both human and animal, was the goal of Brighter Days Ranch. Be it loss of limb, loss of memory or loss of feeling human, Hanna was the well equipped therapist to handle it. Alex “Taz” Davila had a dual mission at the ranch: one, get his memory back and two, protect Hanna from whoever was trying to kill her. The Brotherhood Protectors, all former military, had been hired to see who was causing all sorts of problems including shots fired. It’s a special moment in the book when we get to meet Lucky. This being Book 5, I look forward to getting Book 6.
Taz Davila's first Brotherhood Protectors assignment seems tailor-made. Protecting a physical therapist on a ranch when wounded veterans come to learn how to reintegrate into everyday society. He does, afterall, have important memories that are key to his team's failed mission that somehow elude him. Hannah Kendicks is darn good at what she does. Giving a home to recovering vets and abused horses on the ranch where she grew up. Someone, though, is trying to harm her. The pull between Taz and Hannah is electric. Plus there are a couple of matchmakers nudging the two together. When the culprit who's out to get Hannah is revealed its definitely a shocker.
An intense drama surrounding a physical therapist who runs and operates a rehab ranch for veterans. The ranch is owned by a private investors group. Hank from the Brotherhood Protectors was approached and asked to provide someone to protect her as several attempts have been made on her life. Taz is brought in as her undercover protector while he is still recovering from own injuries. An intense adventure, a struggling new attraction and many hidden surprises.
Loved Hannah and Alex’s story. Loved what they were doing for veterans and horses. Lot of suspense, action, and surprises. A little confused about Hix. He kind of was just thrown in there trying to kill Taz. But was that just a coincidence or was he tied to Hannah. I figured out the Senator’s wife and Troy being after Hannah. Kind of figured out the senator and Hannah’s relationship too. I was drawn to this story fir what they were doing for the veterans and horses. The love story of Taz and Hannah was a wonderful end result. I was drawn in and could not put the book down.
This is the fifth book in the Brotherhood Protectors series. Taz has been medically discharged from the military and is offered a job with the Brotherhood Protectors. His first assignment is to protect a physical therapist who has had some accidents that could have killed her under different circumstances. Taz has his hands full keeping Hannah safe and ignoring the spark between them. The are a lot of twists and turns to this story as well as a few surprises. I love this book. The characters are amazing and the story is original. This is a must read.
The Brotherhood Protection Service has put together an elite team of former military personnel that are no longer able to serve. However their skills are still useful in the small Montana town where celebrities have built homes and need bodyguards. So not so famous people also need protection. Can't wait to read the next one in the series......
You can always count on Elle James to write a fantastic story. I've never been disappointed with one of her stories. Montana Ranger is one heck a tear jerker, romance between a vet and the therapy supervisor.
Taz Taz who may not look like a wounded warrior but will she be able rescue heart and that of Tex's also. Or will she fall deeply for the TBI vet who just wants his memories back?
Loved Taz's story. He and his team were set up overseas and he has a brain injury as a result. Hannah is a therapist for wounded warriors and abused horses. She does all this on the farm where she was was born. When Hannah is threatened Taz is hired to protect her. Loved this story about the different guys (wounded warriors) that are there, especially Young. He is so special. Would recommend this book to anyone.
Taz is the new hire and his first job is as undercover bodyguard for Hannah who is the therapist at a ranch for wounded warriors and abused horses. Taz has memory problems as the result of a TBI from his last mission so he fits in well on the ranch. The therapist has had three “accidents” in the last few weeks and definitely needs watching. These two hit it off right from the start and Taz and his boos try to figure out who wants to hurt Hannah.
Interesting characters without a great deal of depth. The mystery part of the plot is quite flimsy with the denouement being rushed through very rapidly, with an extra twist at the end just to wrap up all the loose ends. It was all a bit too simplistic, with little relation to real life. I don’t regret the couple of hours I spent reading it, but I have no plans to read more by this author,
Hannah works as a therapist on a ranch which helps veterans and rescued animals, when weird incidents start occurring. Unbeknownst to her, an anonymous person hires a bodyguard to protect her😁 When Taz arrives on the ranch, he’s undercover but he soon realised him and Hannah have great chemistry❣️Will he be able to protect her and their hearts?
Taz was betrayed in the worst way possible, he is still recovering both physically and mentally, but the moment he meets Hannah his recovery takes a back seat to her protection. She steals his breath and then his heart, how can anyone want to kill this warm, generous, beautiful woman who gives her patients everything? Once Taz neutralises the threat will she gift him her heart and their future?
That's sad in a few spots and a innocent person died 4 no reason. That rehab place is awesome with those people there that's learning a lot of things. He has sum major issues and the main problem was his memory loss and the guilt he will probably always have cause of 3 of his teammates dieing but will he get his memory back and find out who was behind his issues? Read and find out. There's a few unexpected surprises.
