At eighteen, Heather Ramsay finds herself pregnant. She vows to not let the baby ruin Jeff’s scholarship to MIT this coming fall. Heather decides this pregnancy would best be handled by putting the baby up for adoption. That way the baby wouldn’t disrupt anyone’s life but her own, right? Silly, naïve teenager. I have to confess, I am not the ideal reader for this story having lived through this from a mother’s perspective. Although, our circumstances were vastly different. A box set like this is a great deal for the money, but with a wide variety of authors and sub-genres you may find that some don't work for you. “Holly Jolly Christmas” is an example of one that wasn’t for me.
Since Heather’s mother is rightly distracted by her dad’s serious diagnoses and cancer treatments, Heather confides in her older sister. Madelyn has graduated from medical school and offers sound advice while trying to support her younger sister. Ms. Risk does a good job representing both Heather’s views and thoughts as well as Jeff’s with alternating points-of-view. Jeff shows his maturity by trying to keep a level head, even though there are times he loses his self-control. The twists in the story keeps emotions at a high level throughout. “Holly Jolly Christmas” is a sweet, but heart rending, story that explores many aspects of the situations at hand. No significant proofing issues.
“Holly Jolly Christmas” is a prequel novella to Ms. Risk’s “Holiday Babies Series”. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. May have received a free review copy. ** November 21, 2016
Heather is only 18 years old, and she discovers that she is going to have a baby. Jeff, her boyfriend and baby's father, is surprised but supportive. Heather decides that she is going to give the baby up for adoption, buy Jeff wants to raise his child. Mona Risk takes the reader through the trials and tribulations of Jeff and Heather trying to make the right decision. There is much going on in the family, so it is not an easy decision. If you like romance and a little complications, you will enjoy this book. Happy reading! ☺️
Heather Ramsey is just 18 and in love with her long time neighbor/friend Jeff Bolin. Jeff is a little older than Heather and when they find out she's pregnant, Heather begins to worry. Jeff just received a scholarship to MIT and Heather wants to attend college full-time. How will a baby fit in with their plans? How long can she hide it from her parents? Beautiful short romance with some heart wrenching moments, and a love that conquers all.
2 stars say it was an OK read - actually it wasn't, the plot was such a cliché I just speed-read it. Girl getting pregnant, boy wanting to keep the baby, girl thinking about adoption, while her dad has cancer and undergoes and chemo and dies. All the generic knowledge an everyday person knows about pregnancy, job interview, adoption, cancer - all was there, without a single extra. The 2 stars are 2 and not 1 because the writing wasn't really bad.
As I started reading the book, I had a wide range of emotion. In the Holly Jolly Christmas, Heather has some tough decisions to make and is so afraid of disappointing her parents especially with her father so sick with the cancer.
This is a short novella that will make you laugh at the sisters, especially Tiffany and Claire, then it will make you cry at the ending.
A story about love and loss at Christmas A young couple had a problem She was pregnant and wanted college so she wanted to give the baby up for adoption Her father is ill with cancer They marry She delivers a boy and celebrate Christmas A story about family and friends
I enjoyed this story it keep me wanting to get in help them . Relieve their stress and family members who had other ideas, what they want them to do. I like that they decided together in the end to stay together and rise baby.
I enjoyed this story about a young couple fresh out of high school with a lot of decisions to make. It's a nice story with a bittersweet Christmas ending but it felt like a 1960 solution to a very modern dilemma. An interesting read and well written but not really to my tastes.
This prequel is a Christmas novel with a sad ending. Although the ending is sad, it is true to life. I feel the plot is well written, however I believe it could have been written without the cursing. Because of the cursing, I have rated it a 4 star. I was gifted a copy and the review is by my choice and my own words.
