Author’s Note: This is Book 2 in the Kaldar Warrior Series. While this book may be read as a standalone, the reader is advised to read the books in order to gain insight into the characters and extended storyline.

Samantha always had a hard time letting people in. The only person who truly mastered that was just kidnapped by the same aliens that have been parading around Earth promoting their undying respect and protection to the female population. Right. Because it’s every girl’s dream to be whisked away to some far off planet with a bunch of aliens. One small decision leads to big changes and Samantha is about to find out how far she will go. Both to save her planet and her growing feelings for a certain green-eyed alien.

Darrok knew he had his work cut out for him. Six months searching for Samantha and keeping an eye on the growing problems near their borders. Along with finding and claiming his mate, he also has to make a decision that could give his race valuable information regarding their enemies. The catch? It would mean putting Samantha directly in harm’s way. It goes against everything that the Kaldar warrior stands for, but there is no other option. They must find out who is aiding their enemies and Darrok must ensure the cost is not his mate’s life.

I enjoy reading and writing about all kinds of fiction. The chance to immerse yourself into a story and feel like you are actually there, witnessing everything unfold, is fantastic. When I’m not cramming in time to write down a scene that has been playing out in my head, I volunteer with different groups that help out my community, spend time with family, and try to make a difference with my full-time job at a substance abuse agency.

I enjoy reading and creating stories about different time periods, paranormal, urban fantasy, time travel, contemporary, and science fiction. While most of these are a work in progress, I hope to have more for you in the future. I’m still learning every day about the writing process and have to remember that when it is all done, I FINALLY get to share the story with you.

Although I really love the series, this book made me want to throat punch the heroine. not only was she unnecessarily rude to everyone, especially her mate, but she was acting like a petulant child. even after everything that she was shown and proven to her with no way to doubt , she continued to fight. I mean I get that she was ( strong inde9woman) but there came a time when that changed and became just a spoiled brat. I almost put it down, but the other characters made up for her asinine ways. I would have given 5 * if not for my need to slap the ever loving crap out of Samantha. I am looking forward to the next book in hopes that the next heroine is not such a brat.

Stealth as a computer security IT/hacker is Samantha Cunnings forté so evading the big bad aliens should be child's play.

Mama didn't raise no fool so when a general directive was sent out that all women between the ages of 18-35 must register as possible Kaldar bride candidates, Sam knew something was fishy. It's just a matter of time for her to infiltrate the alien technology/computers to expose the real motive for registering, but also to locate her BFF Ashley who was kidnapped by a Kaldar. In the meantime Sam needs to stay off the radar as she's one of the majority of women who didn't register thus making her immediently claimable by Kaldar law.

Darrok knows Samantha is his truemate but has been unable to locate her for the past 6 months. He plans to dedicate more time and effort into finding her once he takes care of a minor problem. That being a persistent Earth hacker who is more successful than most attempting to breach their security. Whoever he is he's good, but Darrok, as the Kadar's primier technology/communications expert, is better.

* * * *

This is a second installment in the Kaldar Warrior series. A YA series that features supposed peaceful aliens traveling to Earth in search of truemates.

The author is definitely improving her craft. I was trying to think up a way to sum my feelings when I read the 'about the author' blurb at the end of the book. In it she (?) states: "The chance to immerse yourself into a story and feel like you are actually there, witnessing everything unfold, is fantastic." For me: mission accomplished.

I love SciFi themed stories in general and am a sucker for Earth women who bring strong alpha warrior type aliens to their knees. Just something about that formula that is so empowering to reinforce my belief that when aliens finally do show up on our planet (because honestly who thinks we are alone in the universe) they will act accordingly and realize us Earthers may be primitive but that don't mean we can't kick ass.

I totally appreciated the geekness of the main characters. The author found a way to make IT/computer career individuals sexy. Warriors on a different front but warriors all the same. Additionally, the story timeline was such that while Darrok instantly knew Sam was his truemate, Sam needed time to come to that same conclusion. Definitely a plus for me .. that and the fact Sam's capture wasn't as easy as Ashley's was. Totally loved the cat and mouse chase going on.

As this is a YA book, readers should not expect any hot bedroom action scenes. Didn't detract from my enjoyment one bit. Oh, maybe, just maybe I was screaming at my kindle to do the nasty already but the author wedged a wall of pillows into the mix and kept things on the up and up. There was one scene that had me laughing as it was the equivalent of a hormonal male teen telling the 'blue balls' myth if they don't do it. Not sure if that was intentional but damn, men are men aren't they. lol

As for the actual story line/world building. Weak in the world building but strong in the action/adventure scenes. The author brings in multiple twists and turns that definitely add value and interest. I'm now getting a feel regarding the motive of evil Degrens and a possible new ally for Kaldar in the Altus. Not saying much about either except .... DAMN.

The cast of secondary characters is quite impressive and add a lot to the story. Still a big fan of Merrick (from the previous installment) but now have Laen, Karac, Calzen, Gina, Kinric, and an unnamed 'someone' who comes into the picture near the near the end of the story (don't want to do a spoiler as this person stole my heart). Can't wait for some of these to get their own story. :D

The author did mention that this story can be read as a stand alone. I'm more reluctant to endorse that as there are cameo from previous installment and the world building is addressed more in the previous installment. If possible, I'd highly recommend starting with the first installment for those reasons.

I do want to mention one last thing. The author included an emotional subplot crisis that definitely had me in tears. While I commend the progression of onset to HFN status, the whole issue needed more exposure in the overall story. The issue itself came across rushed and condensed. It was a highly charged sort of thing that deserved to be fleshed out more than it was. Bad things happen to good people. I, as a reader, don't like when that happens but also am not a fan when these sorts of things evolve in a rushed sort of way.

Totally enjoying this series and can't wait for Calzen's story (no publish date yet).

I totally enjoyed this story, it's even better than the first one. I like how Darrok really had to work at building a relationship with Samantha. I am not a fan of characters who instantly fall in love. He was arrogant enough to think it would happen but surprise! Earth girls are NOT easy, especially a smart and independent woman like Sam. I also like the fact that after being tortured (mentally) by the Altu king, she was still not 100% whole at the end of the book. She was healing but she was not perfect nor should she be. Perhaps it is because I have a little grandson who has TBI due to a brain tumor that was removed at age 9 months. He struggles every day, just like the character Samantha. I wish he had a person like Zantar to help him. We love him regardless, just like Darrok, Ashley, and others in the story. As you can see, I definitely relate to the character Samantha. - Kelly Corke

DNF at 58%

The computer-security-nonsense annoyed me to no end. It all was just so far-fetched and implausible. I don’t expect an author of alien romance to actually research how exactly computers and security work, but if a story solely revolves around that topic it might be a good idea to do at least a bit of investigation.

Beside that Samantha was described as extremely smart but constantly failed to show me her intelligence. She was boring and on too many occasions plain arrogant. She pretended to be a strong female just to cave in the first moment the hero had raised his voice. Darrok on the other side was a nice male hero and with a real strong woman on his side who would be capable of having an opinion and stand for it, this story would throw out sparks.

Sweet!

Another great story in this series. I couldn't put it down. The author had a very creative story line for Samantha and Darrok. You can feel the love between the characters without every other chapter having a sex scene. She also introduced some new characters and I hope she continues this series by adding their stories to it. Truly a great book. It was a long time between stories but worth the wait and I can't wait for the next one!

This series is so good. I read them so quickly. I loved the characters and the story. They left me with a book hangover that I am still battling :) the characters are relatable and you find yourself rooting for the warriors and hoping they all find their turemate. I cannot wait for the third book to come out.

It seemed like I just opened the book,, was beamed into a running, spinning roller coaster ride. Every emotion possible rung out of me and then dropped off on the other side wanting to go again. I am getting back in line.... Give me more....

This didn't disappoint

The writing in this series is fluid. I enjoyed seeing old characters and they didn't distract from the main plot. It does need a little editing but I felt it didn't detract from the story as a whole. Would heartily recommend reading. Support indie artists.

Loved it!

I liked the excitement and the relationship between Samantha and darrok. The only thing I missed in the book was the fire. Put a little fire in your books. You get to it and then you skip it.

Aliens needing mates

Sam is smart and IT Expert. On the run from the alien call up.
However one alien has been on the look out for her for 5 months.
This story is full of adventure. A great book barring a few typos.
