Glass Dildos, Cursed Princes, and Anarchic Revolution.
... Everything you missed out on the last time you heard about this Fairy Princess.
This 35,000 word novella is a standalone, and was written for your enjoyment.
This is a Dark, Fantasy Erotica Retelling, with elements of Power Exchange, Explicit Sex Scenes, and more of a twist than any Cinderella Story you've read thus far. I can promise you that it will be worth it in the end.
A very steamy story with a quick pace, many hot scenes, a few twists, and a little adventure! It is certainly a unique modern fairytale story based on Cinderella told by our heroine Cinder and well it was really promising and after been said that I have to say that the plot was a little bit confusing for me. It had good "ingredients" and I really like this kind of stories but in the execution, some parts in the story didn't work out for me that is the reason I put 3+ stars and that's totally my personal opinion and doesn't mean that it won't work out for someone else.
I received a free copy from the author, no strings attached.
Another retelling of Cinderella, though this one was a lot different.
Cinderella, or Cinder, has not maintained the virtue of our normal Once Upon A Time stories. Cinder is part of a whore house. And when the Dragon Prince comes, a curse is enacted.
Syn Root can obviously write. Her dialogue is well structured and her descriptions are well worded, though some words may have been over used. However, there was a lack of world development. But I must clarify, Ms. Root perfectly told the story of how Cinderella came to be in little stories at the beginning of each chapter, but once the present is being described, I just didn't understand what was going on.
Also, call me little or innocent, but I'm not a fan of erotic novels. When Syn Root asked me to read her novel, I was told it was another retelling of Cinderella, but darker. By the time I realized who Cinderella was, I couldn't say no because I already gave my word.
But Ms. Root did not dictate the entire novel to "bed scenes". There was a curse and magic.
The book may have come to an unsatisfying ending, me wanting more and all, but I know this novel will become loved by readers who enjoy a little erotic twists to princess stories.
Thank you Ms. Root for allowing me the chance to read your work!
The imagination and creativity is unlike any Cinderella I've read. I wish I had known before diving into this one that cinder our main character was a whore who worked in a theater setting whore house it's says she works for and does fantasy peep shows ( I thought maybe something similar to stripper exotic dancer but not that she was a whore). I got confused at a few points, not going into detail I think the world building could use a little more. However the detail and description was on point for the most part.
This book is not my norm so I'm having some issues rating it. I never connected with the characters. Cinder being a whore was definitely a down side for me, I like my characters naughty, cum sluts but only in certain situations, I don't like when the characters are actual whores. The next down fall for me is I don't like one sided pov. I wanna know all the characters pov.
These are just my pet peeves. I'd definitely recommend to people who don't have the same pet peeves. It's got a lot of creativity and the imagination that was put into this was good.
So this was my first book by this author. Definitely a very naughty & dark take on Cinderella. She works in a brothel, where they cater to fantasies and perform them in front of the audience. Very dark in deed, but then if anyone else would have done the original Cinderella other than Disney....it would have been darker anyway, but throw in some singing and it lightened the whole thing up.
I thought the writing was pretty good, but at times it was a little hard to follow the dialogue for me. But I did think it was an interesting concept, with a political undertone. Maybe not quite my normal book, but I still thought it was pretty good.
If you're looking for a dark & naughty read....then this is the book for you.
I've never read anything by Syn Root before. This genre, whatever you may call it, is not something I'm usually drawn too. Cinder was nothing I thought it would be. I didn't connect with any of the characters and I was often confused about the plot and where the story was going. I did think the writing was decent, and I felt the sense that Root really liked writing it, but there was very little dialogue and the internal conversations of the main character, Fox were rather choppy and all over the place. The chapter intros were really odd and the editing requires some assistance but I do appreciate the authors choice in sticking with what she likes. There was a good sense of the theme throughout the whole book. I just wish I was able to jive with it more.
First of all I would like to thank the author for sending me a copy of this book.
I will admit I was a little worried about reading this when I saw it was erotica. That's not a genre I usually read. However, this was not a bad read at all. There was sex of course but there was so much more to the story than that. I loved how the author added a magic element to the story. It made it more interesting. I'm glad that I decided to give this a try.
I enjoyed this book the sex was a little more hard core than I am used to that being said the story was quite good although I found the ending not as satisfying as I would have hoped and there were a few mistakes so that I had to re-read some of the sentences a few times to work out what the author was saying which in turn threw me out of the story hence the 3 stars perhaps with a bit of proof reading and a better ending this book would go from quite good to a great book as I think this author has great potential and I would definitely read more from this author whom I have no doubt will only get better.
This is a good read, but not your typical erotica.
I'm just going to say this, this book was deep and philosophical while being hot and heavy. The introspection of the narrator drove the action of the story in an intriguing and intricate way. I really liked this story because of the psychological aspects. Good read.
This was an interesting take on Cinderella the fairy tale. It was racy, but tastefully written. Cinder performs in a brothel theater. It is her escape from her abusive step-mother and step-sisters. In a magnificent performance, a curse and a rebellion is born. She aided and rescued by an mysterious guest. I voluntarily read/reviewed this ARC.
It started out okay. The author had a writing style that was unique and all was going well. Then mid point of the book spelling errors and other mistakes made the read difficult and frustrating. It started to make no sense. Just forget it. Not worthy even one star.
I like the way Syn Root delivers the sexual and sensual qualities of her characters in her stories. Disappointed with the cliffhanger in the tale. Will we ever find out what happens?
This kept me enthralled i always wanted to know ok what's going to happen next. This did end on a cliff but i didn't mind the cliff she really made me want to continue reading.
Cinder: Dark Fairy Tale Erotica (Urban Fantasy Faeries Book 1) I received a free no strings attached copy of this book from the author.
This is a dark retelling of Cinderella, each chapter starts with an excerpt from the original Cinderella. It is interesting to see the way in which the story has similarities to the original story, but at the same time has become something completely different and unique in its own right. I am a fan of retellings of traditional fairy tales as I love seeing what different authors can do with the same basic storyline.
This book does contain some dark erotica during the theatre scenes at the start of the book, however after she leaves the theatre there are only a few more small scenes that contain explicitly sexual content (so if you don't like the erotica, keep reading and you'll get past it, but if you do like the erotica then just be aware that there is less of it as the story progresses). This also means that as the story progresses it becomes more plot focused rather than sex focused. It also becomes more in line with the original Cinderella as the step-mother and sisters are introduced.
There are a few places where a little more editing would be useful to tidy up the spelling, grammar and understanding, but for me this did not detract from the overall story too much. There are a couple of places where you wonder where the story is actually heading, but it generally becomes clear as you read on.
Overall, I enjoyed this story. Particularly the initial scenes in the theatre, I felt these were well written and exciting. I would definitely be interested in checking out more books by Root at some point in the future.
Good modern spin on the Cinderella theme. It was steam and enticing, but there were parts where I was confused about the plot. Also, I appreciate good diction and good writing, but I think some of the way things were worded made me think twice and go back and re-read them. But overall, the story was enjoyable. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
