Jim Brady, one time Able Seaman, promoted out of the ranks, had his first command-Captain of the destroyer, Scourge, and in charge of a fleet of destroyers and submarines.It was peace time, so there should have been no danger on what was a routine "seek and destroy" manoeuvre-Operation Subsmash was ready to be put into action.And the day came when Subsmash was signalled round the fleet.
