The Master of Arts in History programme is offered by the Centre for Historical Studies at the Jawaharlal Nehru University The programme aims ay specializing students in Ancient History Medieval History or Modern History along with set of common courses designed to survey historiography and historical methods and broad patterns of socio-economic and political formations and structural changes covering the Ancient Medieval and Modern periods. Admission to MA History programme at the JNU is done on the basis of marks scores in the written entrance examination. The present book has been designed for the aspirants preparing for MA History Entrance Examination at JNU. This book has been divided into five sections namely Ancient History Medieval History Modern History World History and Approaches Themes in History each sub-divided into number of chapters containing chapterwise previous years solved questions. Each chapter in the five sections contains theoretical explanation for the important topics which need to be covered in detail along with ample number of previous years solved problems which will help in effective study of the concepts covered in the chapter. Also at the end of each chapter self assessment test has been given which will help in practice and self analysis of the level of understanding of the concepts covered in that particular chapter. The book also contains three practice sets which have been designed on the lines of the previous years entrance examination pattern of JNU MA History Entrance Examination. To help the aspirants get an insight into the type of questions and the level of questions asked in the examinations last eight years 2008-2015 Solved Papers of MA History Entrance Examination have also been provided in the book.
