Sink

Sink: Veins of Fire

Rate this book
A sinkhole is a natural phenomenon. It can happen anywhere, anytime. It drinks lakes dry, consumes jungles, and even demolishes entire mountains. You may have seen one in your street. But these things aren’t lost. They’ve simply been moved. Things are forgotten on the surface all the time. Beneath the crust, they’re always remembered.

The world bleeds veins of fire. The native creatures are dying out. There's one chance of survival. Can the family find the Passage before it's too late?

SINK. A forgotten world. A lost world. But not for long.

now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.

The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.

i would highly recommend this author and this book.

What I enjoyed most about this book is its completely unique and interesting story. Usually when I read this type of genre I can pretty much predict what will happen, this is not the case with Sink. You quickly get drawn in and find yourself eagerly awaiting what happens next. This excitement I think can be attributed to the way in which Briar writes action scenes and they're very easy to visualise.

The Characters are relatable and more importantly likeable. The way the family dynamic is created is rather clever, as Briar has clearly put thought into the fact that this is not a 'normal' family and as such you're presented with interesting relationships that help create depth to their characters and you really do find yourself hoping that they all come out on top.

I enjoyed the Rosetta and the Admiral 'prelude' (for lack of a better word), however, I did find it confused me a bit once the main story started. I almost wish those two character had a whole book dedicated to them.

The only negative I will note is that you really have to be paying attention when you read. If you're the type of person who skim reads, or who reads a book in small batches I feel that you may end up getting confused, as there is a lot that is going on.

Sink by perrin briar is a mystery and thriller adventure read.
A monster terrorizes a medieval town. The townspeople are being murdered. Dead bodies rise from hell. One member of town is responsible for it all. But who?
A very good read. Even though I haven't read the others in this series. I will now. I really enjoyed it. It felt like I was there with them. I was completely engrossed in this book. Highly recommended. 5*.

I started reading this book without reading any previous installments - so at first it was kind of hard to understand what was going on.

At times the story feels convoluted and difficult to follow, but overall it is entertaining.

It is worth a reading to be sure.

This series is great. Every book gets better than the one before it. I don't know where the ideas come from, but I welcome them with open arms.

Briar has breathed fresh air into this subject and, boy, does the reader get sucked into this world. I felt physically sick at the descriptions of the gravity changes. Some of the storyline is a bit unbelievable, but then the tale happens in a place where you leave your belief at the first sinkhole!

Exciting, enjoyable, and wonderfully addictive - bring on the next one. Loved it.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an eARC of this book.
