4/5 Stars!

I have loved this series for over a year now, and let me tell you I was so excited and nervous for this beloved series to end. Very bittersweet, in so many ways.

Nate, Ransley and Roydon have a lot of work to do now after losing one of their own. Everyone is out of their minds with grief and anger. They need to put a stop to Roman before its too late.

Things change and our emotions are thrown to the wolves when Kowallis tears our heart out to see one of our own come to life. With emotions at an all time high, everyone is fighting and no one trusts each other. Turmoil boiling up threatening to break the group apart before taking down the Public. An incredible book that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

This is unfortunately had a couple of slow moments so it wont be getting five stars from me and some of the different PoV chapters I thought weren't necessary. But other than that, this was an incredible conclusion to one of the best dystopian series I have read.

"Years ago, we were designed to be the first of our kind, and today, we will be the end."

It's not every day you stumble upon a series that challenges your mindset and questions your existence. There's the kind that gives you the tingles, some wrapped around your heart like a warm blanket, others might induce a slight shiver, and then there's the kind that stopped you dead in your tracks, stunned you into a reading stupor and you, for once, felt goosebumps on your skin because everything, EVERYTHING, was earth-shattering and mind-numbingly good.

Requesting a reviewing opportunity for Afterimage was the best dang decision I have ever made.

Until today, I thank God for helping me discovering this hidden gem.

After my fair share of post-apocalyptic novels, there's a certain element that you ought to expect from a dystopian plot. But fair warning, I've experienced NOTHING quite like the Enertia Trials, J.Kowallis proved to be a brilliant mastermind yet again. From Afterimage to Encender and Duality, each book was so unique and cleverly written it has a voice of its own. I loved Nate and Reggie in Afterimage, Ransley and Roydon in Encender, and ended with a massive heartbreak in Duality. But Dominion, oh, it triumphed them all.

In the end, there’s only one target that matters: Roman—and they’ll do anything to stop him from claiming dominion.

With the devastating turn of events in Duality and that cliffhanger ending, I was more than ready to dive into Dominion, yet it killed me to just know that things will be worse than it already is. My heart ached for Nate, he who has suffered so much from the start only to have someone he loved ripped away from him once again. I wanted to read Dominion because I was curious enough to how the story would continue, especially with an essential character of the story gone (which was a first for me), but J. Kowallis has the superpower to catch you blindsided, her plot twists will catch you off guard and she did exactly just that with the prologue.

The world building was the one aspect that amazed me to no end. The detail in the setting was so vivid, I felt every word. Running through the Public roads, dodging attacks from the Public Guards, Roy splitting into gazillion Roys and Ransley setting everything on fire, it was action packed alright, I haven't had so much fun in ages! The mass destruction blew my brain to bits, no, I'm pretty sure Ransley fried them.

And if there's a person who could rock multiple POV's, yes! You found her! I've never read a book with so many characters and voices and still able to connect with them all at an emotional level. I couldn't bring myself to hate any one of them, not even Roman. I should probably add that Nate, Reggie, Roy and Ransley's POVS are my favorite (duh). I loved the fact that the characters are so diverse and unique, and we get a chance to see the story through their eyes, to understand who they are and what they are all fighting for.

Not to mention, the story kept you guessing till the end! Every chapter was a new mystery to solve and new crappy problems to deal with. Ugh. All the frustration and anger, I felt it deep in my bone, yet I appreciated the fact that the author does not sugarcoat the harsh reality to soften the blow, I ate it up like a kid starving for candy on Halloween and craved for even more. I was holed up in my reading cave, racing through the pages like a madwoman on a dateline, and trust me when I emerged 6 hours later, bruised and scarred yet with the utter feeling of contentment. IT WAS PERFECT.

One on hand, I am glad that it was all over, on the other, I'm not ready to let all of them go. It was sad that the series has come to an end, but their story will forever be one that is close to my heart (sappy much?)

The series shifted the paradigm of the dystopian genre, hands down, the best one I've read yet!

Huge Thanks to J. Kowallis for sending this book to me in exchange for a review as well including me in the acknowledgement. 💖

Here's my honest thoughts for Dominion, the last book in The Enertia Trials. I can't ever describe properly how much I have this book and the entire series in general. This book has constant action and will always keep you on the edge of your seat, praying that your favourite character doesn't die. Everyone who has love the past three books will love this installment too! And anyone who hasn't read the series yet, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?? Please read this!!! This book and its predecessors deserve all the stars in the world. This series will remain one of my most favourite dystopian series ever. I am planning to do a book talk on the series soon, so I can talk more about how I am so emotionally in love with these books! 😍

I don't know if I should cry because such an amazing series has come to an end, or be happy because it couldn't have ended in a better way. :')

THE WRITING. Its wholly fantastic! I love how the author eventually got a hold of me right at the very beginning by dangling that "bone" in front of me. It had me kept on reading just to make sure that its really happening and not just a way to torture my feels in anyway possible. I love how J. Kowallis knows the weakness of her readers. I mean, because of that bone, I ended up devouring the whole of the book in just one sitting. But still, the whole time I was reading until I reach the midpart of the book, I was still: Is this really happening? Did she really gave us this?

50479-felicia-day-is-this-real-life-84rr

THE PLOT. Remember that "bone" I was talking about? Yeah, J. Kowallis is thevery first author I encountered who dropped an effig big ass bomb right at the very beginning. I love how that "big ass bomb" made a play in the plot and it didn't feel like forced or a way to redeem something to her readers because of the heart shattering third book (Duality). I love how it all unraveled and fell into place and how everything turned out at the end.

Emma-Booklandia12

THE CHARACTERS. There was a shift in the characters of everyone in the team in this book, especially Nate who just got his heart ripped out of his chest after the death of the woman he loved. I like how we get to witness everyone's way of dealing with their depression post Reggie. The most heartbreaking was Nate's for we watch him spiral down into that deep pit of depression and PTSD. I made me cry when he resorted to "that" decision. But I so much loved it when his old self and character had a comeback when he found his love again. The twist in Ransley's character was kind of a little unexpected because I actually thought that she's "gone over the fence" but when everything fell into place, I just wanna say that Rans is one hell of a bad ass woman. There are also cute moments in the book especially with London and Staci, being the only teens in this world of adults, it so cute to watch them get a grasp of their raging hormones. Let's talk about another bad ass and that is Roydon! I'm gonna refer to an Avengers meme to describe how bad ass he is;
969252ff9987b0d78c8f65ac0618bae8c37ae915cfe946ff3ffbaa7a3fcbafdeThat's how bad ass my cinnamon roll Roydon is. I like how the Rising was introduced to us, kind of made me think of the rebels from THG but at some point they quite differ since the head of the rebellion doesn't thirst for power the way Coin did in THG. Can we talk about Suhong? Because the moment she is introduced, we know we're gonna hate that bitch. Like every time she's got herself a screen time in the book I was groaning with annoyance and muttering "Fuck off, bitch!". I was actually picturing her as the actress who played Courtney in the 13 Reasons Why TV show. Gahhh! I hate her. There's also this one character that I love so much and was so proud the the development and strength that this character showed that made my admiration rise through the roof!

THE ENDING. Its just so perfect. The ending had me in tears not because its so sad and heartbreaking but its wonderful and touching. It left me smiling to myself after I finished reading the book. I appreciate and admire how J. Kowallis ended her book series. Who knows, there could be more stories to be told in the world of The Enertia Trails

"... If this choice was going to end them both, they'd go to hell together, and he wanted nothing more."
I've been dreading the writing of this review because it meant that I've officially put this series behind me and it's killing me to no end. I never wanted this series to end but here we are... If you haven't read this series yet, I hope you do so as soon as you're done reading this review!!
Since this is the last book in this saga, I'm not really going to get into the plot (because spoilers) but I will say that it follows our beloved characters as they deal with all sorts of grief that comes from war. We see them as they try to learn how to overcome the paralyzing consequences that can come from having a loved one (or several, in some cases) taken from you. I took their sorrow and heartbreak personally which added to my own over witnessing it all.
This book picks up right after the last one and I must admit, the fact that it was a bit slow in the beginning made me a tiny bit hesitant to continue. I was already dealing with a ginormous book slump (still am) so I decided to set it aside for a bit until I could actually force myself to sit down and read. As soon as I was able to do so, I found it picking up very quickly so I basically had nothing to worry about and wasted precious time. (Typical Cassandra, I swear.) I flew through Dominion like there was no tomorrow and I will forever regret. I wish I could've somehow savored this novel until my last breath.
I spent the good first half of this novel in sad tears and the second half in happy tears. This book left me trembling from emotional overload. I was physically and emotionally exhausted by the end and just threw myself at my bed to give myself a moment to catch up with the real world. This was 400+ pages of pure torture, of the best kind. Every word felt carefully chosen and sharpened precisely to tear apart a reader's heart. A part of me didn't want to keep going but Kowallis' words are so addicting that they won out in the end. Each page was more beautifully tragic than the last and I couldn't get enough.
J. Kowallis outdid herself in this installment and I fell in love with how she handled each character's development. They've come so far since book 1 and I am still in awe from it all. I don't know how to say goodbye to them so I'm not going to. I'm just going to say, until next time... (HUGE WINKS TO JERNAE)

DOMINION BY: J. KOWALLIS "The future always changes. Like water ripples interrupted by a falling stick, the afterimage can be disrupted, and in the end, only the strongest claim dominion."

What just happened to me? I am convinced that Kowallis's goal was to have her readers feeling as completely ravaged as her characters felt. Well mam,

You broke me.

Over and over again. You had me doubting EVERYTHING. I was stuck in this place of unyielding paranoia. I had to question pretty much everyone, even people I would have sworn were unwavering in their cause. Even my FAVORITE characters were not safe. Even if it was just for a brief moment, I doubted their intentions, I wondered if they could possibly be going darkside.

And I can just picture you sitting there after finishing writing Dominion cackling with your evil author laugh like...

Dominion was an intense, high anxiety adrenaline rush that does not relent until the very end. And I would not give back a moment of it. Thankfully, Kowallis somehow manages to sneak in a few really sweet moments that end up feeling even more precious because they are happening amidst the sheer chaos going on around them. I also think this book especially highlights just how wonderfully complex the characters are in this series. Each one shows such a wide range in Dominion. No one is the same as they were when they started out in this journey, which is what you want to see by the last book. Even when you were seeing the worst of them they still had your heart, even if, as Roy so eloquently put it, they have that "damn stubbornness and piece-of-shit attitudes that make people want to hit you in the face with a hammer.". Just another reason I adore Roy. That man is a ROCK. I never ceased to be amazed by how stead-fast he was through everything, and he stayed true to that through all the insanity he had to endure in this one.

It is really hard to fully gush about this book because there are just so many things that would spoil the full experience of it and I refuse to do that. If you've come this far with the series I promise that Dominion does not disappoint. You'll feel like a war torn mess after reading it, but you will also feel a sense of peace and hopefulness at the end. Which considering everything that went down in this series, is more than you can ask for.

Now, if you're one of the unfortunate souls that has not yet started this series...WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

It is complete now, and if dystopian is something you like than this series is a DO NOT MISS! I truly can't recommend it enough.

I am sad to say goodbye to this series, but I am completely fulfilled and content with the way it ended. And I CAN'T WAIT to see what J. Kowallis comes up with next!

Excellent...as usual

J. Kowallis has once again astounded her readers with a dystopian tale rich with emotions and secrets. When Duality concluded, I was terribly upset, but Dominion has managed to tie up all the loose ends that made me upset, and provided proof of a future that can once again be bright. Kowallis seems to effortlessly weave a web of happiness, destruction, despair, anger, and love into a tale of something bigger than her characters, something that could affect a world. Many compliments to J. Kowallis for an excellent wrap up of her series. I am sad to see the series end, but I guarantee that I will be revisting this world and these characters many times over. If you want a fabulous dystopian romance, this book is a great one to read. Though it would be much more beneficial to read the first three books in the series first, there is an element of stand alone reading. This book can be picked up and thoroughly enjoyed by itself in the sense that there is enough information to tie it to the first three that the reader would not be entirely lost.

**I received a copy of the e-book from the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion on the book.**

As much of an unnatural way of starting a review this line is,I'll still go with it cause this is going to be a bit of  informal fangirling the reasons for which will also be included below. Also the line came out all wrong, but it's okay.

This book, this final book in the series 'The Enertia Trials',is just worth it.It's worth going through all the pain and sadness and heart wrenching loses. And no,I'm not even being biased, though this really is my favourite dystopian series. The plot of this is just perfect for a final book. You would think that a series being so long  would crash or go downhill, but trust me,it doesn't ,it's like a roller coaster that only goes up (That's the TFIOS loving me talking, don't mind ).

I'm not going to talk the writing, character development and storyline here, cause I did them in all the other three books and I'll add the links at the end of the review so you can totally go check them out there.Just a single line, whatever my opinion about the general aspects of the book were, they still hold now. :D

But I'll still talk about the cover.Like c'mon, how could I not? They are such simple yet highly alluring covers and they are just right for the storyline and of course, the title too.And oh,the title fit so well too! *adds title and cover to the list of Reasons Why I Love This Series*

Straight to the characters cause I can't wait longer. Nate aka Rambo is still an ass(more of that actually, lol)Ransley ,our Harpy is still her kickass self, and well, she has secrets of her own here,Roydon,he's still the hot guy he has always been. And yes, about Reggie......she's still under the ground *smug face * You'll know what I actually mean once you read the book of course. The whole book is a nail biting adventure ,and it keeps you on your toes and I would have totally read it in one sitting had I not been required to go out #lifeinterruptsreadingtime #weneedaseparatereadingdayeveryweek . You won't ever stop hating Roman.Wait,is there someone who likes him?I won't judge you if you do,just asking.I like London's character development in this.He grows up.Like physically, mentally, and a few other ways *winks*.

Besides these main characters, you get to meet a lot of new characters. Some that you'll love, some that you'll like and some  that will make you experience the 'hate at first sight' feeling. But they all play a role.Damn, none of them are just there for filling the pages. And you get to meet some characters from the previous books too!

I already told that the plot is a roller coster. The one that scares you to hell and also gives you that euphoric feeling. It is going to wrench your heart out and shatter it into pieces ,leaving you to believe that you'll never get it back, only to get it back wrapped in precious velvet.Cause that ending, the characters deserve it.They deserve to be happy.

This book made me cry so bad, especially the ending and now,I'm going to miss these characters.I'll miss reading their adventures the first time, afresh

Dominion is hands down the best book of the year for me, no doubt! I would give it a million stars, a standing ovation and a thousand round of applause to the author if I could.

I love everything about this book! Absolutely everything from the suspense, the excitement and especially their sneaky schemings and secret plannings. It just makes me at the edge of my seat, reading the story from paragraph to another, seeing how it evolves.

My favourite OTP is definitely Reggie and Nate! They're so precious and I just feel like protecting them from any harm that comes over their way. Especially because death likes to catch onto them. I know that they're going to have a bright future ahead of them especially with their bundle of joy and ahhhh I just can't be more happy for them. I actually feel kind of scared for whoever has to come across Reggie's wrath because isn't she just badass? She totally is. She's like the walking definition of the word.

Ransley. I did kind of doubt that she was actually going to turn her allegiance but come on, you know better than to hear what Ramos says. But I'm glad that it was all for a show. Roydon is like the most fun and amusing character. He always make me laugh with his antics.

Stupid Ramos! At last, you get what you deserve.

I am just so happy with the ending - about how everything turns out and falls perfectly in place. It just honestly feels like the most beautiful and important ending there is. I'm so relieved and so happy about the outcome. I'd like to thank the author, for not killing the four main characters because they have all suffered so much already. And also thank you for writing such a great book, amazing series. It is my utmost pleasure to read it. So, thank you very much!

I look forward to the author's next work and I know I will as long as she continues to publish books. You are an inspiration to me and hopefully to everyone who reads your story too.

What a finale! I flew through this book way too fast. From the very first page Dominion grabbed on to me tightly and didn't let go until the very end. It was non-stop action the entire way through. I didn't want to put it down and wouldn't have it wasn't for the lack of sleep I was running on. This is a book you will want to devour in one sitting.

This conclusion to the brilliant Enertia Trials series lacked for absolutely nothing! Most of the time we read a book series, only to be let down by the final book. This was not the case here at all. There was never a dull moment. It picked up right where Duality left off and there were subtle hints along the way to remind me of how Duality ended so that I wasn't confused by anything that was going on. It sparked my memory and I easily got right back into this world with some of my favorite characters.

Just like with the other books in the series Dominion has great surprises, and twists and turns. Things get more intense and involved. It is another adventure that you will not want to end. It was so much fun to read. I can easily say that this was my favorite read of the year so far. I don't know how she did it, but she managed to pack so much punch into one novel and make it flow so effortlessly. This one just might be the most exciting to read of all the four books. It was so fast-paced, but never confusing.

If you are looking for a dystopian series different from any other, and that will keep you interested and you will enjoy every second of reading-pick this one up. I promise you it will be worth every penny you spend. It's pure entertainment and a series that I would DIE to see on screen one day.

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SERIES FOR YEARS!! I read this on my kindle back when I was like 13 years old and have been searching for this series since then because i completely forgot the name. I LOVED the first couple books but this last book is honestly one of the worst pieces of literature I have ever read: first off, homegirls dug herself out of a coffin wtf that was the weirdest thing I’ve ever read in a book, her bf moved on from the “love of his life” in a shockingly short amount of time. And overall the plot of the last book was a DUMPSTERFIRE. No hate to the author I know it’s hard to end a series but honestly I think she should have ended with the last book because having a girl die the dog herself out of a coffin by kicking the coffin open and unburying herself was genuinely traumatizing. To this day this series is BURNED into my memory because of how weird it is and how all over the place this last book is. One paraphrased quote I remember from the second or maybe third book is “she hurt my balls but now they’re about to get something nice” after the fire chick accidentally like kicked or kneed or something to the duplication dudes groin and like bro that’s got to be one of the weirdest possible things someone could say in a situation where they think they might get laid. Anyway like I said no hate to the author but not a fan of the ending it was disappointing to an overall good story and good series.

Hmmmm

A sleight let down. Disappointed in the hero getting over the death of the love of his life in few months and getting involved with a bimbo. The best thing about the hero was his steadfastness and this installment ruined it. The romance of secondary couple was lame. No excuse for not killing the most evil character.

Solid Ending to the Series

I think Kowalis has a natural talent for writing, and the series got better with each new installment. There are still a few grammar and spelling issues, and a missed word here and there, but overall, it's a good story.

This book gave the ending it deserves. Seriouslyyyyy.

I love the series. I remembered picking it up because I want to try it out and ended up loving the characters. I was amazed in the world it has and I felt being a part of a big revolution.

Im having a big hangover right now because of this book and I even forgot that it is the last book which is very heartbreaking for me.

Yes, the final book of the Enertia Trials series. Will they get the peace they deserve will they be free? You have to find it out.

At the very first , I felt the pain Reggie felt, I felt like Im buried so deep, dead. Many things changed because of that especially Nate.

As the book goes on, more revelations hitting me just to make sure I get a big mix of emotions. I keep getting hyped, hoping and praying that nobody will die because seriously, I love Roydon and Ransley and I want them to have the happy ending they deserved. In general, I don't want everybody to die except the characters I hate.

This book played my emotions a lot. A worthy conclusion to the series. You feel everything burning in front of you and as a reader, I can't help but cry because you only do is read and wait for something to happen.

I love you author for this wonderful series. This is one of the best ones I read and I might have a hard time recovering because of this.

5 stars for this book.
