This book is meant for the reader who has a basic understanding of brain anatomy. You don't necessarily need to have an understanding of cat brain anatomy but of human brain anatomy as the two are very similar and share the same basic structures. It is a book meant for the veterinarian; but I highly recommend it for all those who want to have a better and more in depth understanding of the feline creature that we call our kitties. Highly recommended. :) Science based all the way!!!

I have the 2nd edition of this book. I read it from cover to cover. It leaves some things out. I'd like to see a book on housecat behavior. We have coyotes and therefore cannot let our cats outside. I do, however, return to this book again and again. It has a fold-out of feline gaits. and photos of different play and defensive behaviors. When I sketch cats, I often pick up this book and skim for key aspects of behavior, so that drawing display emotions and intentions correctly.

Well referenced. Thought it was interesting the author recommended Depo Provera for so many behavior problems. I have not heard of this before, and I imagine it must be an off label use?
