Lisa knows she can't just abandon dragon shifter Verrian when he's been separated from the rest of his clan by a nosy reporter, but why did they have to end up at her parent's place? They always make her feel less than nothing, and now they're embarrassing her in front of the hot dragon shifter prince. When a blurry picture of Verrian ends up in the newspaper and the locals come knocking, it seems like the perfect excuse to run for the hills.
Lisa has a lot of experience with running away from problems, but could Verrian be worth facing up to her fears and fighting for?
Verrian feels bad for putting Lisa in such an uncomfortable position, but the truth is he is out of his depth when dealing with the problems faced in the human's world. After failing miserably in the last dragon battle, he doesn't feel capable of dealing the threat of his ancient enemy either. Verrian needs a new tactic.
Lisa might not have dragon strength or magic, but she seems to hold her own in spite of that. Maybe she can teach Verrian about more than just human technology.
Rinelle Grey is no stranger to alternate lifestyles. She grew up in a variety of different homes, including a riverside shack with no electricity or running water, and even a tent. She and her sister spent their childhood chasing goats, climbing trees, eating peas and corn out of their mother’s vegetable garden, and occasionally rushing to get their correspondence school work in on time. Despite the difficulties of this lifestyle, she wouldn’t swap it for all the luxuries in the world (though she is rather fond of her running hot water and indoor plumbing now!)
She met her husband in ‘Family Therapy’, an elective they were both taking as part of their psychology degrees. It took several years for them to get together, in fact, their roleplaying characters got together before they did!
They married on the beach at sunrise in 2002, two months after Rinelle popped the question.
Although she had always loved to write, it wasn’t until her daughter was about eighteen months old that Rinelle started writing seriously. Probably not the best stage in terms of having spare time! And time only became scarcer when her daughter gave up her day sleep six months later. But by then, Rinelle had well and truly caught the writing bug, finding time somehow to continue with her passion. Her fast typing speed learnt from spending way too much time chatting on IRC, and the investment in an iPad when they came out, helped immensely.
Rinelle now lives on acreage with her husband and homeschooled daughter. In her spare time, she sells stock photography through an online site to support her family, and is hoping that writing will be able to add to that.

Short but good story about dragons waking up in modern times after being sleeping for three hundred years. Both of the main characters are very insecure and have a very low self esteem. After hearing a little of there individual story, I get why that is but its getting a little annoying. And I just don't know where to begin when it comes to Lisa's family...I just wanted to jump in my kindle and just B slap that brother of hers and the reporter. Now onto book #3 and find out how life in the city will work for Lisa and Verrain until they can get him back to his lair.
While Lisa and Verrain are trying to keep a low profile, Rita publishes the picture of Verrain turning from dragon to human. And even though the picture is really blurry people flock to her parents house to get more information. She also stakes out the house almost making it impossible to leave without being followed. This is a must read, and you will want to get the next book in this series.
Short but good. This is a story of dragons waking up in modern times. After sleeping for hundreds of years. The world has changed and the poor dragon shifters are overwhelmed. There's so much to learn. How in the world are they going to get an ID. By the way what is an ID?
This is for those who enjoy the paranormal. These books are very quick reads, intrigue, fights, and sexual tension, without being blatant. Each picks up where last left off. But know that each apparently ends on a cliff-hanger. This series is a serial, not a complete couples book. Like it though it can be expensive for some.
I read this series out of order so I have a few books to read for more of the back story and to better understand all the characters. Great short reads.
I received a copy of Cunning Dragon by Rinelle Grey in exchange for an honest review. Note: this review contains spoilers! In the first book in this series, Lisa woke Verrian in his Mesmer chamber with a kiss and making love. Now they are hiding out from Rita the a nosy reporter and the the lightning dragons. Unfortunately, the only place Lisa could think of to go was her parents housei, someplace she'd really rather not be. Her brother Paul was the golden child and everything Lisa did was wrong. She was a screwup, a disappointment. Even if she had moved out and gotten a job in the city and had her own apartment. According to her parents, it wouldn't last. The final straw this time is Rita printing a very blurry picture of what she says is a dragon and leads everyone to Lisa's parent's house. Lisa know they need to leave as soon as possible and the best time to do it is at night. When Paul uncharacteristically lends Lisa and Verrian his car, Lisa jumps at the chance. Although they originally get away from Rita thanks to Verrian, Rita, Paul, and a young lightning dragon show up the next day. Paul steals Rita's car and drives off in fear as the 2 dragons start fighting, but Rita just takes more pictures. You'll have to read the story to find out what happens next. As in all of her books, the author has given the reader unique individuals. Lisa is successful, but sees herself through her family's eyes as a failure. Verrian thinks she is wonderful, a true warrior as she stands up to Rita. Verrian thinks he is a failure because he is a sound dragon and doesn't have a real dragon weapon to use against the the lightning dragons. Lisa sees him as a hero. He shifted right in front of Rita and fought to keep her safe even if he didn't like her. Rita thinks everyone should know about the dragons, that they have a right to know. But slowly Lisa convinces her it would be a bad idea. The dragons would be hunted and the lightning dragons would be able to terrorize the town. Three individuals who will have their view of themselves changed by someone else. I can't wait for the next book!

Loved how they seemed to be able to get away from Rita, even with her brother Paul helping Rita, but how will they be able to stay in the city? Can't wait for the nest book to find out!
This was a great second part of this set of books. I enjoy seeing how both Lisa and Verrian are helping each other to build their self esteem. It is going to be interesting to see how Rita becomes involved in helping the dragons and not just selling a good story.
I have to say I am a little disappointed in this book. Love the characters, but not their insecurities that they are dealing with. Liz and Verrian; will they get together and do the mating bond, or will they go their separate ways, who knows, it was a cliff hanger
